Casa sul Monte, a 300+ year old stone farmhouse in central Umbria with 2 spacious, independent but interconnected holiday apartments, Ulivi - 2 bedrooms (sleeps up to 6) and Noci - 1 bedroom (sleeps up to 4). Recently fully restored the house has private gardens with swimming pool overlooking the Tiber valley and the Apennine mountains. A purpose built BBQ area with large grill, cooking equipment, table and chairs, nightime lighting is available for guests. Both apartments have fully equipped kitchens, ample comfortable lounge seating and generous shower rooms. We are located 1 hour's drive from Perugia Airport, Assisi, Perugia and Orvieto. Florence and Rome are just over 2 hour's drive. We are on the edge of a small village surrounded by woods and wonderful rolling countryside. Trekking and cycling are especially popular as are the silence, solitude and fresh clean air. Ideal for families and small groups looking for a relaxing break from life's daily pressures and routines.

We spent seven nights at Casa sul Monte in August 2020. We had originally booked our stay for May but had to re-arrange due to coronavirus travel restrictions. The owners, Betty and Rob, were hugely understanding and helpful as we hastily adjusted our plans. Casa sul Monte was the perfect location for us, a family of four with kids aged 7 and 3. The accommodation was spacious and the kitchen superbly equipped. Rob and Betty are the perfect hosts - friendly, welcoming, full of knowledge of the local area and happy to help with any requests. We found our accommodation stocked with age appropriate toys for our kids (though they just wanted to spend all day in the pool!), a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge, a delicious homemade cake and a huge bowl of damsons from the tree in the garden. The view from the property over the Umbrian hills is beautiful. Casa sul Monte is not the location for those looking for lively nightlife - but if you are after somewhere to completely unwind and relax this is the place for you. At night all you will hear is the sound of chirping crickets and on a clear night you'll have a wonderful view of the stars. Although the property is right on the road there is very little traffic so that was no issue at all. We had been to Umbria several times previously so knew the area reasonably well. This meant we were happy to spend many of our days just lounging around by the pool. If you do want to go further afield there's plenty of interest within about an hour's drive and we even managed a day trip to Rome easily (via train from Orvieto). More locally there are a couple of excellent restaurants within a few miles and a great butcher in the next village (handy if you want to make use of the BBQ). In short - we had a fantastic holiday. Complete relaxation, wonderful hosts, can't wait to go back!…

We have just spent the week end in this beautiful casale in the middle of Umbria. Robert and Betty are the best hosts that we have ever met, and let me tell you something, THE PLACE IS STUNNING. We were looking for a casale with a pool to escape from the everyday life, and we casually found their place. The pictures don’t give justice to the amazing work that this two people have done to it. As well as the view that you can get from the pool. Thank you for being so kind us. We will definitely coming back again!

We arranged a family visit to Italy and chose Casa sul Monte as one of our accommodations. Our party was large and the apartments were opened to join into one which worked brilliantly. The hosts were attentive whilst being sensitive to our family time and even went to the trouble of arranging a Christmas Day four course meal at a local restaurant which was authentically delicious. Our stay finished with a pasta cooking lesson where Betty put a small group of us through our paces and guided us through making fresh pasta with two amazing sauces and fresh baked foccachia which we demolished prior to heading for Tuscany. The surroundings were stunning with views over the valley and a serenity that was magical. I would thoroughly recommend Casa sul Monte to any traveller wanting a rural Italian break. Perfect location for a family vacation! Beautiful surroundings and wonderful hosts! Assisi and Perugia are less then an hour away by car with so much natural beauty in this part of Italy. It was our second time at Casa sul Monte and we’re looking forward to returning in the near future!

I guess that this is my second stay in one of Rob and Betty's wonderful apartments in two months tells you all you need to know about Casa sul Monte. San Vito is ideally placed to enjoy the many attractions of Umbria, with Montefalco, Spello, Assisi, Bevagna, Orvieto, Bagnoregio and of course, Perugia all within easy striking distance. And when you need a break from all that excitement, the beautiful Umbrian countryside is on your doorstep. And if even that is too taxing, there's always the tranquil garden and inviting pool. Rob and Betty are wonderful and welcoming hosts, for whom nothing is too much trouble, and who have that rare talent of being able to provide a wealth of useful information, but in an unobtrusive way. Truly marvellous.

Casa Sul Monte has all the comforts and features of home. Plenty of space to chill out on your own or for everyone to gather around the family sized table. The hosts Rob and Betty are fabulous. They were so welcoming, approachable and attentive. We made use of the pool and sun loungers every day as well as taking trips out to the market, shops and tourist spots. The house is set in the beautiful hillside with stunning picturesque views. You can take leisurely walks and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The village of San Vito is within walking distance. The local people are very friendly and there is a lovely restaurant and bar. A great find.

Secluded and beautiful setting up in the Umbrian hills. Rob and Betty couldn't have been more accommodating - helped with restaurants, recommendations for day trips and keep the property in great condition. The garden provides plenty of room for the family to run around and the pool is a perfect size. We would highly recommend day trips to Perugia, Assisi, Ovieto, Civita (INCREDIBLE) and also Bolsena which is a beautiful lake - I can't recall the restaurant we ate in but Rob and Betty will point you in the right direction I'm sure. One of the best things we did was wake up early to see the sun rise - this is best seen from a viewing platform a short walk from Casa Sul Monte. A brilliant holiday - we'll definitely be staying here again.

Set in the stunning Umbrian Mountains. Casa Sul Monte is an idyllic little gem. The house itself is beautifully authentic and inside the apartments are modern, clean and spacious - still with the traditional Italian touch. We were so impressed when we pulled up! Rob and Betty - the owners - are a dream, always happy to help and wonderfully kind. We felt right at home. They have great knowledge of this part of Italy and give the best advice on where to go and what to visit. It has a gorgeous pool and plenty of space to relax outside over looking the mountains! The BBQ was our favourite addition, a few nights we sat outside with friends and cooked beautiful Italian food in the stone BBQ! Be sure to go to the supermarket on your way here to get some beautiful food it was such a treat. Especially BBQ’d Mortadella. The location, although at first seems remote, is located in between two big Towns/Cities which have wonderful history Orvieto & Perugia - we fell in love with both! Each are approx 45mins drive away - the best journey you will ever drive - up and down the mountains! There are still lovely eateries in close proximity! A gorgeous traditional Italian restaurant in the village - a short walk away and a delicious stone baked pizza restaurant set in the woods! I honestly think that Casa Sul Monte would suit anyone wishing to explore the Umbrian Mountains. Families, couples young or older, passers by! We cannot wait to visit again!
