Visited the Horse and Groom to meet up with friends for the weekend. We both arrived at 16.30 and were unable to get into the hotel as no staff on site, we were concerned at this poor start. Returned an hour later and quickly shown to our rooms by Richard who could not be more helpful. Spent the evening having...

We live abut 5 minutes from this pub and are fortunate that there are a lot of great pubs to choose from in this area. The Horse and Groom isn't one of them. We decided to pop in for drinks around 6PM (they are not open between 3-6). We had our 1 kilo Chihuahua with us. As I looked over...

There were four of us who stayed weekend 7th/8th October. We have visited the area several times. I would initially like to add that is getting increasing difficult to find a Pub/Inn that is not a 'Boutique' establishment The Horse & Groom was no exception as you could not get any simple food at lunchtime such as a sandwich, ploughman's...

We met here for a family dinner based on the reviews and expected more of a gastro pub experience... Most of what we had was good, but it did depend on what you had... the fish (hake) was really fabulous, but the chips were 'meh' (not proper chips but french fries unfortunately)... the Sunday roast was good, but the roast...

It never fails to delight. I cannot recommend this great gastro pub more highly as it's consistent good service and delicious food are always top notch. Really friendly, helpful staff, where nothing is too much trouble, a great menu with fresh, locally sourced ( so important!) ingredients and specialities. We return again and again and are NEVER disappointed. A real...

We had a delicious 2 course dinner here, service was very friendly and efficient. We did not see the issue with ordering at the bar as described in other reviews, we photographed the menu board and then ordered. Dinner was reasonably priced. Amazing views of the surrounding hills from the garden, not to be missed.

The Horse and Groom is worth a detour. The menu is constructed of fresh produce served in a homely style, but absolutely cooked “a-point.” We especially enjoyed the Plaice and the Guinea Fowl. An inexpensive wine list has some great offerings. In addition in the bar there are very good local beers and ciders. We were also fortunate on a...

I was rather excited to eat here with all the great reviews. We showed up and they said they were full despite seeing empty tables all night. However they allowed us to sit in the bar area. No big deal but was the first thing that struck a nerve. The lady at the bar who took our order had a...

We were a party of 16 all ordering different choices. Seemlessly served without delay and everyone enjoyed it. Most hadn't been before but most said they would go again. Thanks Richard and the team. See you soon.

We had a lovely stay here in this picturesque gastropub come boutique hotel. The rooms are comfortable and elegant and the food is excellent. Attention to detail is second to none. We would absolutely recommend it as being a great place to stay.
