Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed there in October '23. As I said in my original review, the hotel and restaurant were nice but I got double charged and despite multiple emails and phone calls, nobody was interested in sorting it out. Seems there's a new team and just received a call from a nice lady who had checked back, found the details, saw the issue and offered an immediate refund. The old lot couldn't even be bothered to do that. So hopefully things are back on track there now. I did like the room I stayed in and the hotel decor seemed nice.

We stayed here for two nights, as recommended by my sister. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Windows open fully, large shower with two types of shower heads. Telephone, iron and board, tv, kettle, hairdryer, desk in room. We booked breakfast too, which was delicious. Bed was very comfortable. You could order a full English or a variation of your choice. Yoghurts, cereals, cheeses, salami, toast and pastries, so something for everyone. We ate one evening in the restaurant and It was much better than I expected. Everyone who ate there enjoyed their meal, I overheard lots of compliments from the other diners. It has a good ambiance in the bar area and the design of decoration adds to this. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean. We thought the staff were outstanding, they do their absolute best make your stay special, smiling, offering to help and making conversation. There is a very relaxing feel about this place from the minute you enter the door.We would definitely recommend this hotel and will return. Thank you to all the staff.

The best business hotel I've stayed in for a long time! All staff were fantastic & nothing was ever too much trouble. Breakfast & all other meals were very good, I have a limited diet & the chef & team could not do enough to help me..Thank you! 🙂 Rooms very warm, plenty of hot water, very clean, large comfy bed. I never used the bar,but I heard lots of positive comments from others staying. To other hotels locally watch out,The Stones Hotel are leading the way forward!

Spacious room (a few tweaks could improve further) although a bit hot. A couple of the staff were quite good but Tegan (reception), Dan (chef) and Ben (bar) were fantastic. Knowledgeable, friendly and really helpful; exactly what hospitality is about. Keep it up guys!

If I could give less than a 1 star I would. Their customer service is horrific. We had a Christmas work do which cost me over £400, and it wasn’t as described at all. It literally was like being at school and lining up for your school dinners. I was told they would cater for my allergy before booking, however on the night - the chefs didn’t even know if anything contained yeast and just stood there and stared at me 🙄 so I ate nothing!! The entertainment was meant to be a live band however it was a very old man (bless him as he did well but it wasn’t what we expected at all as he didn’t look like he was enjoying it in the slightest and was bored) There was meant to be magic mirrors, nope - nothing There was meant to be a glitter artist - nope just a face painter like you get in a school fete The magician only came to our table and did 5 mins tops and he was the only entertainment we actually enjoyed I emailed them with my complaint, was told 3 times someone would get back to me - nope nothing So for £45pp DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Staff were friendly, the breakfast was good and the room was comfortable. The good points were stripped out by the fact that in the seven nights I stayed here I managed to have 3 hot showers. When I did get hot water it didn't last more than a few minutes. I view reliable hot water as a basic requirement for a hotel and the Stones failed to deliver.

I’ve attended a Christmas party here with the company I work for on the Saturday night and I must say how exceptional the service we all received from anyone we came across. Dillon and Luka were really helpful and professional throughout with the food service side of things. The guy behind the bar ( I think his name is Alex ) and his team very really professional serving everyone quickly and with a smile . I would recommend this venue to everyone. Thank you for making our night a success
