Rustic individual cabins perched on a steep mountainside overlooking the stunning Savegre River valley. Difficult but rewarding hiking trail(s) on this property. Saw Quetzal(s). Affiliated(sort of) Miriam's café right up the road has typically friendly Tico service and decent food/prices.

Thanks George for your very candid and truthful report. Hope others will read it. We are glad you enjoyed your visit and were able to see the Quetzals. Peter

We went to Quetzal Valley in search of the elusive Resplendent Quetzal, and we were not disappointed. On the second day we sat beside a wild avocado tree near the cabins at 5:00 AM. A pair of Quetzals, as promised, came to feed at 06:20. We were delighted. This was the highlight of our two-week trip to Costa Rica. The...

We stayed for a weekend in september... and it was amazing! The rustic cabana was fully equipped and it was much more comfortable than we expected. We loved to ignite the iron stove to warm up the place, thankfully the cabana had a vast stockpile of dry wood so we didn't had problem starting and keeping alive the fire. The...

San Gerardo de Dota is THE PLACE if yo want to see those elusive Quetzals in Costa Rica, especially if you are arriving in off season when the mating is over. I tried my best to see them in Monteverde in July and only managed to see a sleeping female one in the night, despite having two very experienced guides...

Loved the rustic but confortable cabins. Good location. Nice view. Quiet since it is not too close to the mail road. Nice trails for walks. There are eating establishments close by if you do not wish to cook. I recommend this place.

We stayed in San Gerardo de Dota for one night as part of a larger trip, and it was our only time in the Cloud Forest. Our cabin had a great view of the mountains and foliage. The cabins are wooden, inside and out. They have private bathrooms, a coffee maker, and a space heater (it does get quite cold...

Most foreign tourists come to this area of cloud forest to be thrilled by the improbably marvelous collection of exotic birds that thrive in these cool mountains. Our cabin (number 4) had a superb view of the whole valley and the trees and shrubs below our balcony was a little bird paradise. The cabins are beautifully designed with all the...

We booked with Quetzal valley cabins on short notice and were very well taken care. From lifts from our good hearted driver Nelso being arranged for us once we got off the bus on the side of the highway to meeting our needs for information, the Quetzal valley cabins team were on point. The cabins themselves were clean, cute and...

I stayed for a night with my girlfriend, my brother and his wife and two more little siblings. The cabins ate completely comfortable and cozy. They are just to the side of the main road, so that makes them easily accessible. There's a path on the property which takes people to a beautiful river, where we had fun fishing trouts,...
