Details taken at entry, plenty of sanitizer machines, tables set a decent distance apart, markings on floor to show distancing and a one way system. The whole lunchtime experience felt well managed and the food was very good as well. We ordered various, sandwiches, wraps and rolls with hot meats from the carvery, they were all plentiful and value for money. The view from most tables on the waterside is superb, always something going on. The main restaurant with the carvery in is comfortable and we have eaten in there several times but the views are better from tables near the bar.

we have been to the Wherry hotel on previous occasions the hotel was very clean and corona virus aware with lots of hand sanitizer about the hotel .
The breakfast was excellent as usual and could not fault any of the staff.
we booked a deluxe room which was large and clean
whoever the weather had been extremely hot and there was no fan in the room I phoned reception and they brought us up a fan which was broken I phoned again and was brought up a fan that looked like a desk fan which was not suitable for the large room we had booked we were very disappointed with this. considering the hot weather we have had this year there should have been a floor fan in this large room. We booked the deluxe room thinking it would be a lot nicer but in our opinion not good value for money

The area has tons of character, ideal for the sailing/boating/wind surfing fraternity, with lots of facilities nearby including walks/cycleways a park and a museum.

The Wherry is well located on Oulton Broad right on the edge of the lake, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the setting sun across the water on an evening. Our room was a superior room, but to be frank there was little to suggest superior apart from slightly more space. There were the normal facilities including an adjoining toilet bath/shower, tv, tea/coffee, whilst the bed was large and fairly comfortable. The room was impeccably clean, and this was also reflected elsewhere in the hotel, with all the facilities obviously clean and well maintained. This was during the Corvid restrictions, and it was a feature of the hotels organisation (sanitisers, social distancing etc), that we felt safe throughout.

Full English breakfast was included and due to Corvid restrictions was served buffet style by the staff. We also had evening meals, with a couple of substantial carveries, a house burger and salmon. All were tasty and well cooked, with salmon a touch overdone. There was a choice of beers including cask and national brands like John Smiths.

This was an enjoyable and good value hotel, with pleasant pub food and an excellent location, but its most obvious strength was the staff and their attitude. Whether it was reception, catering or cleaning staff, they were always friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The staff were first class and this really contributed to our stay. Well done.

Didn’t actually visit this hotel, that was recommended to me by a family member.

Phoned for a price to stay 3 nights later in September. Was given a price of £285. Asked if this room had a walk in shower & was told yes, most of their rooms did.
Spoke to hubby, phoned back to make the booking to find the price was £56.00 more than I had been quoted a few minutes earlier.
I again asked them to confirm the room had a walk-in shower & again was told it did.
I booked the room via their website, in a free text box I informed them about our arrival & asked for confirmation re the walk-in shower.

The following day I received an email to say the room I’d booked didn’t have a walk-in shower but a shower over the bath.
I phoned the hotel asking to speak to either the manager or deputy, I had a fairly long wait before Luke came to the phone. I explained the the experience I had had, stating that I believe further training is required for the staff so they get the pricing tariffs correct & know the facilities in each room.
Luke did apologise, I had to cancel the booking as I’m unable to get in & out of a bath.

Not staying here, but in the village this week. Been here twice for food. The track & trace code on the door doesn't work. No-one wearing masks. Hand gel dispensers are empty. Tables not wiped clean. Food stuck on menus which aren't laminated. The first visit they didn't bring my food even though it was ordered- when mentioned- he said it will only take a minute and hey presto ham egg and chips arrived. Very dry thick chips. Nice ham and good fried eggs. Tonight Mum and I ordered the Aberdeen Angus lasagne with salad and a bowl of chips to share. The lasagnes arrived in dishes on hot plates with the salads stuck to the plates. The lasagne had one smear of "meat" that was tasteless. The rest of the dish was just a tasteless white sauce with a thick layer of ? Cheddar melted but not browned with no parmesan. Couldn't eat it. Disgusting sloppy mess. Mum's lasagne was hot on one side and cold on the other. Don't bother with it. Cheap ping dinners

We stayed in a double room which was well appointed with quality furniture but the only comfort came from the closeness of the walls, there was not even room for a luggage trestle. In addition the closeness of a chimney breast and it's footings to one side of the bed poses a serious risk of injury in the event of an emergency evacuation.
The bathroom was also well appointed but the complimentary toiletries consisted of a very small tablet of soap on the sink and shoulder height soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower/bath. Anyone taking a bath would need to stand up in the bath in order to access soap or shampoo.
We were a party of four and having selected our lunchtime menu choices one member, as required, went to the bar to place the order. Three selections were not available, as it turned out over half a dozen options were not available!
We stayed overnight and on checkout the receptionist was obliged to ask if we would like to contribute 5, 10 or more percent to staff gratuities. If staff are encouraged to tout for gratuities one wonders how much they are be being underpaid.
The terrace looks out over Oulton Broad but is spoiled by two open black top rubbish bins amongst the tables.
In summary the decor is good, the food is good, the staff are friendly and helpful but management are in dire need of upping their game, and even at today's prices the hotel is over priced in comparison to the market.

We stayed at the Wherry for approximately two weeks for business purposes. The first room was OK, a suite with double aspect windows but unfortunately very noisy due to being near the busy road. The second room had a lovely water view but was very small and several of the windows didn't open so it was also extremely hot. Breakfast was fine and staff were friendly. The problem was with dinner service. Once seated by a server, manager, bar tender or who ever happens to seat you, it's then basically up to you whether you sit there for the next half hour and hope someone actually returns to take your order or whether you're proactive and call to one of the servers that are standing around chatting or walking by. When someone finally takes your order for food and drinks, you would assume that that person would be your server for the entire evening. Unfortunately not. Once you finish your drink or meal. if you decide you want another drink, or a dessert or even the bill, it's then up to you to either wait another half hour until someone notices either the empty plates or the look of exasperation from you and your party. Alternatively you can go the proactive course once again and flag down another server but this is easier said than done as they tend to huddle together to chat by the cash register or other areas, rather than actually look around to see if service is needed. And if you happen to be sitting outside on the patio, you can basically forget about any service. We watched many guests become exasperated waiting for someone to come out and take their order that often they would have to come into the hotel to find a server. Clearly the poor dinner service is the fault of the manager who needs to assign tables to individual servers rather than the current disorganized system The best service we received during our two weeks stay was from an exceptionally sharp 17 year old lad who informed us that he had only just started and this was his first job. We were so impressed we gave him a big tip. The food, when you actually receive it, is pretty decent. We only had the carvery on one occasion and there was just so much drama with not being allowed to carry your own plate back to the table that we didn't order it again. Most of the staff were nice during our stay but one receptionist called Sue was very rude to us and we had to complain to the manager. Not sure if we would stay at the hotel again. As we checked out of our room, part of the door fell off and the elevator was not working so we had to carry all our luggage down the stairs.

Lovely position overlooking Broad. Nice looking building. We went with intention of eating however very chaotic with no one seeming to know what others doing . We had to clean our own table or sit with all debris from previous customers - despite asking but was told too busy serving on bar to clean tables also! We had a quick - very expensive and overpriced - drink and left. Would not return. Disappointing as they did a Carvery but totally chaotic queues etc.

Stayed for 2 days at the wherry from Sunday. This is my 2nd stay at the wherry and similar to the last time we stayed the place is in a bit of a time warp! The whole place could do with a refurb due to it looking worn and tired. Our room was pleasant and spacious with a balcony, bed was ok but “rock hard,” so if it’s a comfy bed your after then maybe the wherry isn’t for you. Bath & shower all ok but very dark due to 1 lamp blown and cobwebbed so clearly been like it for a year or so? On arrival the car park was full, the bar and seating areas were too match, the Sunday roast buffet is clearly a winner with the locals so we decided to eat at a local Chinese down the road. Breakfast included was “serve yourself” with congealed beans, eggs and sausages stuck to the hot plate, I asked the chef behind the counter if it was possible to make me a simple cheese omelette but looks that he either didn’t have the time or didn’t know how to make one so the answer was “what you see is what’s on offer,” he then continued to cook eggs from a stack on a griddle in front of him, so I tend think the omelette making theory taught on his cookery course was missed or he was asleep?
Apart from the “omelette gate” affair it was a relaxing 2 night stay, I will return again next year and hope that after my review they send the chef back to finish his cookery course.

Apologies I like many, arrived by car and wish I hadn't, it was the worst stay involving every establishment I've stayed in throughout many years. Try Premier Inn or anywhere similar unless it's too late to cancel. (Read my report on Trip Advisor).
