We stayed over a weekend when snow and cold weather had been forecast for several days. We had been caught in snow related traffic jams before we arrived so the weather was challening and cold. However when we arrived we were informed that there was no hot water or heating

Response from HowardsHouse, Owner at Howard's House Hotel

Dear Peter, Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent visit. Unfortunately, your stay coincided with an unusually challenging situation that we were faced with, so I am very sorry that your experience as our guest was marred by this. The gas shortage was due to the failure of our supplier to deliver for three consecutive days - a delivery which they had repeatedly guaranteed to us and failed to provide. This culminated in the crisis you refer to which affected one day, which unfortunately was the day on which you were visiting. I can assure you that behind the scenes, rectifying this situation was of paramount priority - we (the owners) were making calls tirelessly and undergoing some significant frustrations that despite our best efforts the supplier was letting us down to the degree that the guest experience we were able to deliver on that day was affected. I sincerely apologise that you also experienced difficulty with parking and were not adequately assisted by staff - thank you for pointing this out. On a happy note I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your room and dining experience. I do very much hope you will visit us again in spring, summer or autumn when the weather allows full enjoyment of our beautiful location and gardens. Thank you once again for your comments, and apologies for the difficulties that you experienced. We would welcome the opportunity to ensure that any future stays would be wholly relaxing and enjoyable, just as they should be. Best wishes, Charlotte Owner

Lovely setting adjacent to a little stream. Old house in a picturesque village. Near to Tisbury which is worth a visit and also of course Salisbury. Food excellent, service faultless. Room quiet and well furnished. A shower and TV both of which worked.

Wonderful lunch at this lovely hotel. Sensational roast beef and delicious vegetables. The wine list was very good and our Cote du Rhône was perfect. Service was first class and we would definitely recommend!

We were invited to a "special" celebration lunch which was held in The Stables of the main house, converted into a private dining room. Seats 20+ and is lovely, private and comfy. Staff were lovely, grounds of the house charming, and puddings were just lovely. and Teffont

We enjoy staying at this hotel due to its location as useful to us . Hotel has a beautiful setting. The inside of the hotel is very sweet , I find the living room cosy to have a pot of tea or glass of wine followed by dinner in the dining room which again is very enjoyable. I
