This was the second occasion we have used the Malyion Spout hotel and it won't be the last. Absolutely wonderful hotel in a beautiful and peaceful location. From arrival to leaving the location oozes class. Accomodation excellent and staff very friendly and polite. We will return again shortly as it is now a favourite of ours.

Fantastic hotel, great staff, very good food. Stayed for three nights to celebrate wifes birthday. Had a very interesting discussion with a couple of local chaps in the bar, made to feel extremely welcome. Very good food although the sausage at breakfast was not to my taste but that is a personal thing. Lovely room .

Had a lovely couple of hours here by the fire. Very nice lunch served by friendly and accommodating staff. The perfect stop off. Would be wonderful here on a snowy day. Have been to Goathland a couple of times now and this place is much better than the Goathland Hotel in our experience.

This is a smart-looking hotel. The interior is more traditional than modern. The bar and bar area is surprisingly small for such a large building, but there is seating in the lounge area. Groups of walkers are welcome, and can use the carpeted lounge area provided they have clean boots (or have changed footwear), which is only common sense. Bar...

Stayed here in between Christmas and new year. The room we were allocated was an attic room and was nice and clean with a good comfy bed only downside was the cold bathroom. The food was excellent with good choices on the menu for both breakfast and dinner. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The only negative was there...

Visited for one night on business. Very comfy room. Ate in the bar. Food was very good, only issue was that chips were a bit undercooked. However when I mentioned this, the staff were very keen to make amends and offered me a free desert, which I had to decline as I was full. Staff attitude was excellent. Overall a...

I was really looking forward to visiting here I am a local and eat out regular at different establishments as I like to try different things.I was shocked at how small the bar area was for such a grand old building on a busy day you would not get many in the bar area.i ordered my starters which were delicious!!...

Could not have been more unwelcoming in the bar area to a group of well meaning holidaymakers out for New Years Eve celebrations. A bearded Mr Grumpy behind the bar kickstarted the night on the wrong foot, but definitely shades of American Werewolf in London with hard stares from the locals (methinks we sat in someones seat). Such a shame,...

This annual trip has become almost a pilgrimage for us and something we look forward to during the year. Goathland never seems to change, a feature which we like amidst a world that never stands still! The quality and comfort of the Mallyan is similarly unchanging and there's always a warm welcome awaiting visitors. We've never thought of going anywhere...
