As others before us Chaillac B&B was chosen as a useful stop over travelling to/fro the ferry ports but it is so much more. Situated between the agricultural countryside of the northern plains and the hills of the Limousin, the village is a wonderful illustration of rural France – its square and shops closely gathered around its church and chateau....

Chaillac is a little off the tourist track but is a charming village. It could almost be a movie set. Matthew is a great host and a great cook. His dinner was just what we needed after a long drive from the Dordogne. The value and the welcome made this one of high points of three weeks in France.

We loved meeting Mathew and Bob, the border collie. Our dog Sidney got on really well with Bob and even resisted the temptation to steal his ball. We had the upstairs two rooms which were lovely with a huge bathroom but the best part was the meal, eaten in the courtyard which Mathew prepared for us. Absolutely lovely 3 course...

Stayed in late August on the way down to Bordeaux from Paris. Matt met us as we arrived and assisted with the parking and check-in with a very warm welcome. We had the red room which was very spacious. The highlight of the stay was Matt's home cooked meal in the evening... 3 superb courses tailored to cater for my...

Stayed in late August on the way back from Dordogne with kids 7 and 9. Easy parking options/ warm welcome. Although the house is furnished with treasures collected from overseas, it has the atmosphere of a home from home. We had the top floor for the family with two good sized, comfortable double rooms and a modern shower room. Mein...

We arrived on a hot day in august in Chaillac, previously arranged a nice dinner with our host Matthew, kindly asking for our preferences. Please read his return mail after your booking !! Rooms are large and decorated, pictures from Mathews world travels all over the house. We spent a leisurely evening with a decent meal and fine wine. Breakfast...

We were a family of four and Matt gave us the whole of the top floor which had two double bedrooms, a landing and a bathroom. The whole property was very well finished and furnished with comfortable, clean beds and every room was tastefully decorated. We felt like we had our own space but Matt was on hand if we...

We were pleasantly surprised by the charm of the place (both the B&B and the village), the owners (Matthew and Bob, his dog) and the excellent quality of the food. Do not hesitate: Chaillac B&B is absolutely worth going to.

Chaillac was a convenient distance to break our journey from the UK to the South of France and I would thoroughly recommend this guest house. Matthew was very welcoming and accommodating of our uncertain arrival time - we had booked an evening meal which was good. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished from Matthew's travels. Chaillac itself is an...
