You need to drive gravel road, ok, but it’s all worth as you end up in complete tranquility. The lodge as well separated small units providing everything to cook your meal or breakfast, which you then enjoy sitting on your veranda, looking into the valley...More

We arrived at a cold very wet day, with the road flooded. But once we reached Catlins Mohua Park, The welcome was warm, the food delicious and the tour spectaculiar. We enjoyed every minute of our three nights stay.

We loved staying in one of the four cottages. The view was amazing. Hills with sheep everywhere. And all the birds singing for us. So beautiful. The cottage was perfect. Nice bed and everything we needed was available. We also did a tour. Traveling around...More

Mohua Park cottages are private, spacious, environmentally friendly hotel standard plus studio units with wide views over forest and farm land of the upper Catlins River Valley. The property itself is a More 14 hectare forest reserve and garden with many short walking tracks, lookouts and picnic seats and tables for guests to explore and enjoy the varied native and planted forest, valley views and abundant birds. Mohua Park is within walking distance of the Catlins River Track for longer walks and birdwatching - this is one of the best locations to see the rare mohua (yellowhead). Also good opportunities for cycling and trout fishing. Mohua Park is a 30 minute drive to the attractions of Nugget Point (rugged coast and yellow eyed penguins), Surat Bay (Hooker's sea lions), Purakaunui Falls, Papatowai beach and forest, Tautuku Bay, 1 hour to to the Cathedral Caves and Curio Bay petrified forest.
