We booked a premium 3 bed cabin (for 3 adults and 4 children) through Eurocamp for 8 nights from 6th to 14th July 2023. We loved everything about our stay. We flew Dublin to Biarritz and used Biarritz Airport Transfers (Family business James O Keefe brilliant service - couldn’t recommend highly enough) for 30 min transfer to camp and didn’t bother hiring a car for this trip. Our cabin was in a great location - not so close to the central area to be bothered by noise but just a couples minutes away from pools and activities on our bikes which we hired on site. Bike hire on arrival is easy and reasonably priced and makes the holiday. We loved jumping on our bikes to pop up to the on site shop or pool complex and we made use of the great cycle tracks in the surrounding area. We loved the cycle to the beach and surrounding towns. The pool complex on-site is super. Our kids were 8, 10, 12 and 13 and kids and adults loved all the pools and slides. The semi covered pool area for toddlers and babies is the best I’ve seen and provides a brilliant area for families with younger children. The staff on site are lovely across all facilities - the pool life guards are vigilant for safety issues but are happy to let people have fun once it’s not interfering with anyone else’s comfort. It was the most relaxed and enjoyable pool environment I’ve experienced. Food is not meant to be brought into the pool area but this means that the pool complex is really clean and we didn’t see any bees or wasps to bother the kids. The whole complex is well maintained and has beautiful flowers planted everywhere. The on-site restaurant and takeaway facilities are enjoyable - all the kids found something they liked (in particular the crepes and waffles with Nutella) and that’s all that matters on a camping holiday with family. There is a choice of restaurants immediately outside the campsite too if you fancy some variety. There’s a soccer pitch and play ground and nightly entertainment (mainly in French) and a decent schedule in the kids club if you need it - we didn’t because we had plenty to be doing without it. We tried the water park next door (despite the average reviews) and we loved it - we went on a cloudy Wednesday and it wasn’t too busy. We stayed from 11.30 up to 7pm closing and had a fab day. You don’t need to hire a sun chair - get a locker for valuables and put you towel on the grass. The park is quite aged but great variety of slides for our kids - they also have a massive inflatable water slide at the back (which I’ve never seen before) and we all loved it - definitely had at least 40 goes and just couldn’t get sick of it. It wasn’t that expensive to get in (compared to other parks we’ve visited) and we had a brilliant day - with the bonus of a 5 min cycle home when we were finished. We tried the tree treking which is also next door - again reasonably priced and a big range of courses depending on age. They have colour coded the courses based on age and I wouldn’t be tempted to go outside the recommended age range - they won’t look for Id but the courses are challenging as you move from green to blue to red and the blacks are for serious climbers - if you’re kids are into that sort of thing then is definitely worth a go - you can just turn up and do as many courses as you’re able for. The beaches in the local area have got big big waves so not really for little kids or people who are any bit nervous of water - we always went close to low tide (bit less power in the waves and more beach space) and always stayed within the lifeguard area. We loved it though - you only go in a couple of meters and have the best fun fighting the massive waves - wipe outs are all part of the fun and you’ll get a great skin exfoliation from being pushed to the ground by the waves.
One of the adults did a train trip to Biarritz - they loved it and said the choice of restaurants was amazing. If we’d had more time we all would have gone but 8 days meant the kids had plenty without the need for a train trip.
Re the WiFi with Eurocamp - it’s not included - you pay at main reception for 3 devices (so we bought two bundles) we had told our device addicted kids that there was no WiFi no site so they had episodes from favourite shows downloaded before we went for some evening down time) we didn’t give them the WiFi codes til near the end of the trip so it meant they were out on their bikes together (unaccompanied as v safe) or played tip the can and other games in the vicinity of our mobile home for first few evenings. The WiFi signal doesn’t work inside the cabin though we had 4G and sometimes 5G signal on our phones) but the WIFI does work sitting outside the cabin - like everywhere can have busy times when not so strong). There was a TV screen in our mobile (no Tv signal) so we brought the Nintendo switch and they played some games a couple of nights. Finally re the cabin itself - 7 of us fitted v comfortable - we had to use the sofa bed too. I found the beds and pillows comfortable and with the outside space we didn’t really feel too confined. There was only one bathroom so sometime we used the on-site communal facilities for showers which were good too.
We all hated leaving - I could have stayed for the whole summer. It was the first place I’ve holidayed where I know I will def go back but for two weeks next time. Hope this helps if you’re considering Sylvamar.

Booked direct and stayed 2 weeks, from 12/7/20, in a Bora Bora (4 "star") chalet. Positives are that the site and accommodation were clean, all staff friendly, pool good with no shortage of sun beds, allowed into our accommodation at 10.00 (instead of 17.00), reasonable shop prices and good wifi (available in the lodge itself). Accommodation enjoyed only one wifi code but on my Yelloh app it said 1 per person and the site honoured that. :). Negatives were that facemask usage and social distancing, although stating that it was mandatory in enclosed areas, was not enforced (better in the 2nd week). Welcome meet is in Fench only, as is all the entertainment. No towels/bedding were in our chalet but this may have been due to them letting us in very early. Minor irriattaions were that the shower doors opened outwards and so wet the bathroom floor (no option though as no space for a sliding door or inwardly opening one); high toilet and so on tiptoe when sat (I'm 6 foot); No oven; No fitted sheets; TV only has 1 English chanel.
Beach is 0.75 miles away and steep with large waves that knock over adults.
Like the site but wouldn't stay again due to the beach.

Our August trip was our 2nd to Sylvamar after going the year before. We chose the site because of the private toilet and shower facilities you can book when camping. First year we drove down with 2 young kids from the UK which was quite a slog This august, we took the ferry from Portsmouth to bilbao which was about a thousand times easier with kids!! About 2. 5 hours drive from bilbao to sylvamar! The site is amazing. Soooooooo much to do. The pool is incredible and we would regularly spend 4hrs in there! The activities are brilliant and plenty of them for kids of all ages. The entertainment was of such good quality! There is a pump track just opposite the zoo that is brilliant if you have your bike. The sea is rough but if you keep an eye on the wave forecast, you can choose a day when it's less rough. There were some bands playing down at labenne beach through August which was so lovely. It's a short drive to biarritz which is beautiful. We are going again next year in a camping site with the private toilet again it has a shower and a great fridge freezer and storage area above for food. If you want a bustling campsite with loads to do, this is a great option!

We booked a 7 night stay on a pitch, with own camping gear. Upon arrival we were impressed with the reception checkin and advise for COVID safety. This is where it ends. You walk past reception and it is over capacity in every way, with no care for the reassurance they quote at booking on on their website.
Our pitch, as we had never been and did not know the site was allocated. We were right beside the pool, bar, spa etc. Loud, teenage groups gathering to all hours. The pitch itself had no shade and you could not use the facilities as they were also crowded and at capacity. We ended up driving out to get our kids a break from the sun.
We had a large group of teenage French Boys beside us who had all night long drinking parties. My daughters would get up in the morning to find passed out bodies in front of our tent!
For the pool, which was nice and slides were great, the life guards were too busy flirting and chatting. They did a quick announcement to remind 1 metre distance, then the animation team gathered crowds to dance in the water, literally 2 minutes later. Pool was heaving and definitely no space adhered to. Unlike Sandaya sites with a booking system application to monitor levels. We stayed at Sandaya enroute and were impressed with their set up which matched what they advertised.
The toilet and shower facilities had temporary barriers up to guide walkways in and out. Everyone ignored. They were constantly dirty and I think I saw cleaned first thing in morning only.
We did try and report the issues onsite, however the Yelloh team were not interested in our situation or our feedback. They have ignored our emails, calls etc. They were happy to let us leave early with no where to go rather than deal with our rowdy pitch neighbours. Money before safety!!
I would recommend you to currently stay away from all Yelloh sites in France. Their rates for Covid are high and it is very evident as to why.
Alternatively the Sandaya group campsites do enforce all safety measures as advertised. There are safer ways to enjoy a break in France currently.

Currently staying for a week with Eurocamp, we where already in Portugal and the stay was cancelled by Eurocamp on the day before we where due to arrive. The reps Rod and Sue went above and beyond to make sure we had a place to stay and very grateful they did. This is a wonderful campsite with great local amenities and in the current pandemic are making a superb job of making everything both as safe but also relaxed as it can be, funny holiday for everyone this year but highly recommend this site and would also like to give a shout out to the waitress at the pool/ bar blonde hair heart tattoo that answered loads of our questions night one. Highly recommend this place!!

We have stayed here for 3 nights in June/July. The cabin and the facilties were okay. The outside main pool quite cold but the rest was okay. Evening entertainment for kids could be better as the animators just dance the same choreography to different songs. I expected little bit more effort. Also wifi code is only for 1 device which in 2022 is a little ridiculous.
Until the departure we were thinking to come back next year. But...
Before the stay and also at the check in we were informed that although check out is at 10 we can sill stay in the camping until the afternoon. So on the last day we cleaned the bungalow and wanted to check out then go to the pool and have lunch before the journey home.
Imagine our disappointment when we were told that we absolutely cannot stay inside the campiste. We were all wearing swimsuits and planned the whole day according this. With two small kids travelling is never easy and we had to change in the parking lot and left with two crying children who wanted to go to the slides. Basically every family had the same issue and I saw a lot of disappointed people leaving that morning. If this is the camping's policy then I accept but they have to communicate it in advance. Very badly handled.

Very disappointing end to our holiday.

We stayed here with our two children aged two and four and had a decent time despite torrential rain for most of the week. It was a blessing that there was an indoor pool specifically for small children. The mini disco on the evenings was also welcome entertainment for the little ones. The Eurocamp accommodation was pretty basic and I wouldn’t say it was sparkling clean on arrival but acceptable.
Nice location but you need a car ideally - beach is about a mile away with some interesting WW2 remnants. Supermarkets a short drive also.
Would go back to the area hopefully for better weather next time!

We went to sylvamar first two weeks in July.We boooked through eurocamp, which was fine but I would try other suppliers next time.We flew from Dublin with aer Lingus in to Bilbao as it was a whooping 2k cheaper then Ryanair to biarritz.it’s a little less then 2 hour drive, lots of tolls but a nice easy drive.
So our accommodation was a 3 bed aspect air con, nice clean and all in working order no issues. If you haven’t been before don’t expect these to be big, they are small but the longer you stay the more you realise it’s perfect.Sylvamar is a great camp lots to do, very clean and the pool is fantastic for kids, it wasn’t too busy for us, but was getting busier towards the end.The pool is very safe and keeps the kids entertained for hours rather then the normal hotel pool which you have to do the entertaining. The indoor kids pool was great too the kids would go in there and chill. So things you need to know, we booked bikes for the hole holiday and they were great to have, especially if your not too close to the pool. You book these and most sporting activities at the shop beside the arcade and supermarket. They have table tennis batts and balls, tennis rackets and balls, basketball and all the local info there for you, but they only take cash.
The arcade is good. The supermarket is fine and nice fresh pastries and bread every morning.
The restaurant is fine but small menu, there’s also a fast food snack bar which again is also fine.
If your cooking/bbq at the accommodation there’s a supermarket in the town with lots of fresh produce.
Cabreton is beautiful for a day at the beach or evening meal in the sq, there’s a market there every Wednesday and Friday.
Bayonne is beautiful
San Sebastián if you have a car is well worth the day trip.
The negatives, well the food, the food in all restaurants was mediocre at best, avoid the restaurants just outside the camp, there is a decent pizza restaurant just down towards the beach on the left.
We were running out of ideas after a week, we cooked at home but that takes up a lot of your time.
The only other negative is the waves at the beach my 12 year old could get in for a swim and she’s a very strong swimmer is was just too rough, the beach is beautiful but the water is dangerous.we had a great holiday but would not return due to these two negatives which is an awful pity as it’s a beautiful place and the weather was just perfect, not too hot.

Despite a few rainy days this resort was just perfect, There is an aqua park right next door, but the park itself has so many pools and slides we had no need to visit the actual aqua park.
The site is extremely clean and tidy, this is partly to the no food policy around the pool area. Bike hire was great, although it doesn’t take card and there is no cash point on site, the nearest cashpoint is a 3km ride away in town. If you leave ID they will let you take the bikes to go and get cash.
We would personally like to thank Oscar and Clara who work in the pool restaurant, Clara was very helpful and Oscar is a credit to this restaurant, always happy, always smiling and remembered our first names from day one. On our last day it was meant to be his first day off in 6 weeks, yet we were surprised to see him working, he’d been called in as they were really busy, but he was still as bubbly as ever, and made our last evening meal out very fun. Hope you get a rest soon Oscar.
Thank you

Not 5 star resort, cabin shabby/jaded , directly located across from the play ground, sandpit. Prepare to spend time sweeping otherwise it’s in your bed. Cabins very close together, had to keep table area curtain closed otherwise your looking directly into another family holiday. There’s a lot of cabins, fairly squeezed in. My main disappointed was taking the kids down to the pool in the afternoon, not one sun lounger available all covered with towels. There is lots of sun loungers empty for hours .. 3 hours I sat on hard ground watching my kids while the majority of sun loungers lay idle, hate the idea of having to get up early and stake your claim to lounger when you might be gone off cycling for a few hours or gone for food. It shouldn’t be allowed it wasn’t relaxing it was a horrible experience it was so busy. Many people laid towels out on Astro turf but there’s no way to watch your kids while they are in the pool, managed to get a lounger after 6 after asking around. outdoor pool cold, my kids kept going in & out of baby pool to warm up, while it was a lovely 26 degrees air temp. Btw rapid pool area was crazy busy. WiFi keeps disconnecting, or shows No internet. Positives lovely bakery a walk away, beach impressive if your a surfer, safe cycle into Capbreton. Lovely pizza from a food truck down the road. Polite staff in reception. Great base to go exploring. We had a few days in Yelloh Les Grand Pins, loved it, now that’s a 5 star experience. Looking forward to checking out after 2 years waiting to visit Sylvamar, yelloh does a great job marketing. Thinking of going to Decathlon and buying a deck chair. Wish I read these reviews before booking
