seemingly lost in the middle of nowhere this Parador in an excellent place to chill out, recharge yourself and enjoy the great cuisine. The bar and restaurant are really nice places to relax and enjoy quiet times with friends.

My partner and I decided to go to Alarcón and booked the parador; excellent service, beautiful room, underfloor heating and a good quality breakfast all contributed to making it a fabulous stay. Highly recommended for a romantic get away.

We stayed two nights at the master bedroom on the top floor of the cartel's tower. This junior suite surprisingly had no direct view to the outside, but you could walk around it over the battlements, after climbing a flight of stairs and so get the most spectacular view 360 degrees around. You could also look straight down and help...

Just a mile off the main road and what a lovely little town with spectacular views of the castle now a parador. Once again a must if you enjoy good castles. Alarcon is a medieval town spectacularly located on 200-foot high cliffs surrounded by an impossibly narrow gooseneck of the Rio Jucar in central Spain, La Mancha province. The castle...

Already driving up the hill and trough the old little town is an experience. You can feel the history of this place, it's just amazing. The rooms inside are well done and offer all the modern facilities you appreciate.

Visit of one of the five Paradores during this trip from North to South East of Madrid. A nice location, a friendly and helpful reception and for dinner and breakfast, good quality of food, the service and mainly kindness could be improved. As a half pension guest we got a feeling of discrimination which is absolutely very strange in a...

What a find. Drive to Alarcón was pleasant through rolling countryside. The isthmus to the castle filled us with expectation which was fulfilled by the turret room with a breathtaking view over the small dam and river. The restaurant food was exceptional with portion size neither too big nor too small. The view from the battlements is not to be...

We booked our reservation for a superior room months in advance, only to be given a small room that smelled of sewage and faced the courtyard from one floor up. The smell was so bad that we checked into the Villa Alarcon next door - forfeiting the cost of two nights' stay. No other Parador has let us down like...

Excellent stay in all aspects. Historically interesting. Great views. Welcoming service and clean and pleasant room. Food is local based menus. Many tracks for walks around the castle where sheep were herded from north to south Spain and back in the seasons centuries ago.

Spending the night in an 8th Century Moorish Castle was a royal experience. My wife and I felt like guests of Marques de Villena, a former resident of the castle. Our room had a view of the medieval observatory and the dam. Be sure you get the key to the ramparts from reception, walk the old defensive positions on top...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An exceptional witness to the Reconquest, this 8th. castle, perfectly preserved, retains the aura of Arabic influence, with inimitable bedrooms which recreate the most romantic legends. It rises up on a promontory which presides over a fertile bend of the river Júcar. Military motifs from that period dominate the living rooms, impregnated with stone and Castilian wood. ... more   less
