We stopped over for a night on a long drive from Newcastle upon tyne to Lampeter, and enjoyed a really lovely, genuine, friendly welcome from Dominic. What a pleasure to stay somewhere so totally un-coporate, that's kept its unique character, run by someone who seems to take real pleasure in his work and in welcoming people. The food was a...

We have stayed at the Black Lion Hotel in Wales a number of times over the last few years and have always found it exceptional in every way. The food is wonderfully cooked and very reasonably priced. As per 'Chill Out' the hosts were kind and attentive even when busy and we have already booked again to visit this year...

We have visited the Black Lion Hotel on numerous occasions for evening meal and have never come away from there disappointed, but last Saturday night we were. The place was full, and as far as we could see only one table for two and one table of four had ordered their food. We ordered our food, and waited 35 minutes...

So sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at the Black. We had no idea that there were any problems with the food that evening. It was very busy however and there were more people seated in the lounge area. I do wish you had let someone know that you had a problem with anything on the night and we...

“If you need plenty of space or are staying for more than one/two nights ask for a room in the converted stable block. They are much larger than the above-pub rooms and have a really useful porch area for storing boots, coats, etc.”

“Room 7 is the family room. It has steep steps to access it and no facilities for anyone travelling with babies or young children. There are small windows letting in little light. The balcony area is scruffy and overlooks the owner's washing!”
