First off, we are not birders and did not come to Savegre to hunt for a Quetzal. We came to the area to hike and enjoy the mountains. From that perspective, Savegre did not deliver. The property trail- Las Robles is poorly maintained and unsafe. The trail to the first waterfall is OK; the trail to the 2nd waterfall is...

A clean, comfortable and well equipped hotel (spa etc - not used). Rooms large and good common areas. Restaurant food was good. Lovely location and recognised as an area to see quetzels which we were lucky enough to do.

My favorite hotel in Costa Rica. It is in a valley next to a roaring river, with beautiful trees and flowers and many beautiful birds. Perfect! The rooms were nice but nothing special. All meals were buffet. Not my favorite but good food. Service was good. There were hummingbird and regular bird feeders outside the restaurant, so it was hard...

We enjoyed the visit, our guide (Marino Chacon), the food and the hotel grounds/room were very nice. It does involve, however, quite a drive down from the highway on a very curvy road to get to the bottom of the canyon. A 4X4 car makes the drive better. Beautiful place to visit and the birding was super. Rooms are specious...

Its a long way down to the hotel especially in the evening but is worthwhile! The place is an osae of rest and a perfect location for your hikes in the area. Take a guide! he can show you all the birds flying around ..and there are many! especially in the hotel garden we were travelling in rain season so...

My partner & I were in San Gerardo de Dota, staying at a different place, and we decided to visit the Savegre Lodge for lunch one day. Even though we weren't staying as overnight guests, the staff made us feel comfortable and welcome (they even got someone to help us with some car problems we were having). The food was...

Savegre is a beautiful resort with all the amenities you could want. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The rooms have small portable heaters to keep you warm if needed. The gardens are nicely tended and very scenic. The food is first-class and well prepared with good variety. The spa is a bit pricey but the Jacuzzis are welcomed after...

We were booked here by Holbrook and fortunately our agent booked us a guide by the name of Moreno who took us up to see the Resplendent Quetzal. We...

Stayed for 3 days in one of the bungalows. Lots of atmosphere; the large tub was great to relax in, and the fireplace with supplied wood a great touch. Great variety of hiking trails to explore and bird from. Hired a guide for a night tour which was really nice, plus the 5 hour quetzal tour the next day, and...

I stayed here as part of a packaged land tour of Costa Rica. It is not a place you find by accident. It is located in a very isolated valley with the only land way in is on a fairly long winding steep road. The mountains/hills surrounding the valley is part of a cloud forest and I'll estimate the elevation...
