Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked a table to eat in the restaurant after viewing the menu online. We turned up we were ushered straight to our table,no chance to look at what was on offer to drink at the bar. Conservatory area was very cold,is in need of an update and a deep clean. The menu was very limited and wasn't what was shown on the online choices. The chef/owner was about but didn't visit diners as he's been known to. I think he's lost interest in cooking and the running of this place. Food was mediocre. This place is in a prime location with Haven holiday park opposite. What a shame it isn't making the most of the opportunity.

Room Tip: Avoid this place. It's not what is shown online. Very very disappointing.

The food was amazing! Each dish was prepared with equal amounts of love and pride, and brought to the table by the chef personally, who explained how each dish was prepared, and the ingredients that were used. The food was all home made, from the chips to the tiramisu. My husband and I returned for our meal each night of our stay in New Quay because we were so impressed with the quality and quantity of food served. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend a visit to this establishment, especially if you're a lover of good quality food. Thank you for making our holiday an amazing experience.

Fab food, excellent service and really friendly staff. Items we were short of were brought to us and not tight on portions. Really good for money and lovely atmosphere. We were served quickly and were looked after very well.

Booked for sunday lunch having not been here before. It was very busy but service was very good with very polite staff. The carvery was excellent, every mouthful was very tasty, so well cooked, could not fault it. No hesitation in recommending.

10 of us plus a baby were booked for 1.15. By 2.25 we were being asked to vacate our table. We asked waitress to split bill she said she was too busy and rolled her eyes. Bar man pushed past and swore under his breath as he wanted to move seats around. We were only wanting to pay our bill which we were being rushed to do anyway. Lady that actually took payment was lovely though. If you want a relaxed Sunday lunch it’s not the place to go. Dessert choices were very dated and weren’t value for money - arctic roll, pre made sponge, trifle and tart. Won’t be going again sadly. Great location and lovely setting and Sunday lunch was really good but they tried to cram too many people in with very little time. We had been looking forward to a family get together but the rushing and staff attitude need attention and spoiled it for us

Response from Gaynor Howen, Owner at Cambrian Inn & Restaurant
Responded 1 Sept 2022
We do 3 sittings on a Sunday 12.00, 1.15 and 2.30 , you opted for 1.15. The table was rebooked for 2. 30. I left it till the very last minute before I asked you very politely, if we coud have your table, you had well finished your meal by then. You could have sat at another table and carried on your conversation, just not that one. ln the two years that the barman has worked for us we have never heard him swear in or out of work. As for our sweets they are priced at £3.50 what do you expect . The only other thing I will say is that we have done a carvery for the last fourteen years I estimate 35 to 40,000 this is the first complaint.

We were amazed at the impeccable decor and cleanliness, as we stepped through the door. The room was even more impressive; two comfortable chairs to relax in, whilst looking across the Ceredigion Bay (Cardigan Bay). There was more to follow ... we arranged a meal for the family, our daughter's family were staying close by. What a treat! Excellent, varied cuisine from a wide menu of choice dishes, cooked with equally varied care and skill, served with courtesy and love. But, and it's a big but! Breakfast ... breakfast I have never before relished so much; bacon with a taste to die for, with equally delicious fayre - fresh eggs, mushrooms, breads as you may fancy as well as cereal, tea and coffe all ready to please the wish and whim of one and all clients. You may make the mistake that my review is a little O.T.T ... not so. The proprietors, Stephen and Gaynor, along with their staff, put themselves out to achieve perfection and NEVER fail. Thank you so much - Maurice & Liz

What a great find! Turned up last minute and the owner managed to organise rooms with sea views. Rooms were very clean and comfortable beds. Food was lovely and very friendly staff. Lots of information on where to go and what to see. Highly recommend. Would definitely come back!
