This was my third stay at this Tibetan run gem of a hotel, the first time since Covid. McLeod was the emptiest I've ever witnessed it with most of the tourists having moved up to Bagsu & Dharamkot so it was quiet. When the Dalai Lema returns to town in September, I hope McLeod will be revived. In the years that I was away, Things have changed but was hasn't changed is Sonam who's a remarkable host - warm, kind, caring, honest & trustworthy, well informed & helpful and just lovely. The rooms are Comfortable & styled with Tibetan art. The views are spectacular, The Caffe is Pure Veg. (big plus if you're Kosher), The food is delicious & prices are fair. Sonam kindly also arranged pick up & drop off for us from the airport & railway station with a safe driver & a good rate. I can't recommend this place more & Look forward to returning. …

It was my first visit in India and all by myself from May 18th until 9th of June 2023. Here I found the best place to start from. I felt like home from the very first minute I arrived. That's what I was looking for after a long journey with one crazy night in Delhi and that's what I felt the moment I stepped out of the car, which Sonam had arranged for me. It felt so good, already when I was picked up at the airport in Dharamsala. No more worries from that moment on for the next three weeks. This hotel is run by a Tibetan Family, Sonam and her husband are very kind, caring and helpful no matter what I wanted to know, to do or to get. They have so much knowledge about this place, they are well connected and made everything really easy for me. Everything felt so free and flexible without any stress. I can't remember when I felt this way the last time. I would never have thought that this would be the case in India. But so it was. They also have so much experience and knowledge about the tradition and culture of Tibet, Buddhism and Dharamsala. I learned so much while I was there. Most of all I learned how nice and kind Tibetan people are. There is something within themselves, which is hardly to describe. It must be the way they grew up, the way they look at life and people in general that makes their kindness so special. I am so greatful that I had the chance to have been able to experience this atmosphere. Thank you! I could have described the beautiful rooms, the delicious food, the view to the mountains, but this has all been written here so well and many times. For me this hotel, located short after the entrance of McLeod Ganj is the perfect entry into a Tibetan perspective of peaceful life in exile amongst many other cultures. Here you can feel save, you can have joy, meet people from all over the world, you can be for yourself, without having to feel alone, you can enjoy the comfort of your cosy room, you are looked after without loosing your privacy. In fact it is all up to you, they see you and notice what you need and want. I highly recommend this place. I would come back here, any time. In fact I miss Sonam, her husband and the crew. We stayed at 8 Auspicious for several days and it was very comfortable. It felt like home away from home. The room was clean and spacious with the view of mountains. The menu has variety of food items and it tasted well. The location is near to the main square and easily accessible to the attractions. The owner is warm and friendly.

I just returned home from a wonderful 5 week journey around India, including a two week stay in Dharamsala ( McCloud Gange). As usual for me, I booked a room at the BEST hotel in town, the 8 Auspicious Himview! I've stayed here multiple times and NEVER been disappointed! The rooms are so tastefully decorated and comfortable, beautiful touches of Tibetan culture like knotted rugs, paintings, and furnishings a constant reminder that you are in " Little Tibet." Everything is clean and well managed by Sonamla, whose calm manner, ready smile, and organizational skills always amaze me! She is also an excellent cook, and the breakfast in the small on site restaurant can't be beat! She can make Tibetan, Western, or Indian breakfast, and I love them all! The sensational views over the mountains from the balconies of the rooms are compelling---- a place of peace and relaxation in the heart of busy little Dharamsala. The location is convenient to shops, restaurants, and HH Dalai Lama's main temple. It is also only a short taxi or hike from the Government area and the newly opened Tibet museum. We stayed here in December 2022 and also in November 2022. Both times were fantastic. The bedrooms are adorably decorated and kept clean. The balcony view of the mountains is really beautiful. Every morning we would get a delicious breakfast and fresh juice. In the evenings sometimes we would buy her homemade cakes and breads. The location is great to easily walk to the Dalai Lama temple, Tibetan Tea House, Hope Cafe, and many more places. This is a quiet and quaint place to stay. We’ve been here twice and will stay again if we ever visit Mcleod Ganj in the future.

The most welcoming hotel I have ever experienced. The food was delicious, and the room had an elegant simplicity. The location was also very good but no doubt that the most precious aspect of the hotel is the kindness and love which SoNam and her husband serves.
