This is a delightful hotel! I was really torn between staying here and closer to town as I hate having to take taxis everywhere but I am so happy I chose Zocalo! It’s high up on a mountain and I am fairly certain has the best view of the lake. Gorgeous landscaping, a row of hammocks and cute cottages make it an ideal setting to relax. I never had to walk up the hill - I took the number of the first tuk tuk that brought me to town (Julian- I think the hotel always calls him first for tuk tuk requests) and used WhatsApp to request rides back to the hotel, he always arrived within ten minutes and the ride back is quick and pleasant. He was even able to take me and my two very heavy bags up the hill to the hotel. If you want to flag a tuk tuk in town I’d say look for the larger ones as those seem to have more power to get up the hill. Breakfast was decent, but I loved Luigi’s Pizzeria or a La Turka for dinner/lunch!

this hotel is a hidden gem. beautiful, simply amazing. It transports you to what was originally an Antioquia town. Its cabins are comfortable, carefully decorated and above all impeccable, its location in the middle of the mountain guarantees the best views and tranquility. As if that were not enough, the attention cannot be better. you must to visit.

Chose this place for 3 days during my visit to my gf in Colombia, ive been changing many hotels during my vacation yet this one goes to another level. View its AMAZING, i had a problem with my card before arrivals, yet they didnt cancel my reservation and took the payment from my other working card without even flinch. Staff very very attentive, we got the top apartment with the best view ever. Breakfast traditional and very good, and im a chef. Location just at the feet de le Piedra, very easy to get to, as very easy to get to the Guatape Village, and to finish off, i forgot my leather jacket with my house keys, well they sent it back to my gf house in Bogota via post. What can i say, will be back for sure, highly racomanded!

Enjoyed my one night stay in a charming hillside cabin. Staff was friendly and helpful for the most part - they eagerly arranged my taxi transfer to the Medellin Airport. Room was cozy and functional, there were some flying insects, but that is to be expected in this climate at night.

Was a little disappointed that the promised breakfast was not served (and there was no one around, just an abandoned plate of fruit on a table). It's also annoying that you can't walk directly from the property over to the steps to reach the Piedra. There is a chain link fence which requires you to walk all the way down the hotel's steep drive way and then follow the road around to the base of the steps.

Definitely take the little tuk tuk taxis to/from the town center - it is too far to walk and they aren't that expensive.

I can not say enough about the beauty of the hotel and the great customer service we received. It is a beautiful hotel. Cabins are so colofor and tastefully decorated. Even the toilet rims and sinks are unique. It is in a perfect location only steps away from La Piedra El Penol.

In addition, the staff are so professional and accomodating. Every single staff we met was very helpful.

This was by far one of the best places we stayed in our 10-day trip in Colombia.

The location, the workers, and the view was my absolute favorite part! I wish the beds were more comfy but they were a bit hard. Also the water in the shower was hot but it would fill up quick so I had to use my sandals. The chef was able to accommodate me with my vegan needs which was great. My husband enjoyed his food. I would definitely stay here again tho. Especially for the price, can’t beat that. Thank you to the sweet girls! Really appreciated their smiles and help! Something to note, as they mentioned in previous comments, not all tuctucs go up the hill to the hotel as it is very steep, so make sure you ask. We did have to walk a few times but we didn’t mind it but if you aren’t used to it then it might be a challenge. The tuc tuc is 15 thousand pesos each way, which is like $3. Worth it to go into town. Also there is only WiFi in the reception area, not the rooms. In case that’s important to you.

This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in Colombia.  If you are reading this review, think no more and live here!  Very cozy, green, beautiful.  Just fabulous houses.  It is located right under Piedra del Piñol.  In the morning we sat on the terrace for an hour and admired the view and listened to the birds.  Beautiful panorama.  A huge plus, in the morning you can walk to the Piedra and be there before all the tourists.
The room is clean, has everything you need.  Air conditioning is not needed, cool at night.  In the morning, a pleasant woman prepares breakfast.  Everything is fresh and tasty.  You can always have coffee and tea at the reception.  All the staff are very friendly and always helpful.
The city can be reached day and night on motochivos.

Lovely, tranquil, relaxed accommodation with a fantastic view and exceedingly helpful reception staff. We loved it.
PS. Don't be put off by the location - it's only a cheap tuk tuk ride from the town.
