You have to love a pub which announces outside "dogs and wellies welcome". They even put up with our kids. Lovely ambience, lovely food. And we saw a frog in the carpark on the way out. A wonderful evening.

We didn't book a table but the lovely waitress asked us to wait a few minutes while she arranged a table for us. The pub was really busy but had a nice vibe. We ordered food and we wasn't disappointed and the desert was absolutely amazing we were both full but we had to finish it!

We stopped here for lunch and were really surprised by the excellent food, generous portions and the really pleasant staff. The place has a great relaxed atmosphere and although we stayed for a longer than average time we felt we were not being rushed along. I would definitely give it a try !

A good variety of meals on the menu. The food was well cooked and served attractively. Service was excellent. There were lots of diners, but meals were served within a very short time. We did not require accomodation, but would certainly consider staying there if in the area in future.

We stayed overnight at this charming old inn last night, after a day out at the air museum... we have to say, that everything was exceptional! :) Our room (one of 4 in a separate block outside) was lovely and cosy. Warm and welcoming, with a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, a well-stocked tea and coffee tray, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries....

Just left this lovely pub. Great, warm pub restaurant feel with the Christmas mini lights and candles on each table. My partner had tonights special of mixed game pie that he devoured...it looked beautiful when they served it, all golden brown! I had the cajun chicken salad as a main. The chicken was tender and juicy over a bed of...

Went to the Barleycorn for a birthday meal. The atmosphere at this pub is lovely, the food excellent with a great choice on the menu. The interior decor is bright and cheerful without being OTT, the service was excellent and prompt. Highly recommend a visit.

We stayed just one night at the John Barleycorn after a very long, exhausting journey. It was the perfect place to recoup some energy - quiet, comfortable, homey with really, really good food (many of the items on the menu were locally produced / sourced) and friendly, welcoming staff. The fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy (but only...

As soon as we got to this delightful inn we knew we were in for a treat. It is so pretty from the outside. We received a lovely welcome and my husband couldn't wait to order a pint of his favourite Abbot Ale. We had a delicious lunch, hubby had the steak burger and I had a beetroot and goat's...
