A beautiful experience. It is a great place with great staff and facilities. Right between Karon beach and Kata beach, you can enjoy where you want. Are just few meters by the beach, which is very clean.
Surrounded by terraces, restaurants, bars and markets, all is at your hand. (100m). Taxi stands are 20 m away by the gate and are not "sharks" :)
Very clean rooms, some rules (!!!) but are welcomed if we consider some guest's behavior. The restaurant and bar are ok, front desk very well prepared and informed. And HELPFUL. The pool is very clean and well maintained.
Thank you for upgrade as we stayed at the top with a nice sea view. The sunset is amazing.
The Christmas Eve was very nice organized, lot of surprises and great entertainment. Thank you for your effort, guys! Definitely I'll be back.

We had a perfect week at Karona resort and spa. Everyone was superfriendly and so helpful. Great location with a 2-3 minutes walk to the beach. The pool and pool area was nice and relaxing. The room was nice, could maybe need some upgrading, but was overall very pleasant. I want to thank Maew and the boy in the reception, as they were very serviceminded and made our stay extra good

I recently stayed at this hotel for five nights at a very decent rate of just over US$40 a night. Despite this being a 3-star basic resort, the service was superb from the time I checked in until I checked out. The service at their restaurant was prompt and attentive which put many 5-star establishments to shame. The bell boys even took the trouble to remember me and my room number. They threw in an airport transfer when I checked out. When I inquired about visiting a ceramic workshop, without any prompting from me, the staff arranged for the driver to do a detour to the ceramic workship on the way to the airport, so as to help me save time and cost. All the staff were friendly with a ready smile for everyone throughout my stay there. Phuket needs more places like to lure back the tourists after the tsunami.

We stayed at this hotel during a very busy travel time, the first week of Chinese New Year's. We booked our hotel the day before we stayed and we had trouble finding available rooms at several hotel we tried. Luckily, we there was space for us at Karona.

The service was excellent when we first arrived. They asked us to sit down and gave us a fruit-y welcome drink and cool towel while they checked us in. We booked a deluxe room but since those were all full, they upgraded us to the Junior Suite on the 5th floor.

The room was much nicer than we expected. The hotel must be fairly new because it wasn't on any maps that we had from our travel books, and the rooms looked new. There are a lot of beautiful tile and ceramic pieces in the room. It was very clean inside. The best part was the views we had of the sea and the hotel pool.

The location of the hotel is excellent. It's across the street from the south end of Karon beach, and a couple of minutes to the Kata shopping center. I read about Patong and knew that I did not want to stay there so I was happy with the low key location we chose.

One of the best things about this hotel is the breakfast buffet. It's a big spread with an eggs/omelette station, a good selection of Western breakfast items, and a couple of Thai food choices.

Service at the hotel was mostly wonderful. The woman working at the trip booking desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The Chilies restaurant has a limited menu but everything we tried there was delicious. The drinks, especially the watermelon shake, are not to be missed.

My only caveat about the hotel is that they usually have a male and female singing duo in the evenings that are pretty bad. They cover Western songs that are so bad, they're good.

Phuket was so hot that it was nice to be able to come back to a lovely room during the middle of the afernoon to cool down and relax. Staying at this hotel was one of the highlights of our trip in Thailand. I highly recommend it.

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel last month (July 2004). Very friendly staff. Rooms are big. We got a room with a seaview (Karon beach). 2 nicely laid out pools. Kids would love it. Mine did. Limited food choice at Chillies restaurant but not bad. Basic amenities in the room. We got it as a holiday package deal and it was very cheap. So I feel we got more than what we paid for.

Resort is surrounded by trees and lots of stairs. Spa offers all the basic Thai massage / Aromatherapy massage, etc.

This resort is more suited to couples as it offers a lot of privacy, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. If I go back to Phuket, I would more likely stay at another hotel which offered more children facilities.

Public beach is 5 minutes walking distance away

It is 15 minutes (drive) from the crowded Pattong area. Almost an hour from the airport. Kata shopping district (a whole street) is at 5-7 minutes walking distance. Lots of restaurant. And a GREAT Second Hand Bookstore.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days in March 05. It's true to say it's not the height of luxury but it is a good 3* standard. We wanted for nothing and could not really find fault at all.
If you like a bit of peace but are also within easy reach of shops and bars then this is place for you. It is a small resort, just moments from Karon beach, with most of the rooms (deluxe) in a 3 or 4 storey building, although the layout, trees and lovely gardens disguise the fact that it is not low level very well. The remaining rooms (superior or 'batik') are single storey and are in the gardens, closer to the bar and restaurant, although we did not find it noisy at all. The better garden rooms were the ones set slightly further away from the bar as they were more private. We had a superior (garden) room and it was clean, quite spacious, but also quite basic. It had 2 single beds rather than a double (but you can push them together). We believe the hotel now offers suites (which weren't available in 2005). Note that there are steps to all rooms except for those right next to the entrance.
The best features of this hotel in our view are the pool, which is really lovely, and the size of the hotel in that it's not too big. The pool's on 2 levels and is cool and beautifully tiled with mosaics. The bottom level is also shaded by the trees. The upper pool is suitable for children as well as adults and there's a pool bar which also serves snacks. There is a spa which was very nice indeed albeit a little pricey. My partner had a massage and he said it was wonderful. The restaurant offered good food - breakfast excellent - but for dinner we found better value and choice in nearby Kata, which was just a few minutues' stroll away. We found the hotel's website to be helpful and accurate
The best restaurant nearby was The Rock which can be reached via Karon beach (far south end) or from the Karon-Kata street. Food and ambiance were really excellent! But you need to book if you want a table directly overlooking the sea.
For trips to Phi Phi by speed boat we absolutely recommend Off Spray - ask at any dive shop and they should be able to book it for you.

We stayed here for 10 nights with a family of 5. We had a good offer for this July period for 2 rooms including breakfast. In total 31000 Bath.
The 2 rooms (603+604) were with doors in between that could be opened turning it into a family room.
The first impression when arriving is very impressive. Nice reception area and the rooms were magnificant! Nice tiles, which you can find back in the showers and throughout the whole resort. A good designer has been at work at this resort!

It is a typical honeymoon resort. The couples were all over themselves all the time....in the pool, on the chairs. That's how it should be, but can become a little annoying :-)

Negative points:
- small balcony
- no elevator
- although plenty of choice there is no variation in the breakfast
- ladies behind the reception were friendly on arrival, but afterwards the service could have been better suiting the friendliness of the other staff
- the speaker of the football tournament, taking place at the stadium next door this period, could be heard clearly
- Chillies restaurant for dinner: service took too long

Good points:
- buffet breakfast
- 2 layer swimmingpool
- sea- and pool view
- very friendly staff
- location (not in Patong!)
- shampoo and bath gel: very nice smell!
- low noise airco in the rooms
- close to the beach

Ive just returned from Phuket last week and stayed 2 weeks at the Karona - Firstly some of the previous comments about this hotel are not true certainly not when we stayed. - We arrived at 9pm after 18 hrs travelling - drinks and towels awaited us after we were picked up at the airport.

Breakfast was superb - Egg / omelette station making anything you want including fresh pancakes / waffles - selection of fresh fruit / Thai / even good old bacon albeit "streaky. - overload on service - tea and coffee topped up instantly - staff very friendly

Rooms were basic but aircon was fantastic particularly after a steamy day in the 90 degree heat - Bathroom was fab with the best "walk in shower / wet room" ever - complementary water shampoos, soaps, towels and the maid cleaned every day even leaving flowers on the pillow each night - Our room (412+413) was adjoining and very spacious - agreed you couldnt swing a cat on the balcony although room 412 next to us had a massive balcony??

The restaurant was great and each time you visit it gets cheaper as they stamp your card each time with a higher discount although after 2 visits I didnt bother as there are so many places to eat.

The massage parlour on the corner outside the hotel was great 300 THB for a massage when the hotel charged 1700. - agreed the taxi / Tuk Tuk drivers were annoying but after a few days they know your face and leave you alone

Listen - I paid 39000 THB for 14 days for 4 people (less than £20 per night) with breakfast and airport transfers and this is the best value for money hotel I have ever stayed at -

The staff are great, the location is great and is towards the "Kata Beach" end of Karon as the opposite end of Karon is "tacky" with nothing but Tailors and cheap souvenir shops. If you like football there is a small stadium across the road where all locals play - great entertainment - They even asked me and my son if we would play for the hotel team.

Like everything it depends on what you want - its not 5* luxury agreed but for the price and location its spot on and only 100yds from the beach -

Stayed at Karona from 12-15 Dec 06. Don't be fooled by the drive way...the interior decor is pleasing to the eyes, with matching water theme all over- I love it! Even though the place is full of caucasians (not that I mind), we Asians were treated equally. The hotel team was fantastic! Simply warm and welcoming! Another plus point is that the beach is just right across the road, and that the eateries around the area are great (i would recommend a cheap and wonderful roadside seafood restaurant-'Best Friend': just turn right and walk straight along the main road.)! Oh and one more thing! We were given a free upgrade to a Deluxe room as all the superior rooms were in use. The Deluxe room is huge: a queen bed plus a single bed and a wooden day bed! I totally enjoyed my stay in Karona.

The Good
Location - conveniently located between karon/kata beaches. Short walking distance to a small quiet kata town.
Restaurant - plenty of wonderful small restaurants around. Try the Rock and Chillies.
Spas - we've been to a few resort spas but the 2 masseuses (sp?) were the best.
Services - great service. Anything you want, you'll get.

The Bad - the pestering taxi drivers at the street entrance of the resort. The balcony were small and smelly.

Overall: For a small type resort, you cannot beat the karona resort/spas. The price and the services were excellent. Strongly recommended.
