Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

this is a great Hotel. Clean generous rooms and friendly staff. Its worth to go there even though it is not at the waterfront. The food in the restaurant is excelent and not too pricy. One of the best mid range Hotels we had during our trip.

We didn't know where to sleep on our visit to Lake Orta and by chance found at very attractive rate this lovely familial hotel on the heights of Orta, in beautiful traditionnal little village Ameno (I recommend a night walk in the village!) / nice and clean rooms, very good beds, and above all an incredible warm, smiling and helpful staff we were always happy to meet. The restaurant is VERY good and not expensive. But most of all, the view on the terrasse and the rooftop is just perfect for a quiet or romantic holiday. I would love to come back to that treasury place. Love to all the staff and especially the gentleman who helps us a lot fight the mosquitos !

A wonderful overnight stay in a very well-run and beautifully located albergo. We had a panorama view room but the day we were there the air was misty. No problem, the welcome from the family made our stop very enjoyable. The restaurant is particularly good with home-grown vegetables, some fruits as well as chickens and rabbits.

Quick overnight stay at this lovely family-run hotel in the hills above Orta. Very clean, decent sized room with nice balcony overlooking the view with the Alps in the distance. Good value for money. And if you eat there be sure to have the insalata caprese - it's a work of art! Only criticism is the TA listing says there is a swimming pool. There isn't, although there is one about 4km away and of course there are the beaches on the beautiful laggo d'orta.

I accompanied a group of travellers for a holiday to the Italian Lakes and we stayed in this hotel for the first time having stayed at Lake Orta before but nearer the lake I was worried that we would be to far and that the hotel wouldn't deliver I couldn't have been more wrong! A lovely family run hotel with staff who couldn't be more helpful Yes it is about 3k from the lake but a short taxi ride can be done and staff will book one for you or you can walk but beware it's quite a hike back The views are stunning (Ask for a balcony) and the food is very good Rooms are clean and serviced every day If your expecting 5* accommodation don't go! But if you want a lovely family run hotel with stunning views, good food, very clean and a typical Italian experience then this hotel is for you

View to die for, facing towards Lake Orta, cypresses and the Alps. No noise except for singing birds. Dinner on the veranda with local wine, and not too expensive. Ameno itself is a charming ancient village with frescoes on the walls.

I can't comment on the accommodations, but as a restaurant, this place is worth finding. The service was casually great and friendly and the food was simply well prepared and of very good quality. The portions were what one would expect in this part of the world and the wines suggested by our server were just fantastic. It was a good thing we were cycling as we ate so much our ride needed to be extra long the following day. So, book it, then find it and enjoy yourselves !

We booked this place for one night not knowing if we would want to stay longer. The town of Ameno is charming and architecturally gorgeous and less than a 10 minute drive to Orta San Giulio. The mountain views here were spectacular and breakfast and dinner were great! We ended up at a "slow food" market in the center of Ameno on Sunday and everyone was super friendly. We would have probably stayed another night or two because we love small villages that are right off the tourist trail but the beds were really awful. Probably not the fault of the mattresses (I used to own a mattress store) but the supports underneath had given way long ago. If they fix the beds, it will be a great place to stay among several generations of a real Italian family.

We stayed at the Albergo Monterosa for the five nights preceeding the Christmas period. We were made to feel extremely welcome by the attentive and hard working staff. The front of house manager/owner was particularly hospitable, having great patience with our limited Italien. This particular area, we found to be ideal for visiting both Lake's Orta & Maggiore. The towns of Orta San Guilio and Stresa stand out as very visit-worthy, but exploring the lesser known towns and villages is very rewarding. We would reccomend hiring a car to make the most of the region, as some of the best, most authentic places are off the beaten track, however driving along the various mountain passes isn't for the faint-hearted. Overall, the magic of this region is that it is completely unspoilt and hasn't fallen into the commercialisation trap of some of the tourist hotspots of the east of the Italien Lake's
