Very friendly hosts - we were warmly welcomed by Gethin and Nicki and immediately made to feel at home. The room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean, with a lovely view onto the garden (with a plentiful supply of homegrown veg!). Delicious breakfast. We would recommend staying at The Grange for a cycling holiday, especially as they have all the facilities you need (secure bike storage, maintenance, washers etc), and it is within easy reach of the Taff Trail (Brecon Beacons). Do ask Gethin for advice on where to go, if you don't know the area. He suggested a great route for us which we thoroughly enjoyed. All in all, a wonderful stay. Thank you Gethin and Nicki!
One of the best bed and breakfasts I have stayed in. Nikki and Gethin do all they can to make you welcome and comfortable. Lovely room, fantastic shower, great nights sleep with big duvet and pillows, and tea on arrival. Will stay every time I am in the area
Very welcoming and friendly start. Nicky & Gethin are very approachable and engaging. Bike store is large with sturdy bike racks and secure (only one entry via a large high secure steel door situated under the owners bedroom). They also provide a jet wash, brushes, Muck Off etc., for a clean post ride. You can also ask for a drying rack (to be left in the bike store overnight) for your clothes/body armour and they have electric shoe warmers to dry out your shoes, very cool. The Blackroom bedroom has a great view over to the viaduct. It's also quiet with respect to outside noise – enabling you to leave the window open during warm nights. Also comes with a roof top terrace that you can sit out on, (two chairs and a table provided). Room well finished off and clean. Some hanging space and a chest of draws for your gear. Very modern bathroom in black and white. Huge shower with a double head and decent water pressure. Quality / fluffy towels and face cloths provided along with decent glasses (no disposable plastic 😊). Nice selection of hand and shower gels also. Beds nice and comfortable (we opted for two singles). Floorboards quite squeaky so if you are a person who gets up in the night, suggest you select the bed nearest the toilet to avoid waking your partner (or Son in my case, 😊).There is also a toilet/shower (I assume) in another room with an ‘electric drain’, this can wake you if you are a light sleeper. Breakfast - decent selection. Full cooked breakfast wholesome and tasty (you must try the speciality sources and spices that Nicky and Gethin have sourced). Netflix on the TV. House account provided which worked ok (glitched out a few times). WiFi provided but the 4G was good so never tested availability / throughput. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room but free tea and coffee provided by the B&B upon request. Dinner maybe available depending on groups/numbers (not sure if this is usual or Covid related i.e. post Covid dinner will be available to all, every night – something to check). First night we brought sandwiches as the option was takeaway only (from local Indian Restaurant) - I left it to the day before arrival to try and book somewhere – way too late especially during Covid. The second evening we had dinner at the guesthouse, shared within another two families, but socially distanced. Gethin and Nicky prepared pulled pork, slow cooked in an American charcoal burner, and homemade cheesecake - very tasty, good portions also. £20 pp for two courses. Beers and spirts all (where possible) locally sourced and reasonably priced (Nicky and Gethin make a big effort to source and promote all local sources which is great – recommend you sample as much locally as you can). Parking - one parking spot per room. Decent spaces and access (if you have a trailer etc., recommend chatting with Nicky and Gethin re. parking logistics. Location to Bike Park Wales - 10minute drive. I didn't look around the local village but it looked quite small with few shops. There are couple of retail parks on the way to Bike Park Wales with fast food options (KFC, MacDonald’s, Subway) and some sit-down options (Frankie and Bennie's, Nando’s etc..). Recommend you book somewhere to eat (if not at the Grange) in good time, especially during Covid. Ask Nicky and Gethin for options if not sure. Would definitely stay again, Nicky and Gethin make every effort to ensure your stay is a good one.…
Just spent 6 nights at The Grange and had a great time. Its a lovely old building with lots of character and Nicky and Gethin are great hosts, really helpful and taking great care with covid. The food is great and they have a great sample of local beers and produce. Rooms and bathrooms great after a day outside. Has a secure lockup and clean down area for bikes. Its a great place to base yourself for Bike Park Wales, Afan Forrest, Cwmcarn and the Brecon Beacons. Totally recommended.
Great overnight stay room and breakfast superb. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. We only stayed here for one night but would definitely return if we were back in the area. Lovely setting looking out at the viaduct.
