This was our fourth visit to Les Bellugues, and it was every bit as good as previous stays. Yves and Pascal are quietly attentive hosts who have created an oasis of calm in bustling Saint-Jean-du -Gard. The rooms are simple but comfortable and spotlessly clean, breakfasts are excellent - the artisanal chestnut honey a highlight- and the pool area is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the pretty garden. Highly recommended.
In walking distance from the centre of the village. Spacious room with bathroom and toilet separate. Good linen and towels. Swimming pool - nice and clean. Next to very nice restaurant. Friendly and helpful manager. Quiet area - off the street. Can recommend it!
Ideally situated for the town and if you are taking a trip on the steam train. Rooms are basic and clean. Shower and toilet were in separate rooms. No hairdryer. Bedside lamps are low down, might need to borrow some paperback books from the rack outside your room to get more height. Selection of board games too. Sadly the pool had no water in it ??. Very disappointed as the weather was perfect and would have been nice to use the pool. Large car park, small sheltered covered area for bikes. Breakfast was basic. No fridge or safe in the room.
Good basic base for eastern Cévennes. Air con, clean, very friendly hosts. Quiet but. Central situation, take ear plugs as town bell tower rings on the hour through the night. Worth opting for breakfast as limited options in town
The hotel is located in the small town of Saint Jean du Gard. It is possible to walk from the bus stop or from the steam train station to the hotel. This is a smaller hotel situated in a one storey building. The room was normal in size and bright but very simply decorated. The air conditioner made the room cold. The double bed was too soft and narrow and hard to sleep in. The bathroom and toilet are separate but are available to each room. The whole bathroom was new with a good shower. However, it had a moldy smell that we think came from the brick wall that had been left completely untreated. The room had free wifi, there was no safe or kettle and the TV had only had French channels. The hotel has a very nice beautiful garden with a lawn, pool and sunbeds. However, free pool towels are not included which is a bit strange. Also, there is no toilet at the pool. The hotel has no restaurant or bar but you could buy drinks from the reception via a courtesy bar. Note that the Les Bellugues restaurant is not part of the hotel and is a completely separate building. The breakfast was a traditional minimalistic continental which was served at the table with bread, croissants, marmalade, honey and no other toppings, no cheese, no ham. Juice and yoghurt were included. It was possible to eat breakfast at the pool if desired. The reception from the staff was correct but somewhat chilly. For example, after checking out, we had the opportunity to leave our luggage a few hours awaiting our bus. When we wanted to borrow a toilet before we went then this was not possible. We lacked warmth and enthusiasm from the staff. Maybe it would have been a different feeling if we had been french speaking guests. It is unlikely we would stay here again if we again visited Saint Jean du Gard.…
