We arrived in a new area to us and from the moment we walked into the hotel, we felt very welcome. The receptionist made us very welcome and explained the Covid 19 restrictions in full. Our room had been unused for 3 days and then deep cleaned, we had the option to allow staff in each day or not, we chose to wait 3/4 days before allowing for some cleaning. A wonderful view down Lake Brienz greeted as we walked in.

Due to Covid the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, although the Pizza and Pasta section is open. When we had our first restaurant meal it was outstanding as was the service from the staff. We enjoyed 5 days of superb food and service, we laughed so often at the fun and mischief of the staff. Social distancing and cleanliness was very good.

The hotel is wonderfully positioned looking down Lake Brienz, the Lake Steamer stops 200 metres from the front door and the regular bus service to Interlaken and Isaltwelt is half hourly. Lots of good flat walks and loads of activities. While we were there the Seaplane Pilots Association had a meeting and we watched the seaplanes taking off and landing. The Outdoor Activities team finished their sessions in front of the hotel and all occupants of the boats joyfully leapt into the water providing great entertainment.

This hotel and area provides a great centre to explore the Bernese Oberland and all its wonderful experiences,

This hotel comes highly recommended. Thank you very much to everyone at Hotel Seiler au Lac.

If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful base for your trip to Interlaken, this is the place. The location right on the shores of Lake Brienz is breathtaking. And, it is so quiet that you can sleep with your balcony doors open and breathe in the fresh mountain lake air. Yes, the finishes inside the hotel are in need of updating, but it is clean and very functional. And the price point represents such a value that one can essentially eat for free at the nearby Michelin one star and Bibb Gourmand restaurants which are not to be missed. Very friendly team to welcome you and a convenient and clean free bus that stops right outside the hotel every 30 minutes and will drop you within a block or two of your restaurant destination. And, more importantly, take you home safe and sound.

My hubby and I stayed at this hotel for two nights to explore Interlaken and Jungfrau Jorch. Its location takes you a bit farther away from Interlaken OST train station which is the main station to get to Jungfrau and where downtown Interlaken is. However, the view from the balcony was too amazing not to book this hotel. It is located right across from Brienzersee ( Lake Brienz). You can get on a cruise ship pretty much right out side of the hotel. The bus ride to Interlaken OST station is only 10minutes or so. Also, with the pass the hotel gives, all the buses are free.

The hotel does not have an ac as many hotels don’t in Switzerland but provided a fan. With a fan, we were able to sleep much better.
The amenities are old and unimpressive ( especially, soap dispensers in the bathroom. It is impossible squeeze the bottle to have liquid soap out).

The breakfast was nothing more than standard Swiss buffet breakfast. Unimpressive. No sweet pastries other croissants and loads of bread or only boiled eggs, no scrambled or omelette. Not to mention that a lot flies enjoying all the food before you get to them.
The eateries are very limited in the area so it would be smart to make sure you find some place to eat before coming back to the hotel since there are a lot of options in Interlaken. Or you can always eat at the Hotel restaurant. The food was decent but the reservation is recommended.
(Pizzeria, cheaper option at the hotel is closed on Wednesday, so if you are looking for rather affordable meals and more variety, you should definitely eat in the downtown area.)

Overall, it was not a bad stay overall. Whatever this hotel lacks can all be forgotten by the amazing view of Lake Brienz.

Thank you for your rating. For breakfast, we have a European-Swiss buffet. We have 8 different types of bread, all handmade by our village baker with cereals from the canton of Bern, even the toast. We also prepare gluten free bread on request. We offer butter, jams, Nutella, etc. Breakfast cereals, corn flakes, various yoghurts and homemade Birchermüesli, fresh fruit, fruit salad, vegetables and dried fruits. A large cheese platter with good Swiss cheese, ham and salami completes the buffet. The hot part of the buffet consists of hard- and soft-boiled eggs as well as scrambled eggs and roasted bacon. We also pay attention to the regional origin of all products. Therefore, we believe that we offer a very good breakfast. Of course, we have a variety of fruit and fruit juices and the coffee is brought to your reserved table in silver pots. We ask our guests if there is anything they would like to see at the breakfast buffet and try to accommodate them accordingly. I can happen that there are flies at the buffet, we do our best to send them away.. I think, this is a problem all over the world. we hope to see you again at he lake of Brienz and remain with best wishes Stefan Zingg and Team

The hotel provided us (we are a family from Ukraine, the city of Kharkov) with a free room for several days on the third floor with a beautiful view of the fabulous lake. For my parents, who lived in a war zone for a month and a half, this hotel in Bonigen brought some solace to their wounded soul. Thank you very much to the administration for kindness, excellent service and the manifestation of the most beautiful human qualities in support and understanding. May prosperity, peace and harmony always be with you!!!

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The owner obviously took pride in the hotel and wanted us to feel at home. He showed us a booklet with the history of the hotel since his family took it over which was really interesting.

Our room was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was a little dated but functional. In fact, some newer hotels could take lessons in cleaning from them. Our room overlooked the lake and it was very relaxing sitting on the balcony.

The location was ideal. It was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Interlaken but just a short bus ride away. The hotel gave us a guest card which gave us access to free public transport.

Breakfast had a wide variety of choices and the quality of the food was excellent. We ate at the pizzeria one night and it was very good. In fact, we hoped to go back but it is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

If we are lucky enough to ever return to Switzerland, we will not hesitate to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights late June celebrating our 50th anniversary. Stefan and his staff made our celebration even more special with their warm and welcoming attention. We dined at both of the restaurants while there and thought that it was some of the best food we had enjoyed during our 10 days in Switzerland. Jennifer, in the French restaurant made sure our anniversary dinner was a true celebration with her special touches. By the time we checked out, we felt we had made a new friend. The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable, and the view was unbelievable. Bonigen is a small village close to Interlaken, and the hotel is right on the lake with both boat and bus transportation very close by. The breakfast buffet was very good and included scrambled eggs and bacon which we had not had at other accommodations. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, but the thing that really stood out to us was the wonderful atmosphere provided by the staff. We would love to return in the future.

My 25th visit to Seiler Au Lac! The staff were all most kind, efficient, attentive, knowledgeable and working to the usual high standards. The rooms have a distinctive style and outlook, particularly those with balcony looking down the lake.. They are impeccably serviced and very comfortable. The lake view in all its moods never ceases to enthrall. Ease of travel to Interlaken and beyond via the free local bus service is an added bonus. I used both restaurants: beautiful views of lake Brienz with service, quality of food and range of menus to match.

A super friendly, helpful staff. Stayed for a long weekend in the off-season. Spectacular view with a balcony. Decor is purposefully 80s. Clean with huge tub, but not a traditional shower. Cleaning staff was quick and thorough, done when we returned from breakfast. Breakfast included eggs, bacon, fruit, croissants, and more. Very filling. Price was reasonable. It’s just across from the Bonigen-See bus stop and local public transport was included with the hotel stay. Best of all there is a wireless phone charger that worked with all out iPhones. This is nice when you don’t have all the different chargers. For Switzerland, this is a great value. We will stay again!

Seiler au Lac is a very nice Hotel, situate in front of Lake Brienz. You can walk to Interlaken by the Aare River.
The food is delicious. The staff is very professional, helpful and very friendly. The boats that tour the Lake is
just few steps from the Hotel. The bus that takes you to Interlaken and Itselwald is in also few steps from the Hotel.

We were lucky enough to book a week's holiday in this fabulous family run hotel situated in Bönigen overlooking Lake Brienz. We had a lovely large room with a balcony overlooking the lake. Stefan and his team were so friendly and helpful with everything. We really had a fabulous stay. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. The evening meals were absolutely fantastic. We were both excited each evening to see what was going to be on our menu!! The adjoining pizzeria was also superb and again plenty of choice on their menu.
The hotel is conveniently located for buses into Interlaken and further connections within the Jungfrau region. Another added bonus was the Brienz cruise boat which stops 2 minutes away from the hotel.
We would both thoroughly recommend Seiler au Lac and we would have no hesitation in booking to stay there again. Thank you to Stefan and your team for making our holiday so enjoyable.
Jon and Julia Lawton.

Dear Daisy W I reviewed only the restaurant in the hotel. I didn't stay there. But the hotel is in a great place with lake view. It is a few minutes drive from the center. As I saw it is usually very quite in the area. Not too many tourists. It was great. Yes, many stores are closed on Sunday and even restaurants. We stayed on Sunday near Lucerne and it was difficult to find an open restaurant. I don't know how it is in Interlaken or Lucerne. You can find information about every restaurant in a simple google search. The say when they are open. Wish you a very good vacation!!!!
