This is a wonderful old wooden chalet in a hidden valley, standing beneath a mountain peak and beside a river. The rooms are comfortable, the food excellent, and the service cordial. We've cosied under its winter snow blanket and cooled under its pines during summer heat, and each time it's been just what we needed. Try the smoked meats, potatoes with cheese, fresh veg, homebaked pastries and spa water so pure and fresh it tastes sweet. If you're not happy here you won't be in any hotel. But then please keep this real find to yourself.

If you’re in Switzerland pre Alps and love tracking or biking you must go and stay two or three days in this lovely hotel.

The rooms are very nice, the food served in the restaurant is very tasty. Don’t miss the local merengues as a dessert.

The staff is really kindly and they try to make you feel at home all the time.

Loved the place and the surrounding. The single problem is the difficulty to arrive there by train + bus taken at Scholmatz.

I do recommend it!

The size of the meringue as well as its quality is top of the world. Located in the middle of the beautifully swiss mountains this is a special place for a purification retreat accompanied with great food and a special, friendly and high quality hotel.
A must see. Higly recommended.

Through an 8-day trip to Switzerland, we stayed at 6 different hotels including the Hotel Kemmeriboden-Bad. Among these, the KBB was a stand-out and quite memorable. This was a true “find”, and if you are a hiker/nature lover, this should certainly be considered as a major stop on a trip through the Bern/Schangnau area.

What is instantly noticeable upon arrival – lots of hikers in bright colored, super-technical hiking gear. Second, fewer foreigners. This is where the Swiss go to vacay!

Note the restaurant menu. It’s in German. Period. Not French, Italian, Romanche. Let alone English. Yet, there was a waitress (I am kicking myself for not remembering her name) who was super helpful. She went over the menu with me and explained it to me in English for about 20 minutes prior to our dinner reservation. Another waitress (again I cannot remember her name) provided a supplemental explanation during dinner itself. I ended up ordering the “Berner Teller” which was a heap of different meats and vegetables. Very filling, very large portion… My son had the pork, which looked delicious. The place appears to be known for their meringues, all of their desserts are really scrumptious. Haven’t used that word in a while.

The rooms are quite spacious and we appreciated the second bed in our room. There were extra USB ports available which allowed us to recharge phones without having to use AC adapters – very nice. The bedding was also quiet good. The material was quite unique and made for some great rest. A very minor minus was the fact that they had no real toiletries - just a dispenser providing all-purpose liquid for shampoo and shower. Not a fan of this.

This hotel is a haven, a resting place and magnet for hikers. We are no means pros and we were able to enjoy a nice walk along the river as well as a morning hike very close by.

It would be fair to say that we got a glimpse of what “Summer in Switzerland” is by staying here. It’s nature, it's about soaring mountains and crisp weather. It’s hearty and good, simple food. It's a path strewn with metal sculptures made by people who love to collect and do not throw things away. And life is enriched when you have good meringue and locally made ice cream.

Dear Mohammedyu, We thank you for your heart-warming review in detail. We are really glad to hear, that you enjoyed your stay at Kemmeriboden-Bad and our nearby region. We do have restaurant menus in German and French. We are sorry for not offering the French one. We hope that our waitress gave you a useful explanation in English. As you had our “Berner Teller”, you had a real Swiss-experience. The meal with the different meats and vegetables has been famous in our region for a long time. Thanks a lot for giving us such a helpful, nice and friendly feedback. We are really sorry that you didn’t find the expected toiletries. We do have a Kemmeriboden-beauty-line with e.g. different baths or a bodymilk with ingredients of our region. We wish you all the best an hope to see you soon again! Your family Invernizzi and the Kemmeriboden-Team

It is a very beautiful area with an old wooden bridge (well rebuild) and several very old farming houses kept in almost original condition. In the Restaurant, you can choose from a variety of very traditional fine dishes and for dessert try the traditional "Merängge" with homemade wiped cream and icecream. It is very relaxing, peaceful and a lot of fresch air. You can also go for a walk in the area for 30 min up to several hours.

Stayed in the “Stroh Deluxe”, this means you stay in an old barn! Top experience strongly recommended! You will enjoy a lot of space in this room with a big bathtub in the middle of the room but don’t afraid there is also a WC and Washbasin! . In any case if you prefer to have a shower at a lower floor there is a shared shower. I went at this location especially to enjoy this room and was a great experience! The hotel is located in a valley close to the famous “Emmental” at the border between Berne and Lucerne. Staff is top and absolutely friendly. We also had dinner here and the food was top, breakfast also very good with local products. You can book a sauna for an half hour as well a jacauzzi tub of course free of charge. The location is perfect for lovers of the mountains. It’s an absolutely peaceful and relaxing place! Mr. Invernizzi, owner with his family, take care personally of the guests. Recommend at all!!! Look forward to there to try the igloo in winter!

Our son in law got this place recommended by his working colleague, and it was a pleasant surprise.

We all loved the fondu and the atmosphere in the igloo. Food was tasty and so was the wine.
The only minus was, that it felt a little bit stressed, we hardly hadn’t finished when they already started to clean the table.

They have two seatings one at 18.00 and one at 19.30.

Kemmeriboden Bad Landgasthof is nestled far away from civilization in a valley somewhere between Lucerne and Berne. We stayed here to celebrate my darling's 50th birthday and we had an amazing experience from A to Z! Staff at the reception and the restaurant are extremely friendly and make you feel at home immediately! It really feels like spending a good time at a friend's place! We had booked the 1878 room, a truly beautiful room, prt of the walls are built with hay, smelling nicely and there is a lot of history within these walls! We slept like angels, that's for sure! It was so calm, all you could hear was the river running calmly through the valley.
We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant, the food that is served is fantastic, the portions are big, unfortunately so big, there was no space left for the typical Meringue dessert! And the wine card has lots of treasures at really normal prices, something that one does not find very often anymore in Switzerland!
The next morning we enjoyed a typical Swiss Buffet Breakfast, there's everythng one can wish for and start a new day very well! We will be back for sure!

Looking for a in-budget seminar hotel can be quite tricky (CHF500 per person). Fortunately for us we got to this one by chance and we managed to remain under budget. Googling for seminar hotel and beautiful scenery, we landed upon this hotel, which turned out to be a real keeper. We were a group of nine people and arrived on Monday, which is usually their day of rest. But they made an exception for us. Aww...how kind. What a brilliant sign of customer service - in my opinion.
We were welcomed by a nice team who took good care of us throughout our seminar stay, provided us with great freshly made food and beverages (included complimentary to the seminar fee). The only food let down we experienced was with the cheese fondue we had for dinner. My only complaint to this whole 2 day experience is the bread we got served with the cheese fondue. Call me finicky... I'm sorry, but to cheese fondue it's not difficult to serve good bread. The bits were too large and the bread was spongey and not fresh.
The breakfast buffet was splendid. All fresh bread served and presented in a brilliant way, a number of great cheeses, an assortment of dried meats, jams in different shaped pots, muesli, yoghurt, milk and some warm prepared mini-croissant. Really a fantastic buffet. You can really stuff your face if you choose to.
Infrastructure-wise there aren't any set backs. The only comment I'd make, as 2 meter man as I am, some ceilings were a little low and had to be remembered when passing. But the fewest of people are 2 meters tall and don't share this concern.
The Standard room was spacious, clean and nicely arranged. It felt cosy and welcoming.
Pottering around outside, you're presented with a spectacular scenery of mountains surrounding you. Kemmeriboden-Bad is a great starting point for a day's hike to many directions. There are tracking routes, snow shoe hiking, mountain bike routes and the post bus route which takes you back to civilisation if you choose to. We weren't there for hiking, but I'm tempted to return when the time allows to spend some time with my wife, exploring the nature and hiking paths around.
