This hotel is an absolute dream! It's located in such a pristine town/village. You can walk to the gondola or rental bikes, hiking, whatever your desire for outdoor activity is. They have lots of glass in the lobby and adjoining bar to enjoy the flower boxes in the window and the gorgeous green pastures and hills across the street. The property is kept sparkling clean as well as the rooms. The rooms are very quiet and we booked the junior suite with a balcony so we were fortunate enough to enjoy the cows bells across the street. The dining room where breakfast is served is very relaxing with visually pleasing meals. The dinners were very good and they did not bad at all in accommodating gluten free. The breakfast is one of the best we've had. The variety of meats and bakery items should have something for everyone. The staff is very helpful and a pleasure to interact with. Would like to have had at least one English channel on the TV, but they pretty much just have Italian and German stations. Definitely not a deal breaker! We really hope to return for another visit and would highly recommend this property!…
The rooms are nice with beautiful open view of the Schlern. We are senior citizens, so maybe we are sensitive perhaps, but the mattress was not comfortable. Having the ski gondola going right in front of your balcony somehow disturbed the peaceful atmosphere. With half-pension, we were having two meals at the hotel a day, and canned fruit for breakfast fruit salad, no fresh fruit juice for instance, was really quite disappointing. Dinners were not consistent either. We love this area very much and had stayed at quite a few three star hotels in the area and Val Gardena, and in comparison the food at Schmung was really not on a par with others. The wellness center had only the sauna and no exercise machine. Overall, we regretted we chose this hotel in the end.
Four of us stayed here for three nights to hike in the area. The hotel and rooms are quite beautiful with amazing views. The food was gourmet and delicious. The kitchen kindly accommodated the vegetarians with healthy and interesting dishes. Maria in particular was welcoming and helpful. Would love to stay here again!
My sister and I felt so blessed to get to get to stay at Hotel Schmung in Alpert’s di Siusi!! We were greeted quite warmly by Helga whom I had spoken to prior to arrival. After explanation we were taken to our room which was just heavenly! We felt like queens! The room was so clean and beautifully decorated and had a balcony with a spectacular view of Mt. Schlern. We could hear and see the cows and their bells in the pasture just across the street. The cable car glide right in front of you. We enjoyed a fabulous cappuccino in the morning out there! We made it there in time for dinner which was just amazing!! We loved having a taste of German and Italian food. They assign you a table where you will sit for breakfast and dinners while there. First a salad bar, then an appetizer pasta, then a soup, a full meal and a dessert! All delicious! The day we left we asked for a packed lunch and it was perfect too- mini sandwiches and apples. The second night, because the hotel was full we had to move to another room. We knew this ahead of time and they were so kind to move our bags for us so we could get out and enjoy hiking in the beautiful weather! The second room was an attic room. Clean with comfortable bed. Just know if you stay in this room it is cramped and you need to just go right to sleep - perfect for us since we hiked 8 miles. The roof slants too - hard for even 5’2 me 😜 A shout out for Maria who helped us with planning our home and also found some info for us that we requested! It was really a treat to stay with this family! Fun to be part of their history and culture which they seem eager to share. (Loved the photos on the website and in the halls!) Grazie Ladies for a delight visit! …
Some people mentioned not having English speaking at the front desk, but we found excellent help in English. The breakfasts were superb and I loved the view of the Alpe. This is a great choice if your driving but want access to hiking as it's in the park.
