Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for two nights last weekend while visiting friends (who told us that they'd heard excellent things about it). They were correct. Excellent rooms, breakfasts and friendly service. Add to this that it seems to be the hotel in town with parking - I'd highly recommend it.

We had a nice stay in this hotel/pub restaurant. Gorgeous setting, the staff were hospitable and really friendly. Straightforward place, not pretentious. Really clean rooms, comfortable beds, the building itself has lots of history. Homely place, was made to feel at home, We ate in the restaurant in the evening the food was satisfactory & did the job. Breakfast was lovely, would return if in this gorgeous area again.

Had a fab stay,Mike and Paula looked after us. Room's gorgeous, bed comfortable and a lovely view of the sea, topped off with a breakfast that kept us going for the rest of the day. An added bonus was the complimentary sausage and chips that arrived in the bar at half time during the rugby to add to an already memorable time with the locals.

Arriving in New Quey, on a damp, blustery and cold afternoon. We were greated at the Black Lion with a warm friendly welcome. The bar was obviously the first port of call with the Wood burner roaring, the Cwtch was enjoyed, with far reaching views over the bay. Our room, was more than comfortable, very clean and the ensuite spacious, with large shower. The Listed hotel has undergone a major sympathetic refurbishment, giving a generous nodd to the quality of tradesmen. Over our 3 night stay we enjoyed the culinary delights of the kitchen. The breakfasts menu had a choice to please all, and served freshly prepared. Equally our Evening meals where cooked to perfection, chosen from a menu with variety. All of the staff at the Black Lion were polite and welcoming, so much so, we are already looking forward to our return. So glad we found the Black Lion. 10/10.

Great stay. Rooms are cosy and clean, breakfast was delightful and the Sunday lunch there was really nice too. Decent beer in the bar, friendly staff, couldn’t fault it. Would 100% stay here again. The staff went out of their way to look after us, even though they had a million and one things to do. Fantastic
