Had a lovely two night stay while house hunting. The rooms were lovely spotlessly clean and Jill and Rupert could not have been more accommodating and pleasant. They where also very welcoming to our two dogs. The breakfasts where fantastic. This place is so lovely and we will return.

Well, thank you very much. And, we have to say, your dogs were very welcoming to us! (We have a soft spot for Springer Spaniels.) We look forward to seeing you again soon.

We were visiting family in Crook and booked this B&B as it was close but also looked stunning from the photos and reviews. We were a family of 3 who actually booked all 3 bedrooms at the property so had the delight of checking out each others rooms. Seriously clean everywhere (I'm a bit OCD) and lovely views from all...

Gosh! I don't know where to start! First, thank you very much. As London "refugees" ourselves, we do understand the joy of silence. We look forward to seeing you and yours early and often!

An amazing historical property, that has retained its character in a truly stunning location. Nestled away at the edge of the high undulating moors of Weardale, this period arts and crafts retreat is a delight for all senses, especially the garden. Glorious decor and furnishings set the bar many will flounder to follow. First class hospitality from the hosts, wondrous...

Thank you very much. We're very lucky to have found such a beautiful, peaceful, period home that we can share with our guests. Jill loves gardening - and having her garden appreciated - so thank you for that too. The bees are still something of an adventure, but we hope to have more honey next year!

Street/Lane address easy enough to find but Dowfold could be better sign posted. A warm welcome on our late arrival bedroom was spacious, clean, warm , comfortable and inviting. Breakfast hearty but a lighter choice was available too. Gardens were great and the outlook fantastic. A great choice of places to stay.

Thank you for your kind words. we'd agree that the the signage could be more emphatic, but we struggle with the balance between the "home from home" atmosphere that we try to create, and the more commercial forms of signage that are, frankly, not pretty. Following your comments, we've started sending out maps and pictures of our entrance with each...

Its just outside the village of Crook a few miles south of Durham. We were welcomed at the door by Jill who was very friendly and shown to our room a large twin beautifully furnished with plenty of drawer and hanging space and a well equipped shower room with very good quality products. The view was magnificent looking over the...

Wow! what a review! I think it highlights one of the things that really matters to us - interacting with our guests. We get a lot of pleasure from it but try hard not to overdo it - after all, you haven't come to see us. It also brings out the difference between a B&B and most other forms of...

This property is in a fantastic location with views to die for. Excellent hosts and beautiful breakfast. Rooms are lovely and very comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble . I am going to book again for next year and probably stop a bit longer. Well done

Well I'll do something I don't normally do and start off with the price - £59. Trust me the quality and ambiance would suggest this is a B&B that could command a lot more. When I look at recent reviews I've done at establishments that cost almost twice this, I'm amazed this is pitched at this price range. But I'll...

Thank you very much indeed. I should point out that the price was that for a telephone booking. We're normally a bit more expensive, but we do value contact with our guests - it helps us to do a better job for them and we like to treat everyone as an individual. I'd also mention that, as a returning guest,...

I stayed here separately with work and returned with my wife for the kynren experience. We were provided with free transport to and from the venue. What brilliant service!! Thank you very much for your kind review. Kynren has been a HUGE success in this part of the world, and we're glad to have played our small part in it. Indeed, many of our guests, like this one, are determined to come and see it again next year (it will have been updated, you may be sure). Don't miss...

Great welcome from Jill and I was looked after from start to finish of my stay. Room very comfortable with all the amenities, lovely bathroom. Good selection of food at breakfast and it was excellent. Definitely would stay there again when working in the area.

Stayed for just one night when we went to see Kynren. From the moment of booking Jill and Rupert did everything they could to ensure we had a lovely stay. From advice on places to eat to help with the taxi to and from the event nothing was too much trouble. The room was large and had two lovely windows...

Thank you for your kind words. We're delighted that you had such a good time. Isn't Kynren fabulous? I'm glad to say that our apple trees are fruiting well, so we hope to have lots more apple juice for people to enjoy next year. Our new bees have clearly been attending to their pollination duties (and the honey is GREAT!)
