Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hello everyone, I am daniela quintero and I want to talk to you about a beautiful place located in the north of Antiquia.
it is called don matias, in my opinion it is a very nice town with a very rich food. Their typical dish is called the blessed chicharron and I love it.
It is a very well known town in Antioquia for its textile industry. Don Matias has about 127 clothing factories.
It is also well known for its pork production, since this is the first municipality in these practices in Antioquia.
Don matias has 22,243 inhabitants.
I love Don Matias and I hope you visit it soon.

This place is hands down one of the most unique, fabulous places I have ever stayed. The food is amazing, the rooms are perfectly rustic! (I'm a sucker for a wood burning fireplace) I was blown away by the service, and the personality of a certain employee. I don't speak spanish and he had me in stitches. This place is a great, private getaway. Everywhere you look, there's a little nook to sit, read and just be grateful you get to experience such a great little island. You can even stay in a teepee!!! WHAAAAA? How amazing is that! Perfect romantic getaway.

The place is awsome, there is always a beautiful view of the lake and there are fireplaces in the cabins, you may take a bottle of wine and it is for sure a lovely date. There are however, some issues like no soap in the shower that could be improved by the management. Important tip: Only cash is accepted.

This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Awaken every morning and experience the dawn in absolute silence. Simple rooms, very adequately appointed with cable television for those who do not want complete isolation. A small cozy fireplace in each room for those chilly nights. There is access to kayaking the lake and transport by boat to the town of Guatape and El Penol mountain.

This is really a unique place, even the boat journey to this remote, beautiful island is amazing. We had such an amazing time here, it is so relaxing, with superb friendly, attentive staff and delicious food. We loved our time here... the views are beautiful and it is just a perfect place to relax...you can completely switch off and just enjoy beautiful Guatape!!

Don´t get me wrong, the place is very nice. However I have to tell my experience. I got to the Hotel through Hotels.com App and made my reservation. I was thrilled because it seemed very nice, one day I decided to make an extra arrangement so I called the property to do so and gave my reservation number, Surprise!!!! NO reservation under that code, they advertise themselves through this app but then don't recognize business with them. I had a lot of problems with this Hotels.com didn't care and I had to do it all again with the property triple the price almost. We got there and the first lie is that they are close to the Peñol (big rock) they are not and if you want to leave the hotel to go somewhere else is very expensive, you have to rent a boat. Second lie, the weather here is cool and it says they have a climated pool, not true! water in the pool is really cold. Third lie: it says in the reservation Wifi, well it doesn't work either, you are very lucky if you go up in the hill, climb a tree and get some signal in your phone, so if you want to disconnect is ok, but ir you need communication think twice. Lie four: the rooms have TV but no signal either.
The staff is nice and try to give a good service, although the time we went there were only three in the hotel and one of them was the cook, administrator, handyman all in one!!! pour guy, if you look for someone after 10pm it is scarry, there is no one to ask for help of any kind, you don't know where they sleep and there is no desk or anyone available.
They have a service for kayaks (a little deck) but there is no one in charge of verifying the safety and there were not enough life vests to go out in the lake, very unsafe I thought, we had an accident in the middle of the lake (one of our kayaks turned and we fell in the water) people in other kayaks helped us and the hotel never knew this happened.
Well, the room was small, no light in it, there was a lamp with no light bulb (they should check this simple things before renting), they have teepees you can stay in, but very precarious with no light, not even a night table, the mattress so hard I got a backache...
In summary, the rooms are ok a little small, food not bad but a very limited menu and you are in the obligation of eating this or nothing (no place to buy extra), I think very expensive for what we got. The place has great views and it's a quiet getaway if that is what you want. }
I has so much to do to make it better.

My two-day visit to the Isla Guaca Hotel was a dream come true. It was the closest I have ever been to paradise. The people were friendly, the food was excellent, the accommodations were comfortable and the surroundings were magnificent. Perfect for someone who loves to be surrounded by nature in its most natural state. An added plus is the interesting 45 minute "sightseeing tour" of the reservoir on the free boat ride to and from the hotel.
