Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This is our third visit to Beck Hall… Excellent as always - the only disappointment this time was that there was a limited selection of meat options on the menu due to the introduction of the Plant based menu that was commencing on the 1st of Dec .. We were aware that the new menu was starting at the end of our midweek stay however we was not pre warned that the meat menu was limited .. No fish & chips and steak available amongst other foods… I must say the vegetarian sausage was excellent .. Linda is the face of Beck Hall for us - always smiling and nothing too much trouble .. David and Martin also very friendly and polite… We would love to return but have some reservations regarding the full plant based menu .. Good luck with the new menu Pete, Julie & Fern

An absolutely wonderful experience! We thoroughly enjoyed every single bit of our stay and the fabulous plant based menu. We enjoyed a beautiful room surrounded by birdlife and a spectacular view of the beck. We LOVE the plant based menu, the staff were awesome and we made a stop at Beck Hall on purpose (from Australia) as we read about your transition to plant based online and knew we had to come and support you. The best of luck with your transition, and I'm sure you will find every success and support by the wonderful network of vegans (and vegan curious) around the world. Vegan, done well. I have been a vegan wholefood chef for a very long time and find it extremely difficult to find well made vegan food in England or Australia - all the Gold stars to you guys!!! Doggo friendly and relaxed enough vibes to make the stay thoroughly enjoyable. We will be back! Thankyou for your hospitality and a wonderful night Queenie and Tim Scott 🌱 Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5

Prior to the hotel becoming 100% plant based (PB ) on the 1st Dec 2023. We were hugely disappointed that during our stay on Sun 26th November 2023 the restaurant had no meat options left on the menu other than a a pork dish of the ‘specials’ board. When we asked why the menu had very little choice available, staff at the hotel explained that the chef was simply running products down prior to the restaurant changing over to PB. Should we have received a courtesy call to inform of this prior to our arrival we would have cancelled our reservation with Beck Hall and explored neighbouring accommodation and eateries. The staff at the front of house are exceptional and very attentive. During our two night stay I witnessed these staff on numerous occasions having to explain the same thing to other guests staying and eating at the hotel., some of which ‘walked out’. The manor in which the staff dealt with this situation was professional considering the predicament the management team had put them in. I wish Beck Hall the best of luck for their new venture.

Relaxing, cozy, friendly, welcoming. This place is an ideal holiday to escape the busy city hustle. We had a kingfisher that sat outside our stream-side bedroom window in the morning. The staff were so thoughtful - nothing was too much trouble. They looked after myself and partner very well. He has a nut allergy and they knew each time without us having to constantly mention which made us feel very safe! There are lovely walks right from the doorstep. The best thing is this hotel is shortly becoming fully vegan. If the current vegan options on the menu are anything to go by, then you won’t want to miss out. Everyone commenting they won’t return when they go fully plant based… grow up and widen your ham and cheese sandwich horizons - you’ll be the ones missing out. This is some of the best food we’ve had - we tried the roast, afternoon tea, breakfast, lunch and dinner menus!

Found this hotel when looking for dog friendly accommodation as a stopover on a journey from Dundee to Cambridgeshire. What a gem this is! Nestled away in the Yorkshire Dales, it's not one you'll likely pass unless you're off the beaten track as we were. Very clean and comfortable rooms with four posters and nice touches. Lovely warm snug with log fire and a beautiful restaurant overlooking the beck. The food is beautifully prepared and simply delicious. Salmon Scotch Egg followed by Sea-bass was just delightful. Good wine list at reasonable prices. And best of all the staff look after the dogs as well as the humans! Welcome in the restaurant, they are even provided with their own cushion and an endless supply of treats. We arrived when it was dark and wet, but woke up to a beautiful sunny day so a walk up to Malham Cove just set up the day nicely. A warm and welcoming hotel in a beautiful location with excellent food and dedicated staff. What more can you ask for.

Soon to be England’s first fully plant based hotel and what a place it is. This place is truly wonderful. Friendly staff, amazing vegan food and the most idilic location. Will definitely return 💚 Lots of walks on the doorstep!

A very comprehensive menu made it hard to choose! All the food I saw on the tables looked great. I'm glad I went for the vegan roast though, it was absolutely fantastic. One of the best roasts I've had in years. I'll be making a trip back to sample the other options soon!

Had a lovely stay here recently, the staff are really nice, friendly and helpful. Restaurant is very nice with a lovely view out to the garden and beck, nice little snug although not big enough for all the guests so get a seat early. Food was fantastic (I'm a meat eater but tried the plant based options and was really impressed), cosy and quirky rooms with there own heating controls. Excellent place if you have a well behaved dog or even if you don't and just like dogs.

Have been here before and the food was amazing. Sunday lunch was a tad disappointing. No starters on a Sunday - missing a trick here to earn additional revenue for hungry walkers… Partner & I are both vegan, therefore, we tried the seitan roast. Although tasty, it seemed far too salty for our liking, so be careful when seasoning before tasting. The remaining part of the meal, vegetables, were bland and not very appetising. Broccoli & cauliflower seemed boiled (or steamed) and somewhat watery. There is so much more you can do with these two vegetables, to make them taste fantastic i.e. simple baking with a drizzle of herb oil. Again, snap peas could have been cooked and then lightly sautéd in flavours. Same said for the cornlettes. Plant-based Yorkshire puds were different, but good.
