Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our first visit at Lauswold was a great experience: the location, the atmosphere, the accommodation, the dinner/ breakfast arrangement, the service and outdoor activties. The rooms and beds are above standard and make the stay more than a night over.

Great place. Beautiful location, very friendly staff and food is amazing. We tried both restaurants and the bar all great options and big portions. The amenities are great. Pool and spa are amazing. You can rent bikes and stroll around the forest or the cutest little town close by.

Handsome and welcoming former country house with a lot of architectural additions to accommodate the needs of a modern hotel. In noticeably good repair and in a very rural setting, it certainly gives a very good impression on arrival. It's very easy to find, and has plenty of parking. When the main car park gets full at night there is always room in the nearby overflow areas. It's also just as encouraging inside, and all the public areas are bright, attractive and well- presented. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and, indeed, all the staff that we met were generally cheerful and quite amiable. We were staying in a deluxe suite which, we were told, had just been modernised, and it certainly looked quite fresh and new with its caramel and grey decor. There was a bowl of fruit waiting on arrival, and a bottle of still water was provided every day. The room configuration is not uncommon in hotels, viz. large, wide, comfortable bed facing the window overlooking the front lawn, with a very capacious wardrobe and storage unit directly behind the headboard. Hot beverage and minibar facilities were in the hallway area. A contemporary bathroom was tucked away at the back of the suite; bags of room with a spacious shower that was a pleasure to use. However, we were rather irritated by the individual wash basins with their rigid taps extending from front to back just a few inches above the rim thus making face washing far messier than it needed to be. The room was serviced quite adequately and there were clears signs of vigorous hoovering but usually some bed-based item like a pillow or the end runner would be left on a chair needing to be put back on our return. Equally, the quantity and condition of towels became a lottery from day to day. Due to the convenient position of our room, it was just a quick trot down the corridor to the timed breakfast each morning which was taken in the lovely dining room overlooking the rear gardens. This place has maintained some of its original parts and is quite ornate with some impressive chandeliers. The basic breakfast output never changes and features a lot of bread and a bit of ham and cheese although egg options can also be requested. There is a rather unexciting yoghurt/cereal bar elsewhere in the room. Nonetheless, it's all conducted very efficiently and is a good start to the day. We visited the lounge bar each evening. Again, another pleasant area with good raised views over the front lawn. Staffing at this time can be hit and miss as personnel double up elsewhere, so the wait for someone to appear can drag on. We didn't try the spa or indoor pool area, but we noticed that the latter is clearly popular with small children. We sampled the in-house bistro one evening which was ok but we didn't get round to the main restaurant - the menu seems to be a bit of a secret. There are enough restaurants in Beetsterwaag or nearby Drachten to provide decent alternatives. We were using the Lauswolt as a base for touring around Friesland and it was certainly handy for all the places we wanted to visit, and the Dutch road system is really quite excellent for such an activity. But whilst there may have been a few wrinkles during our stay, we actually rather did enjoy our visit.

Lovely luxurious hotel in beautiful grounds. We stayed off season. The pool was lovely part in doors, part out. Staff were excellent. We took our dog too. We didn’t appreciate you could not dine with him so we were sad not to try the Michelin star food. You can only take dogs in the bar. However staff set us up a table in the bar and served the Bistro menu. We had a young man serving us who was excellent. The bistro food was outstanding. The grounds were extensive and perfect for dog walks.

Wonderful Hotel surrounded by a picture perfect golf club and forest. The rooms are spacious, recently renovated and extremely comfortable. The main restaurant diner De Heeren van Harinxma is wonderful. The food is innovative and extremely well accomplished. The reviews spoke very highly of this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The menu is set but you can choose how many plates you wish to have. All were very well crafted with local fresh produce and it’s difficult to describe how well accomplished and tasty every dish was. The vaccination certificate was required as was the use of antibacterial gel before entering the restaurant which is very comforting. Overall a wonderful place with top quality service and an extraordinary restaurant.
