This hotel is amazing! They allowed us to check in early and upon asking offered us a free upgrade. The room is breathtaking; amazingly spacious bathroom with even better views (which isn’t shown in pictures enough). I thoroughly recommend getting an opera suite if it is in your budget.
The room itself has everything you need; a coffee machine, 2 wardrobes, comfy bed with net, bluetooth speakers (ask staff to connect) and a sitting area. They offer a turn down service at night where they even left a sachet of relaxing tea on our bed.
The balcony was extremely spacious with views of the lake and heart shaped island they have made. You can see the sunset from the balcony and hear the boats and birds..so relaxing!
ALL staff were amazing throughout our whole stay. They really made the visit and are a credit to the country and the hotel! The manager personally spoke to us a number of times and nothing was too much trouble. He offered a very late check out at no extra cost and sorted out some small issues promptly. The staff on reception were amazing and ensured we had everything we wanted.
The restaurant staff were also great. A special thanks to Bo Ma who looked after us and always had a smile!
The hotel organized taxis to the nearby town, offered free bike rental and helped us to book boat trips. The spa was also great and good value.
The food was good and quite good value for a hotel like this, especially if you stick to traditional Myanmar food. There are a couple of small shops on the same road as the hotel if you want to buy some drinks and snacks at a cheaper price.
I thoroughly recommend this hotel for a relaxing retreat! We stayed 2 nights and it was the perfect treat. Thank you to all staff!

Loved it. Stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 kids

Beautiful resort in a gorgeous place. Our favourite place in Myanmar.

Note if you are coming with kids they will not put an extra bed in the Opera rooms, you need a junior suite (which fits 2 kids) or connecting suites. Get a room overlooking the lake (most of them do but not all). It's worth the extra cost

The hotel will organise all the lake tours and they are really reasonably priced ($40 for a private boat for the day).

Note it gets cold here, it's 10C colder than Yangon. You need a light jacket and sweater for evenings and early mornings.

One minor improvement- the Xmas decorations are a little tacky. The tree in the middle of the lake ruins the view.

You will feel like that you are reaching the separate area of inle. At a glance, Room prices will seem like expensive but if you feel the service and environment of Sofirel, you will realize that the price is reasonable and it’s worth. You don’t need to worrh about food even it’s far from town. There is a nearby restrauant at 1 min drive from hotel. The price is cheap and taste is also good.

We stayed for 5 nights in an over water Opera Suite in January as part of a Luxury Escapes package. The drive from Heho Airport to the hotel is a long drive, ours was at night but it is pretty as you descend the steep mountainous pass toward the lake seeing all the lights shimmering around Inle Lake. The Sofitel is visually spectacular as soon as you enter the property and that impression remains with us even now. Our room was the last Opera suite at the end of the pathway, the very furtherest room from reception; to us this was a bonus as we were able to get some exercise walking to and from the room (when it rained we just called for the buggy service) and we also had more privacy with our room being in a single building with just a room below and a duplex building on one side only. These Opera suites are on the top floor of free standing buildings. Some are duplex buildings and some are single buildings as ours was. The suite was spectacular, ranking amongst the most impressive rooms we have stayed in. Highly featured, modern and tasteful and exceptionally comfortable. Take a look at my attached photos if you have time. The entire property was spotless and meticulously maintained. Our room was serviced well and we didn’t have any complaints about the maid service or room service. There are 2 restaurants on the property and many bars. The upmarket restaurant is near the other end of the line of Opera suite buildings overlooking the Lake. The food and service are excellent, however the menu has a limited choice. We dined here twice and probably would have had difficulty choosing from the menu another time. So, the rest of the meals were had in the main restaurant in the reception building. We ordered from a menu once and the meal was OK but the buffets here were excellent especially the Burmese local buffet. We either ordered a sandwich from room service for lunch or ordered from the menu for lunch in the main restaurant and all breakfasts were eaten in the main restaurant. Breakfast was also very good with a large selection of food. There are two swimming pools, one outside the main restaurant that families seem to frequent and another near the jetty overlooking the water. This was an infinity edge pool and whilst nice, it was well patronised as were the nearby deck chairs so we didn’t swim. We preferred the view to be had from the suite balcony. We did a grasshopper tours cycling and longboat/kayak trip from the hotel arranged online with the tour company and it was a great way to spend the day. On completion of the tour we were delivered back to the jetty at the Sofitel. Id be surprised if there was a more luxurious property near Inle Lake and I’d thoroughly recommend the Sofitel for a relaxing and comfortable stay in a location with a fabulous view. A footnote would be that the rooms surrounding small lakes close to each other at the back of the property near reception didn’t have the same appeal as the waterfront rooms.

Stayed 6 nights at Sofitel Inle Lake. One night at the garden view room and rest of 5 nights at Junior Suite with Lake View ( worth every penny!)

Most reviewers have raved how good this resort is and I won’t be arguing, instead I will share tips on how to get the best while you are here.
1. Book this place when there’s a promotion, go for the Junior Suite with Lake views. I enjoyed 40% off as I booked when they announced a special which Accor tends to have on and off. To be honest, even the Garden views room are also pretty good ( we stayed a night in Garden room...I messed up our booking by accidentally selecting Garden room for two nights but the resort was kind to upgrade us on our second night). I had two separate booking as we decided to stay longer in Inle Lake.
2. Joined their Accor membership, not sure if it is free. But as we are silver elite members, dinning at their restaurants entitles us to 50% discounts. We had to eat at their restaurants every night. There are two restaurants and one has buffet every night of a different theme. Honestly, the food is pretty good! Alternatively, you can ask for their a la carte menu. The other restaurant (Roots) only open for dinner. I would recommend making reservations if you want a good seat by the window)
3. There is a spa there, but when we were there, there was no promotion. However, it didn’t stop us from going there 5 times during our 6 nights stay! Yes, so our spa bills is more than if not the same as my accommodation bill! I had December ( came across a review on her from TA), my fussy hubby had Tina who was also just as good! These girls are very accommodating, they even came back on their off days just to do massage for us as we didn’t want to book when they were off. I highly recommend you make reservations, even though the resort don’t seem to be busy, the spa seems to be booked out most times! There is a package for two person for 135 minutes which is a good deal, but I found out only on our 4 day! So make sure you select carefully to get the best value deal.

I think the training the staff received is one of the best, they were all very eager to please and they also want to improve their English, hence they are eager try to speak to you in English...some of them don’t have good English but majority do.
The staff at Kwee restaurant were very lovely, one girl even came over to our table and encouraged us to try some of the Shan dishes which she got for us ( it was Shan buffet on one of the evenings). I was glad she introduced as it was really delicious- Shan garlic fried rice).

What could be better: housekeeping doesn’t fully replenished the bathroom toiletries, very annoying to have to call and ask for it! And I think they can do a better job at cleaning the rooms. Lucky it’s a new hotel so it’s not too bad. Despite this shortcomings, I’ve decided it is still worth giving them a 5 star overall rating as many of the stafff there were trying to go above and beyond their job scope e.g. Jason wanted to help find the cigarettes brand my hubby smokes when the local shop didn’t have it.

Dear ohvirginia, Thank you for your detailed review and for staying with us recently. Great choice on opting for a Junior Suite on your remaining 5 nights. They are indeed great and located directly on the lake. We appreciate you joining our Accor Plus membership program which as you said, entitles you to fantastic discounts in our restaurants and room rates. I have shared your comments with December, Tina and Jason and all 3 were delighted that you have remembered them. Thank you for that. Likewise, we have taken note of your comments pertaining to Housekeeping and I will address this at once. I am sorry for the requests that you had to make as indeed this should have been anticipated by us. We appreciate your eagerness to return and hope to welcome you back some day. The moment you step in the hotel you will be instantly wowed! The whole resort is so incredibly beautiful and service from staff really is another level.

We did a tour through the hotel which was really reasonably price and personally wouldn’t bother with outside tours which will save you very little. The tours here are flexible but let you see a lot and you only need to give them 30 mins notice.

This hotel is incredible In so many ways but I would recommend a few improvements:

- We requested a airport pick up (which is quite pricey for local standards). Our driver basically told us to get our luggage and meet him outside by the car. Everyone else on our flight who had airport pick ups seemed to have friendly people who waited with them until their bags arrived and helped them with it. For somewhere like Sofitel I would expect service to start from the beginning of the experience not just when you arrive at the hotel.

- As vegetarians we felt the food both at breakfast and evening dinner was limited. Also generally I think food could have been improved for taste quality on the limited vegetarian options at the buffet.

- We thoroughly enjoyed the tour but essentially you end up doing it yourself with very little explanation. We visited a monestary and pagoda but nothing was in English and our boat driver would basically tell us to get off and we’d have to figure out what on the list it was and then just look around.

Despite the above I still give it 5* because it was a great experience staying here. The beautiful grounds, pools and staff really do make it worth staying here. It’s so nice you won’t want to leave and to be honest apart from your tour (which I recommend doing through the hotel) there isn’t much point in leaving at all.

This resort is fairly new and I had heard it was beautiful and we were not disappointed. The rooms on the lake are stunning to wake up to and the entire grounds of the resort are immaculate. We stayed on the lake rooms and one wakes up to see the early morning fishing boats, lovely breakfast to start the day and a gorgeous spot to end the day on the porch watching the sunset. Our only disappointment was that we didn't have more time to relax at the resort as we were out exploring most of the time.

We were there in December so we didn't have a chance to enjoy the pool and it does cool off quite a bit when the sun goes down, but the fire on the porch to warm up to is lovely also. The only knock if it is one is that the food options are a little limited for dinner but one could go into town for lunch or dinners if the day is not crammed with activities.

If we were to return, we would very enthusiastically stay here again.

The architecture, design, interiors and guest accommodations are simply stunning. The location offers tranquility and nature in a beautiful lake side location. Every staff member was friendly, cheerful and went out of their way to give great customer service. Unfortunately, in our consideration, the hotel fell woefully short on its food offering, this based on the price you pay and the segment the hotel is aiming for. Food and beverage prices are, reasonable, but the choice is limited, and the quality good at best, going to poor. Breakfast was the worst. A lack of variety of fresh fruit, (and when you see amazing fruits in the market), juices from a carton, the same small sweet bites every day, and the same cake brought out two days running, that was too dry to eat. The second day we asked to speak to the F and B manager as breakfast was so poor. Nobody was available, so the 'in charge' senior staff member tried his very best to apologize and resolve the situation, which he could not, as he simply didn't have the means. We remarked about the cake, and we saw somebody test it for freshness. It was removed, and a red velvet cake from the buffet of the night before was produced. Even drier! On the third morning, a new cake appeared, the rest the same, and some different fruit. Would this have happened if we, and another two tables not have complained? One night there was an 'international buffet'. Clearly, it was heavily Italian biased, as there was a large group of Italians in the hotel, probably on a half board rate. It was very average too. Feeling very disappointed, we asked to speak to the GM, but were told there was none available as he shuttles between both the Sofitel and Novotel. Clearly he needs to prioritise the groups 5* property! Despite our attempts to speak to a manager, there was no follow-up of any kind, or recovery attempt. Very unprofessional.
Sofitel need to pay attention to the maintenance of the property, as already, two years in, many wooden finishes are in need of treatment, and many areas of soft furnishings in the restaurants and bars are disgustingly stained and dirty.
Finally, the two pools are unheated, and if you can find the courage to get it, it really is not pleasant. Why not heat at least one? So inviting, but an endurance, not a pleasure.
We paid for our Opera Suite, as a 60th birthday 3 night stay - it wasn't a complimentary upgrade! We don't want to sound picky but however stunning this hotel is visually, and with its people, it has some way to go to hit true 5 star quality. We hope they make it, and ongoing focus is given to maintenance. Please also have a senior management to support their team, and be visible, when problems arise, and to ensure a professional service recovery and follow up.

Dear grahamw667, Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us and comment on your recent stay at Sofitel Inle Lake Myat Min. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the quality of service, tranquility, decoration and nature of our resort. However, allow me to show disappointment when I read your comments regarding your culinary experience. It is very unfortunate and I would like to apologize if we did not meet your expectations. I personally asked to investigate the different occurrences in order to address the issues raised. Be assured that we are taking guest comments with a high level of concern as we always strive to deliver the best quality of service. I would also like to personally apologize for not being able to meet you during your stay. I believe your comments were shared with the team and my understanding was that you had the opportunity to meet with our Front Office Manager. Unfortunately, the timing did not allow us to meet and I regret that we could not respond to your needs in a satisfactory manner. I am confident that my team would have done its best to assist you though I understand your feelings of let down in some areas. Once again, we take great pride in welcoming our guests with the luxury standards we are globally better known for. However it is obvious that we failed during your stay and I have taken the liberty to share your comments with the entire team to make sure that such situation does not recur in the future. Thank you for your review and please let us know if your travel plans bring you back to Inle Lake as we would very much welcome the opportunity to redeem ourselves and make sure that your next stay goes beyond your expectations. Kind Regards, General Manager

Had a 2 night stay here earlier this month. Essentially a resort which is spread out and surrounds Hotels own rice fields and vegetable gardens which are still a work in progress and backs on to Inle Lake. At Check-in we were introduced to the Hotels Manager Thomas whom we had ongoing interaction with and it was nice that he could be seen walking around keeping an eye on "things" rather than sitting in an office. Overall the Resort which is about 18 months old is very clean and modern and well maintained. We had a Suite (Opera Suite) with a Lake View which had plenty of space and an extra large bathroom. The best part was that it also had an extensive outside area overlooking the lake and it was magnificent to either sit inside or out looking at the lake and the mountains in the distance. On the 2nd day we enjoyed watching a fantastic sunset over the lake accompanied by a beverage.

The Hotel has 2 restaurants and we used both. Food and Service was good without being outstanding. The resort also has 2 swimming pools but we thought the water was just a little too cool for optimum comfort.

Thanks to Lim for his great service at the Bar and Roots Restaurant.

Overall there is very little to not be happy with at this Hotel. My rating of 4 stars is probably a little harsh and I would rate it 4.5+ stars if I could. Overall we just felt that more of the staff could have been more friendlier and attentive. The Hotel is similar in style to the Pullman Hotel in Luang Prabang Laos which we stayed at last year and we felt that the service at this Hotel was superior and staff overall more friendlier - but I'm probably been a little picky in saying this.

Would not hesitate to stay at Sofitel Inle Lake if I was to return to the area again.

Best place in Nyaung Shwe.
Well, Sofitel never fails to satisfied me no matter where.
This one in Nyaung Shwe is a paradise. We went there and spend a night in Sofitel during our trip to Taunggyi in December 2019.
Perfect view facing the lake, spacious compound with very little noise.
After a boat trip to Phaung Thaw Oo, we spent pretty much most of our day in their swimming pool. The bar and restaurant by the pool side was amazing. Beef Capaccio was my favorite. The service team was very professional with great attention, knowing what the guests might need at all time.
Breakfast was exceptional.

We were there in mid November 2019. The weather was quite warm during the day but as soon as the sun set, it became a bit chilly (down to 18-20 C). The pools were clearly not heated and felt really fresh. We certainly would have enjoyed them more had they been warmer.

Yes you can go there. Firstly you’ve to make booking at hotel and after arrive at Nyaung Shwe, call the Hote directly. They will arrange private car for you or your group. You have to pay for bus, one to three persons, 28 USD $. Because of hotel is situated very close to Inlay Lake and a little far from Nyaung Shwe bus station. Sorry for my late reply because of I’m a little busy in this week. Preparing new tour plans for coming hot air balloon season. Welcome to Myanmar. 🙂

Dear young family from Banbury, uk. i was travelling as a couple so i havent noticed different room layouts. but since the upper pool was more a family pool i am sure they will have connected rooms, maybe the bungalows (suite style as well) towards the lake are made for family's. i suggest to email the hotel, they will do the best to suit you. cheers from munich
