Detailed Reviews
We’re currently staying at the Clio Hotel (24/7/21) and I wanted to write a review as soon as possible to encourage you to book and stay here. Here’s our experience so far:
Arrived 10pm after about a 50 min airport transfer. The owner Fotis greeted us and despite it being late, organised food for the family. He talked through the hotel, how the COVID safety measures worked and checked we understood everything (all over a cold beer too) We asked for the additional air con in our room at a very reasonable €45 per week. Breakfast is usually a buffet but as Fotis and his wife Vicky explained, they now prepare your breakfast to order. We’ve had yoghurt, fruit, omelet, scrambled egg, fresh bread and honey, fresh juice and coffee too and there is so much more to choose including full ‘English’. The pool is lovely, very clean with high quality wooden loungers and cushions. There is a very reasonably priced bar and restaurant too. The rooms are a good quality 3 star hotel, our room had a powerful ‘rainwater’ shower as well as a safe, wardrobe, fridge and small kitchen.
Location wise the hotel is across the salt lake from the beach and town (both about 15 mins walk) Theres a good supermarket 5 mins walk away and a couple of local restaurants but Alykes itself has loads of bars and restaurants in the town and by the beach. Costs are low compared to other holiday destinations I’ve been to, a large draft beer being about €4 on average and a good quality meal between €9-€12.
I would highly recommend this hotel, the owners are very good people, and the pool/bar area is much better than the 3 stars the hotel is rated at.
Travel into Zante was easy and the hotel have arranged for the required PCR tests to happen 72 hours before flying. (€30 locally).
The sad reality of the British media frightening the life out of tourists mean that this hotel is operating well under capacity. I know this family owned business are trying everything possible to get it right.

We visited our favourite hotel again in very uncertain times, but as soon as we had arrived we knew we would be in safe hands, Fotis and the Clio team had the safety of guests and staff as a top priority. These included sanitised keys, and air conditioning controllers as well as room cleaning options to suit your needs. There was plenty of hand saniitiser stations around the hotel and staff were wearing face masks.
The usual buffet breakfast was served one family at a time, the breakfast choice was as good as ever and you could go up as often you wanted. The loungers were regularly sanitised and adequately spaced. We were glad we managed to have a relaxing week in the sun which was only possible because of the wonderful Clio family.
Even though it was a slightly different experience it was still a relaxing holiday and we were really we decided to go this year.
Thank you Fotis, Vicky, Silver and the team, hopefully we will see you again before too long.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We have just returned from our stay at the fabulous Clio. We are all well aware of the new temporary "normal" but please, do not be worried about spending your holiday with Fotis and family. I am writing this review to ensure people that it is still an amazing place to be with a friendly service that is second to none.
Upon arrival, we had the usual warm welcome with the elbow bump instead of a hug. We were told of the new protocols in place such as:
Sanitizer stations at the bar, and lifts.
Socially distanced sunbeds (2 per parasol) - we were asked not to move these which was fine by us. You can still talk to the next two beds without shouting. It's no big deal.
Breakfast is the usual selection, but is served to you as you choose it rather than you helping yourself.
There is less housekeeping (every third day) but if you require your sheets changing, you are welcome to request clean ones. Same with towels.
You must shower before going in the pool. I personally think this should be a thing anyway. It's common courtesy really, is it not?
There are social distancing stickers on the floor in the bar area to follow and a few reminder signs.
Masks are not required anywhere in the hotel grounds for guests but the Clio Family wear visors or masks behind the bar and also gloves and aprons when serving food.
Our stay was amazing as always. We enjoyed every second of it and felt safe and very well looked after as always.
I cannot put into words how much I recommend Clio, even in this time of weirdness. Every member of staff has been attentive and caring. They all want us to have a lovely time and are so so apologetic about the rules in place. They need not be. The only thing I have disliked about our protocol stay is not being able to hug Fotis goodbye.
So, if you were thinking of going, but are worried about these times - don't be! You are safe there. It is not over the top suffocation and I promise you, you will have a great holiday!
Our friends need us! Just go!
Thank you for another brilliant stay Clio.... Keep it up and I will see you next year for my hug!

Having been going to the Clio for several years and knowing their standards, I had no reservations about going this year. Fotis and his family have made an excellent job of making sure everyone is safe with meticulous hygiene. Breakfast is a little different with being served but very well organised. We had a very relaxing week here and entertained by Kayleigh at night at the bar who is a great addition to the team. Well done to all at the Clio for pulling it out of the bag in these difficult times. Can’t wait to return next year. M,A & R x

Just returned from another great stay at the Clio. Different this year due to covid but the protocols that they have put in place make you very safe and assured. Every area is wiped down straight after use and the sunbeds sanitised daily with plenty of sanitiser stations around the hotel and social distancing markers around the bar area.
The only downside to this is that you can't have the normal contact with the family that we are used to but they do everything they can to make your stay the best it can be.
Food excellent as always and the new bar girl Kayleigh is very pleasant and good fun.
Hope to return in 2022 when we can hopefully have the full Clio experience again.

We we slightly anxious about going away given the Covid situation but from the moment we arrived to be greeted by Vicky we were made to feel safe and welcome at the Clio. As others have already commented the hotel really have gone out of their way to strictly follow guidelines, we actually felt safer there than we do back here in England.
The hotel is in a quiet area of the resort with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. It’s a 5 minute walk to the nearest supermarket which had everything you will need at reasonable prices and a 10-15 walk to the main town and beach.
The rooms, pool area and restaurant are spotlessly clean. We stayed half board and the evening meals were something else. Lovely home cooked Greek dishes. We were certainly never hungry afterwards!
Fotis, Vicky and the rest of the Clio team really do their best to make you feel part of the family. They’re always available to have a chat and checking everything is ok. They genuinely want their guests to have the best holiday at their hotel.
My son didn’t want to com home and said it was the best holiday he’d ever had. The amount of returning guests speaks volumes and we would throughly recommend.

Hubby and I are repeat visitors to Alykes our usual hotel was closed but as Zante holds a special place in our hearts and it was a big anniversary. 10yrs (we were married on the island) we decided when the small travel window opened we would head out for a much needed break.
We arrived at zante airport and were met and transfered by a swish minibus inclufed in the cost of our holiday. We could tell you about previous long winded coach stops in the past but that's the past and no longer a credibly option for us anymore.
On arrival we were greeted safely and our friendly hosts offered us a drink and we were given a plate of fresh fruit to enjoy.
Our room number 14 was perfect and on the table was a hamper of fruit an anniversary card and a bottle of wine.. A really lovely and totally unexpected surprise.
The room was big with aircon and a large balcony overlooking the village of Katastari. Simply a view that always pleases.
Fotis and his family went above and beyond in there tireless efforts to make us feel safe and comfortable.
Breakfast this Yr is not self-service but served in a pleasant un rushed way maintaining social distancing whilst surprising us with what wason offer.
Always eggs. Scrambled. Omelette (squares) or baked eggs. Often bacon. Little sausages.Croissants toast. Ham cheese yogurt apricots. Fresh fruit melon banana kiwi nectarines. Oh and baked beans.Did I mention cake and apple pie?
We ate at lunch time on a number of occasions and the food was delicious and not expensive.
Milkshakes were good.
The pool was a great clean and we were issued with covers for our sun loungers. I liked the pool as it was very shallow at one end so it made it easier to get in and out off.
The whole hotel is beautifully kept with lots of lovely planting.
I appreciated the attention to detail and would totally recommend it to others. The lift!!! Yes they have a lift makes it assessable for guests with mobility issues my husband included who pulled his back whilst away.We appreciated it for the moving of our suitcases.
Thankyou for a truly relaxing holiday. You hard work and dedication is evident

We have just returned from yet another fantastic stay at the relaxing Clio Hotel.
This year was a little different from the previous year due to the Covid 19 pandemic, but the team at the Clio once again were very welcoming and pulled all stops out to make sure you had a happy and healthy stay.
We felt very safe at the Clio, much safer than we do in the UK. Fotis and his family have followed a very stringent Greek governments guidelines to ensure everyone is safe there. Hand sanitiser machines around the hotel, towels and bedding are delivered in sanitised polythene bags, as is the remote for the t.v , key for the room and air conditioner remote. All the sun loungers are placed well apart and are sanitised after use.
We had a fantastic time there and wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.
So thank you once again the Clio family for your great hospitality which is second to none. You made us feel very welcome, and most of all in these very uncertain times, safe !!!!!!!
We no doubt will be seeing you again to stay in your very clean, relaxing “Gem of a Place”

First of all, the owners and staff without exception are excellent, professional and as friendly as you want them to be. Lovely welcome including a drink and a fruit plate.
Our room, 12, was spacious, spotless, quiet with a nice view and a very nice bathroom with a good shower and no problems with hot water.
Covid 19 is taken very seriously at the Clio and EVERY safety measure is put in place to make sure everyone remains safe (I found this with most places on Zante including all the beaches)
Drinks and cocktails are served by the lovely Kaylee at very reasonable prices, my Husband is now a cocktail convert due to the nightly "luck-dip"( she was too nice to tell him the actual names!).
I only do fruit for breakfast but Himself and everyone else seemed to be more than happy with the selection and quality.
We unfortunately only ate at the Hotel once, we had the evening special which was excellent and extremely good value for money ( some people ate every night and were more than happy.
We booked privately, which includes taxi transfer, Air conditioning and safe. we Chose B&B but they also do Room only and DB&B. This worked out to be better value than a Package deal.
All in all we were more than happy about everything and everyone and would not hesitate to revisit or recommend this lovely little find.

We took our adult daughter ( who has a learning disability) with us and the ‘ bed’ provided was an armchair with a pull out for her. Not really suitable as she’s a big girl but would be ok for a child? In retrospect I should have tried to book a single room. However the owner ( Fotus) is very obliging. Email the hotel and he will sort it for you.
I agree with the other poster. The hotel is lovely.
We did use the air con but we paid it with the security safe at the same time. For both it was approx 50 euros. We found the owner to be quite fair and doesn’t overcharge.
Hope this helps.

Nottingham, United Kingdom38 contributions20 helpful votesHi, we are looking at booking the Clio for the summer of 2022. There will be 2 adults and a child (7 years) and I wondered if the third bed was a full size single in the studios. Thank you!
Thank you for your message, and for your interest in staying with us.
The third bed at the studios is a new type of armchair that can be made into a bed that is a comfortable and large size for adults and children.
