Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in the Beck Hole bedroom suite with the most fantastic views. The room was lovely and clean and had everything you would need. We ate in the bar and the food was fresh and tasty. I can definitely recommend the steak. Staff so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return x

Enjoyed a bar meal, food was served hot,we had the belly pork and the steak pie. Very tasty and well presented, the meal didn’t take long considering the hotel was full with the afternoon tea offer. Only quibble was £7.00 for a 175ml of wine!!!

What a wonderful place. We stayed in a Junior Suite. It was beautiful. We had a meal in the bar which was delicious. The breakfast, which we had in our room, was also delicious. The staff couldn't do enough for us. We can't recommend the hotel enough.

One of my absolute favourite hotels in the UK. What a delightful place- the staff are AMAZING- so friendly and they all go out of their way to make you feel welcome…. The food was utterly delicious- I will go as far as to say the best meal I’ve ever had, and the hotel itself is full of such charm. A fabulous stay and I am about to book again, this time bringing my whole family

Called at short notice for Sunday lunch with 4 adults, 1 teenager and 2 children. So glad we did. From the minute we stepped into the hotel we were made welcome by all the staff we encountered. They were so helpful, friendly, welcoming and polite. The meals themselves were absolutely delicious and certainly value for money. We can highly recommend the Mallyan Spout Hotel for its Sunday lunch and will certainly call again when in the area.

Our second time here and felt as much a treat as the first! The hotel is warm and welcoming and set in the beautiful moorland village of Goathland. The village shops and historic steam railway station are a relaxing 15mins stroll away, the roads mostly shared with sheep! The room we had was comfortable and spacious, with a lovely view. The bar was a lovely place to enjoy a few drinks and the barman (whose name I forget!) was very friendly and made us feel at home. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant of The Mallyan; both our meals were delicious! My scallops to start and duck breast for main were fantastic. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent. Thanks to all staff; it won’t be our last visit, worth the long drive from Essex!

We stayed overnight along with family and friends for a celebration meal and I cannot praise the restaurant and kitchen staff highly enough, to cater for a large group and be able to bring starters followed by main courses out ahead of schedule was very impressive - as was the quality and presentation of the food. Everyone was complimentary about the food and service in particular. The only downside are the many steep stair cases in the hotel which some of our party struggled with, however we were made aware of these before booking. Additionally the communication and arrangements leading up to our visit were also exceptional from start to finish. Thank you to everyone involved in making our celebration so perfect and memorable.
