The hotel is in need of some serious renovation as the rooms although large are poorly kept, the beds are like the floor of a boxing ring and the shower cubicle door kept falling off. The staff outside the hotel were great very energised and friendly but the ones Manning reception and in the dining area were awful...terrible customer service, some of which may have been due to the language barrier but at breakfast bringing out extra fruit was a major battle. Food was awful ate there one time and regretted it even breakfast was dire. There's meant to be a bar but no one is there manning it and reception have better things to do apparently. I really thought it would be perfect for Gordon Ramsey to roll in with his truck and sort the whole place out. Finally a word about the noise...it's horrendous - during the day they play dance music very loudly by the pool and at night the parties seemed to start at 11pm and go on until 4am we were lucky as we had a room that was up on the 2nd floor but still required ear plugs and even then it was noisey. Overall very disappointed but for the pool and staff around it it would have got a 1 Star award.

We stayed for 2 nights. On arrival, the man on reception was very rude and aggressive. The room we were given was basic and run down. There were ants crawling around on the floor and the shower cubicle was broken. No decent space to hang clothes. The outdoor pool is a great size, but is used by the entire village, so it’s noisy (both from the noise of people and loud music) and massively over populated. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was actually not bad... nothing to shout about but decent enough. Nowhere to get lunch from though, other than the garage next door. The breakfast selection was a croissant or cereal. Very poor selection. Thankfully, we only stayed for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding and then heading to Taormina. I’ve stayed in basic hotels before, but this one was really very poor in both decor and service. Have met some rude people in my life, but none as rude as the man we met on reception on arrival. I’d find somewhere else before you consider staying here.

Found this hotel late at night after driving for hours looking for somewhere to stay. Big hotel with ample car parking - very impressive building but the inside lets it down. The staff speak a little English. Restuarant attached to hotel was full of families but the food was ok except the waiter stands over you while you read the menu - which is slightly off putting. There is a very large swimming pool at the back but it is open to the public so can get very busy. This has the protential to be a very upmarket resort but instead it feels like a homeless hostel

We stayed at Hotel Villa Giatra with 41 of our friends. We were celebrating our 10th Wedding Anniversary and this was really the only hotel large enough in the area to accommodate us all. I had read some reviews and they were pretty mixed so came here with an open mind and a c'est la Vie attitude. From the moment we arrived (1am Wednesday morning) we were treated like royalty. This is a family run hotel and each and every member of family/staff went over and beyond for all of us. From arranging all 20 something rooms, to the celebratory meal, to assisting with a lost passport (the lovely lady on the front desk actually drove me and lost passport friend to the police station to have all the documents he required to get back issued.) and flat car battery we were spoilt by the quality of service. This hotel has fantastic facilities, the pool is beautiful and never before have I sunbathed in such amazing surroundings and views. The pool staff work hard to please and assist as well as perfecting my child's swimming style. The rooms were clean and perfect for our needs. Beds were made daily and fresh towels were left as we required. We aren't the tidiest people in the world but the maids left our room spotless each afternoon. The food was fantastic. We ate in the hotel for lunch and dinner during our stay as well as eating out (which again the staff were happy to help book for us) and also celebrated our anniversary here. Whether they were catering for 10 of us for lunch or 59 adults and 14 kids for dinner the food was very very good and the waiters were able to assist with every need. What to expect when you come here... This is a family run hotel in the centre of Sicily. It's is just about as Sicilian as you can get. If you are looking to take in the real Sicilian life then this area/hotel is perfect for you. The staff speak a little English and all my Brit friends were able to get by and understood enough. It's the sort of place that locals visit during the day and would stay at for a special occasion. If you want the real experience this is the place for you. If however you want the full on tourist experience ie. English language, English life and English food then you're best off either staying at home or sticking to Benidorm. I cannot praise the hotel and staff enough we had the most amazing time and have been left with a feeling of longing to return. We will be back soon enough... Thank you Hotel Villa Giatra you couldn't have given us anymore x

Stayed for a wedding celebration and the hotel staff couldn't have helped us more if they tried! Very friendly staff and go out of their way for you, including the manageresstaking us to the local police station in her village as my fiance lost his passport and needed some letter from the police to get home! Rooms were of decent quality and a nice balcony. Food was good and the pool great - even though I didn't spend much time there, we went exploring. Thank you again for looking after us so well.

I recently stayed here for 6 nights with my daughter. We had a good size room and had the benefit of having a balcony but unfortunately the first two days were without hot water. Once we did get hot water the shower was great. The water pressure was lovely. I found that the lift was also a bit temperamental. For some reason when I tried calling it from the first floor it wouldn't come. Another downside is the breakfast. There were croissants, cereal and yoghurt but that is about it. I would have expected a bit more. A suggestion would be for fresh fruit to be included. The best bit about the hotel has to be the pool. It's spacious and has a lovely view of the mountains. This pool is also open to the public and not just to hotel guests so it can get busy. On weekends they hold pool parties late into the night with loud music but we couldn't hear it at all from our room which was great. The staff were friendly and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Stayed as part of a family wedding group. Large Hotel which looked like it had been refurbished in parts, in the middle of nowhere (town centre is apprx 15 mins by car) and if you haven't got a car you will be stuck for things to do, unless you like lounging around the pool - bear in mind no (free to use ) umbrellas or loungers around the pool. We stayed over a weekend so the pool was full of non-patrons. The hotel should give more precedence to its patrons (as in car parking and pool use etc) but non given. Don't think staff (especially the waiters) know how to treat customers so in need of customer service training. Miserable faces, no smiles and asking them for something was too much trouble, though Reception staff were better/helpful. Food was appalling, breakfast abysmal!!!! No coffee/tea making facilities. Wifi was patchy and tv was constantly breaking up. The petrol station next door is handy for sandwiches/snacks/pastries and the crema al caffe (ice cream coffee) was delicious! There is a small shopping centre (don't be put off by the outside as inside its air conditioned and has a few shops/bar/supermarket) along the main road but it is apprx 5 minute drive by car, not advisable to do on foot - due to heat and the mad drivers (no pavement). To sum up, even though the setting was beautiful - transport is essential as there is nothing at the hotel and places are far away.

I have been there only one night, but it has been more than enough for a lifetime. Upon arrival we have been assigned two rooms as booked but unfortunately one of the wc even if sealed was full of [--]. My wife had the wrong idea of flushing the water and this way at the reception started to argue that we were lying. The problem was solved changing the room. The morning after, we saw from the window a nice pool and we thought of spending the morning there but at 9.30 they started with music louder than a rock concert and stupid drink games at an otrageous volume. The pearl was of the hotel is the breakfast. We went down at the restaurant at 09.43 am and all tables were covered with rubbish from previous clients. A lazy and sad waiter prepared for us a table but we were 6 and there were only 3 plates, we asked for more plates that never arrived, but we could not even use the 3 because they were absolutely dirty and filthy. There was no food because there was been no replacement. The only item available were some marmalade croissant. We asked for some espressos that were wonderfully served in plastic glasses. Coffee was horrible so we decided to leave the hotel for having a proper breakfast and we found the final surprise: Our car was trapped by hundreds of other cars of people from the surrounding coming at the hotel for using the pool. We needed 30 minutes at 36 C° for leaving the car park that was a desert the night before when we left the car ! Leave well avoid this place !

Very bad experience. Staff speak almost no English, rooms and bed are just horrible and breakfast is the worst. The location of the hotel just abeam a main road and a Gaz station give a very poor feeling and bad view. Only the swimming pool looks ok. Hope to find another place soon.
