Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here as we were going to the Goth weekend at Whitby. Such a beautiful Guesthouse in a stunning location. We were made to feel very welcome all through our stay. The owners of the Guesthouse were very friendly. Our room was on the ground floor, and it was beautifully presented, plus it had a super king-sized bed, that was extremely comfortable. We had a delicious full English breakfast, cooked to perfection, with tea, coffee and fruit juice. We would definitely give it 5 stars.

Great experience from start to finish, friendly welcoming owners who could not do enough to help you and made it feel like home. Accommodation was top, immaculately clean room and plenty of amenities and if you run low are super quick to replenish. Also the breakfasts were to die for. Owners were very informative and helpful with walks and things to do in and around Goathland would highly recommend this place and the owners hospitality. Great work guys will be recommending you and look forward to another stay.

We had an excellent three days at Halmer Grange. The hosts, Angie and Rick were really nice and we particulary enjoyed our chats after breakfast. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The added bonus was the short walk accross the churchyard to The Mallyan Spout Hotel for our evening meals (torches provied by our hosts).

What a gem in lovely surroundings. Huge comfortable bed, room was gorgeous and nice shower. Angie and Rick were great hosts who looked after anything we needed, starting each morning with a great breakfast. Ideal that you can get a bus to Whitby just across the road. We didn't get chance to do railway due to time of break, but would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Nice bar opposite in hotel, bus to Whitby etc if you want a break from driving. It's a steep walk...

It was a real treat stopping here for a few nights for my birthday. The guest house is situated in the lovely village of Goathland right next to the village church. When we arrived we was greeted by a very homely atmosphere. The friendly owners gave us all the information needed not just about the house and room but about the surrounding village, where to eat, walk and so on. The room was fantastic, spotless with everything we needed. All in all I would highly recommend the Halmer Grange Guest House.

Stayed 3 nights & could quite easily have stayed for more. Usually stay in a hotel in Goathland but decided to give this b&b a try & so glad we did. Angie & Rick are lovely hosts, very friendly, helpful & nothing is too much trouble. We had snow, however that didn't faze us as the views from our room were like a picture postcode & the b&b was cosy & warm. We stayed in the Blackberry room, it was large, very clean & had everything we needed. The pre-ordered breakfast was very nice & extra could be ordered if needed. Only a 2 minute walk to a bar & restaurant & a 10 minute walk to village shops etc. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend & will def return.
