Lovely cosy traditional pub in typical South Devon village. Pleasant welcome. Excellent well filled sandwiches. Our friends particularly enjoyed the crab sandwiches. Good beer. Parking needs care. Recommended.

An olde worlde pub with great atmosphere, food and drinks with friendly and helpful staff. We learned that it was to be refurbished in Autumn 2016 so I hope they don't destroy all the good things that might lose the atmosphere. I hope someone posts a review after the refurb is complete. There is a car park but not that...

Arrived late for a one night stay as was swimming round Burgh Island. Warm welcome from Craig who has just taken over the pub. Room comfortable and very good breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs set us up for the day. Defiantly recommend

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights and were very pleased with what we found. The bedroom and en-suite were clean and adequate and the evening meals were very good and very welcome after walking part of the South West Coast Path, we chose plaice fillets one evening and it was a pleasure to eat REAL...

We just turned up about 6.30 not having booked , but were quickly found a table for two by a very personable young lady . She advised us that there were no specials that day as chef had been busy with a funeral . We had noticed that the pub had been closed till 6 for this purpose. This didn't...

The new owner, Craig, could not have been more accommodating to our group of six female hikers. We arrived tired and bordering on emotional after a day walking the South West Coastal Path from Wembury to Bigbury. We were personally shown to our pleasant rooms and welcomed to our dinner table for a wonderful freshly caught fish platter. After a...

I first came across this lovely pub a few years ago whilst walking the South West Coastal footpath. At the time it provided me with convenient over night B&B accommodation. Whilst taking a drive with my wife through the country lanes of South Devon in June this year we decided we would like a pub lunch and saw the signs...

The village has heaved a collective sigh of relief - we've got our pub back! After many months of spiralling decline, uncertain opening hours, random beer deliveries and food service which was hit-or-miss, the pub is now under new management, and what a breath of fresh air! The new landlord Craig, his wife Leah and a dedicated band of volunteer...

The pub has recently changed hands and early signs from the new owners are positive. My husband and I had Sunday lunch there and chose traditional fish and chips from a short menu plus there were a few extras on a daily specials board. There was no traditional Sunday roast, however, our fish had a very light batter with no...
