Detailed Reviews
I was privileged to attend a Wedding weekend at this delightful hideaway. Set in its own grounds , the Wedding party booked out the entire Manor, creating exclusivity.
The staff there are tasked with many roles, each of which they do in a friendly professional manner. Having booked in. our room was a spacious en-suite, comfortable bed, quality bed linen, and soft white fluffy towels, all freshly laundered. Plenty of wardrobe hanging space for expensive outfits, and space to safely store one’s hat to. Tea and coffee making facilities were comforting after being stationary in traffic , traveling up from Devon.
All guests mingled after acquiring drinks from the bar. Special thanks go to Daniela, for greeting me with the warmest of welcomes whilst pouring my Guinness. Much needed.
Everyone enjoyed the evening BBQ, more of it would have been welcomed, as we fought over the chicken and chips!
Breakfast was served until the very descent hour of ten. Sharon who kindly attended to our room was more than happy to top up the various items of good old fashion Full English . Lovely pleasant smiley lady, always seen on the go everywhere, even at reception when I settled the bill.
The Wedding itself clearly had tons of forward planning and such an eye to detail by the Bride and Groom, to which I’m very proud to be Mother of the Groom. My daughter-in-law and her family became blended into ours in the most relaxed and friendly atmosphere I have ever experienced at a Wedding. One can clearly see why they chose Gray Manor as nothing was too much trouble. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Jason and his gentle natured husky Snow, and new arrival of a baby bunny. Great guy, attentive, immaculately dressed at all times and clearly a good Boss as all his staff appeared happy in their work of many areas, even Daniela volunteering to work on in the bar Friday evening. That speaks volumes
This Manor has character, it’s clean and tidy, ample parking, a playground for young children to safely play. Added touches of spaced seating areas within the grounds, and one guest in a wheelchair participated in everything.
A great place to stay and a fantastic venue for a special occasion especially a Wedding. Would genuinely highly recommend
Thanks to everyone that made it for us, and the chefs that worked so hard behind the scenes that were not seen.

We stayed here for 2 nights this week and were very pleased with everything. The reception guys were very friendly and, as it was my birthday, we were offered complimentary drinks on arrival, a much appreciated gesture.
Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean and looked recently renovated; the only minor problem was a defective door lock so opening and locking it were tricky. A comfortable armchair would be a nice addition to the room, which has ample space for it. The WiFi signal was weak and the connection was often dropped though soon re-established.
We ate at the hotel each evening even though one of the owners had kindly suggested a more upmarket restaurant for my birthday meal. The food was excellent: tasty, very hot and well presented; the portions were generous such that we couldn’t manage desserts. Breakfast was also great with a wide range of cold options, the fruit selection being particularly delicious. I don’t see how anybody could find fault with such a variety of items to choose from. The only addition I would suggest is some breakfast biscuits (Ryvita, Finn Crisp or similar).
All the staff were very pleasant and the service was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would heartily recommend the hotel.

We stayed here for 3 nights, lovely oldie worldly with a modern twist, it is set out as a wedding venue and it is really nice. Breakfast was included in the price, this was continental style, plenty of it as well, also did an evening meal which was very good. The manager is brilliant, very helpful and friendly as are all the staff who work there. Very clean and comfortable rooms, if you need anything just ask and they will do their best. Will definitely stay again

In most of the communal areas it looks as though constantly dressed for a wedding with lots of white chiffon and love hearts everywhere.
The room decor was odd a lot of black lace and a big painting on one wall of some gold and black goddess type figure. Lots of dust on surfaces and toilet wasn't clean. Doors don't reach to the floor, there is a gap underneath which lets noise and light in. Walls are thin and can hear people in the next room.
Someone had left their dog in their room barking for over 3 hours whilst they were away from the hotel. We mentioned it at reception and they told us the guest had been staying awhile and would be back soon.
Didn't have a great nights sleep as there was a big family group visiting and they had a lot of children with them who were running up the corridor outside my room.
Breakfast in what looked like a wedding reception. Tables close together and next to us a table full of children, parents sat together on another table and the kids making a lot of noise and running around so not relaxing, wouldn't mind if the whole thing was cheaper.
Waitress at breakfast bit inexperienced. We arrived for breakfast a couple of minutes apart and the server asked what we wanted when our last guest hadn't sat down. We asked for a couple more minutes and she said "You've been here longest tell me what you want" I don't think she meant to be rude but made us feel rushed. Poached eggs had been made in a microwave.
Don't feel that it's worth the money we paid

+1
This is NOT 4 star. This is utter crap.
Avoid and save your money!
Ties loose in bathroom..
Air vent under sink just falls of when closing bathroom door.
Glass shower screen clashes with vanity unit, this is very dangerous.
Only one socket in whole of room.cant plug phone charger in as the socket is right above work top.
Side tables are badly hand made from MDF.
No mattress protectors on the bed.
Total shambles.

We had our wedding reception here and from the initial viewing, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were experienced in planning/running a wedding whilst still receptive to our ideas, allowing us full flexibility in personalising our day.
The venue was clean and fit for purpose, some areas required a small amount of maintenance/DIY but not enough to impact on the day. The food was lovely (we had canapes, a 3 course wedding breakfast, evening food and breakfast the next morning). All our friends and family loved celebrating at Gray Manor and many of them stayed at the hotel for several nights.
We are incredibly grateful to all the staff at Gray Manor for helping to make our wedding so special, all of the staff were so friendly and attentive but Jason and Lex really helped us throughout the whole process - thank you!

I visited last weekend for my brother's wedding and was impressed by the service. Mine and my daughters room was clean and bright. The staff were attentive, helpful and really lovely, making sure each guest was warmly welcomed. The food was tasty and the venue itself was beautiful, modern and imacculate! It even had a playground for the kids outside which I thought was a nice touch and the gardens were well maintained which was the perfect backdrop for my brothers professional photos. I would definitely recommend Gray Manor.

I don't write a lot of reviews but Jason in p[articular at the hotel really went above and beyond to provide a brilliant service! This was from helping with my checking in queries on the call before I arrived, to ensure I had dinner even though I was working late beyond the hotel cut off time to order - then to ensuring a better quality room was offered due to a maintenance issue. Great ambassador to the hotel. Very well done and I look forward to the return in the near future.

We stayed at the Gray Manor Hotel as we were attending a friend's wedding nearby. After a disastrous journey the staff were so incredibly welcoming and even offered to cook our meal even though we were so late the restaurant service had finished. We asked for sandwiches and they came with a bowl of chips and the owners wouldn't let us pay as we had had such a traumatic journey.
My room, with it's quirky decor, was lovely and very much to my taste. It was a good size with a kettle (and generous supplies of tea and coffee), hair dryer, good TV and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The included breakfast was good. On the first morning it was cooked to order and on the second, due to an influx of more guests it was a buffet. It was of a high standard.
The owners and staff, without exception, were efficient and courteous and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. I loved this hotel and will happily stay there again.

In August we were lucky enough to visit Gray Manor for a ( social distanced ) small family gathering. In spite of the restrictions due to Covid i , the team there pulled out all the stops. The food was great, the service friendly, and the rooms all were quirky, individual and full of character. The hotel is set in the most beautiful grounds, so tranquil, and the owners have done a great job decorating the indoor and outdoor spaces. I would highly recommend Gray Manor, I can’t wait to book again. It’s a family run hotel, and you can really feel that from the moment you walk in, the staff couldn’t be more accommodating and happy to help. Loved it!
