My family and I stayed at Zoran’s apartment for 4 nights. It was in the heart of the characterful old town, up on the hill within the national park, and had lovely views over the pine forests and hills. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. It was a short walk down to the lakes at the centre of the national park. Zoran was an wonderful host, recommending places to see, and renting bikes for us as well as taking us on an trip to see Odysseus’s cave. Staying here was our favourite place on our trip. Thank you so much Zoran, we look forward to visiting again!

We stayed in Zoran and Tamara's apartment for 4 nights. It was beautiful! Apartment is so charmy and fully equipped! One night Zoran let us watch movie about Mljet in his gallery, providing great Croatian wine as well. The highlight though was the last night when he made extraordinary dinner. Ahh, the taste of that fish is something we'll never forget! We loved it Zoran! Thank you for your hospitality. Looking forward to see you again!

Thank you for a lovely 3 day stay in the Fire Apartment. It was very clean and well equipped with a comfortable bed. Zoran was welcoming and offered advice on walks and places to visit. Take time to watch the film that on the National Park that Zoran has available. If are a keen runner this is a great place to visit with endless possibilities from the flat routes around the lakes to the hillier routes up the wooded hillsides. Visiting at the end of the season meant that we had the National Park almost to ourselves and spent both days walking/ running and enjoying this lovely part of Croatia. The lakes looked inviting for a swim if it had been a bit warmer. We stocked up on provisions on the mainland but there was no need as the local shops had a good range of provisions including fresh fruit and veg. Thank you again for a lovely stay. Highly recommend this apartment and location is you are looking for a quiet place to relax.

Tamara and Zoran were excellent hosts despite being very busy (they have a couple of businesses going on), picking us up from the ferry port and giving us a free transfer to the 'fire' apartment. The apartment had everything you needed with great air con, wifi and all the kitchen utensils you may need. We borrowed bikes on one of our days and cycled around the big lake (a must on your holiday). Unfortunately they didn't have the kayaks ready yet but you can rent them from a place located at the little bridge where the big lake and small lake meet. From the apartment it is only a 5 minute walk to the big lake and approx 20 minute walk to Pomena (where the supermarkets and restaurants are located). Wish we spent more than 4 nights here, Mljet is beautiful and our hosts made us feel so welcome.

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2017. I would give this 4.5 stars but since I cannot, I gave it 5. Zoran, the owner, is so friendly and so hard working! One little problem, is that he is trying to run two businesses at the same time (art gift shop in Pomena and the accommodation). This may be different in summer season, but now it was a bit crazy at times as he was doing everything by himself. One of the consequences was that it was not possible to have breakfast at the accommodation the second and third morning. We like our breakfast, so that was unfortunate! A tip: in Polace they serve breakfast at a lot of the restaurants, in Pomena the offer is poor and your only option may be hotel Odisej with huge buffet style breakfast of debatable quality. The apartment is perfect. Spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, aircon, just everything you need. Comfortable bed. OK shower. Best shower gel ever! This was probably the most charming apartment we stayed in during our trip. The one time we had breakfast, this was perfect. More than enough. Fresh bread, cheese, cold cuts, jams, yogurt, etc. Dinner is another thing... you'll have to walk to either Pomena or Polace. It's about 25-30 minutes, and in particular the way back is uphill a lot. But on the other hand it's not as warm temperatures by then. It's doable. There's another konoba at the lake, but it's overpriced and reviews are mixed, so we didn't try that. We didn't mind the walk, but some may prefer to have a car when staying here. We liked the peacefulness of the accommodation. Location is not the best because it's far from everything, but Polace and Pomena are both overrun by tourists, boats playing music, etc., quite commercial places. 3 full days on Mljet is a bit much, in our opinion. Since we arrived early on our first day, we had almost 3 full days. The last day we rented a car in Polace (Mini Brum, which is the only company on the island), and explored the island.

My husband and I were planning a romantic getaway and booked flights to Dubrovnik for a long weekend. But then I realised I needed some peace and quiet and read about the beautiful island of Mljet. We were worried that it might be too ambitious to go there during such a short trip, but I'm so glad we did take the effort. Zoran collected us from the airport for a reasonable fee, an offer we couldn't resist. During the (quite long) drive he was chatting away and regulalry waving to people he knew. He's the kind of guy you immediately feel comfortable with, very open and friendly, great company. We even stopped to eat a few oysters (delicious and fresh) at a stall he knew by the side of the road, near Ston. We stayed in the Fire Apartment and it was super comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Big bathroom too and we had use of the huge terrace at the back of the house. The view was spectacular and it was so quiet, exacly what we were looking for. The first night we ate at Mali Raj in Babine Kuće, just down the hill, right on the lake. We were amazed by the millions of stars we could see when it got dark. The second night Zoran cooked for us and it was delicious - grilled fish from the barbecue for main course. As his wife and sons were on the mainland, he was doing everything by himself, and did a very good job. He's a great cook and host. On Mljet we mainly walked and snorkeled. The water is so clear and there are lots of fish to see. The nature is stunning. On the third day we took the ferry to Dubrovnik where we stayed one night. It's a beautiful town, but overrun by tourists. Next time we'll skip Dubrovnik and just come to the island. We'll definitely stay in this accommodation again, thank you Zoran!

The hosts were extremely accommodating, helping us with bikes, kayaks, recommending restaurants, walks and trips. The collected and dropped us off from the ferry. The hosts were friendly and happy to talk and tell us about the Island. It was great to stay with people who were passionate about arts and their local environment and wanted others to experience it too. The breakfast on offer was filling and fantastic. The apartment is spacious, characterful and fashionably decorated. There is a outdoor terrace to eat at and a quiet art gallery below. The kitchen is well equipped, bed is comfy. The views from the apartment were stunning - out onto unspoilt wooded hills. The apartment seems quite isolated, but actually is a quick 10 minute walk down to the large lake (for swimming, ferry, walks etc). Best to stock up on food from the supermarket where the ferry arrives (the hosts encouraged us to do this!). It is about 20 min walk to Pomena if you use some shortcuts, which the hosts pointed out to us. The apartment is great if you would like to really experience outdoor life on the island. Expect to do some walking or cycling to and from the accommodation thought the beautiful countryside. These were some of the best bits of our holiday in Croatia and we really enjoyed our stay. We would certainly stay here again and have already recommended it to friends and family.

Tamara and Zoran renovated the old school of Govedari, a small village up the hills in the heart of the Mljet National Park. They live there for a good part of the year with their two sons. They do everything they can (and more) to make you feel at home. Not only do they wait for you at the boat in Polace but also offer to drive you to the nearest small shop when needed. They also give you access to their bikes and kayaks (at a more affordable price then elsewhere) to enjoy at most the salted lakes. We were also happy to stay with them when they were organizing the summer movie festival under the stars in the village. Another magical moment. One evening, we asked Zoran to prepare a meal for us and it was another high of our stay. Three courses on the candlelit terrace, what else could you expect ? And the rooms (we stayed in both the Turquoise and the Fire Apartments) are also decorated with utmost taste and very comfortable indeed. We can't wait to come back !

The owners couldn't have been more welcoming & helpful. Breakfast was simple & tasty (eggs, coffee, fruit, bread, jam, yogurt) - all served on the terrace. Kayaks & mountain bikes to rent for the day were a good price vs the others on offer. A little bit isolated but that gets you amazing views of the forest in a truly relaxing spot. The lakes are a 10min walk down hill & incredibly beautiful. We were lucky enough that an outdoor cinema was on in the village the night we stayed. The apartment was comfortable with everything you need & if it's not there just ask! They picked us up from the ferry (twice - my husband arrived late), helped with first aid (my daughter fell off her bike). Tamara & Zoran really worked hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible! Thanks for a great start to our island hopping holiday.
