My wife and I got married here on the 28th December 2019 and we had such an amazing day.

A lot of credit must go to Katie Bolton who looked the whole day for us which ran smoothly and how we and she expected.

Katie was on hand when ever we needed her and her input and knowledge helped us have a great day.

Our day guests were impressed with how the room looked and it catered for 80 day guest very easily.

There's a bar in the main room which keeps guests all together and the atmosphere was great, I've been to so many venues where the main room is half empty due to people needing to go some place else to get a drink.

The food was lovely, came out quick and hot and Katie's little helpers were fantastic.

The location is handy, opposite the train station and 10 minutes off the M42.

Our room was made up lovely but it does only have 11 rooms up for grabs. The price of the room are higher to places surrounding it which is the only slightly bit of negative feedback i have. It felt a little unfair offering immediate family rooms for £130 for the night knowing friends were booking rooms 5 minutes away for a lot cheaper.

We would highly recommend this venue to couples looking to get married and if Katie is organising these events you're in safe hands

Nice warm welcome on arrival and plenty of free parking when I was there.

Only 12 bedrooms. Unfortunately my single glazed station facing room suffered from train noise such that it disturbed sleep with full speed freight trains at night replacing passenger trains. Can't believe more have not flagged this.

Room was quite spacious, clean but a bit tired and the TV was tiny with a remote that was not up to the job. Bottled water but no signs of a biscuit on hospitality tray. WiFi worked well.

Breakfast next morning was fairly basic and the poached egg was over cooked.

Limited choice in the area and not too far from NEC so presumably benefits from that.

Enforced stay here of 23 nights due to renovation work at home. Made extremely welcome by the staff from the very first telephone enquiry to ascertain if accommodation was available. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone from the housekeepers to the licensee/manager went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We had to change rooms for a couple of nights because of boiler maintenance and for this minor inconvenience, unprompted, we were offered a delicious complimentary evening meal. Ownership changed last year and the focus of the hotel is now very much on the promotion of good food/fine dining and the gradual refurbishment of the building. The breakfasts were superb but occasionally we only wanted something straightforward and so porridge and toast/preserves were added to the menu at our request. Some reviewers have commented on the bar but this is a local village meeting place and the bar can become very busy on Fridays and Saturday evenings. However, we were never disturbed and slept soundly in our comfortable room. The railway station is only 50 metres away but we were not disturbed by the passing trains and the hotel is ideally situated for fast services to Birmingham and London Marylebone.

Room 5, no view other than of brick walls, a flat roof and an extractor chimney. The room smelt like a bonfire due to the smoke from the chimney which possibly was for the pizza oven? The room stank of smoke all night, leaving my clean clothes smelling of smoke. Very unpleasant. The hotel itself is well located with a busy bar and restaurant, although I thought the menu was limited.

I visited the Forest the end March, as a solo traveller.
From the charming ladies on reception who were incredibly kind and caring, the staff who checked I was happy with the heating, the staff who brought me room service as separate courses, ensuring nothing was cold, the gentleman who took my order for breakfast, to the ladies cleaning the reception in the morning, I would like to say, thank you.... I have never had such superlative service across the board.

I hasten to add the service was not intrusive and I had a most relaxing stay.
The room was very comfortable, quiet and had all the amenities one needed.

The food was utterly delicious, breakfast having some really unusual choices. I had the ox cheek benedict!! Amazing.

Thank you all. I will definitely be returning.

At the start of the pandemic in 2020, our daughter booked her marriage ceremony and reception at the Forest Hotel in the belief that all restrictions would be lifted – regrettably, this was not the case. Furthermore, as we had booked all rooms and a family meal on the eve of the wedding, we were present to see the very heavy rainfall which caused a major section of the ground floor to be submerged under water and we were concerned how these events would impact upon the day.

The reality was all staff were brilliant, food and service were exceptional, and the organisation was outstanding. Every member of staff went out of their way to successfully overcome any problems caused by the flooding and they made the day itself both memorable and special.

A few bedrooms could be slightly updated, but all were comfortable with full facilities as you would expect from a venue of this standard. However, this in no way detracted from the occasion and we have nothing but praise and a huge thank you to the Forest team.

Wedding guests all gave positive feedback and from our experience, we would highly recommend this venue for any special occasion.

Came to try the Sunday lunch, wanted to love it.
Room seems clinical, no pictures on the walls and the room wasn’t warm, and very strange music going on !
The waiter was really good, we had the pork roast dinner, chicken and a steak, wasn’t expecting a pork chop, disappointed with that, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding (that you had to pay extra for) was burnt too, steak was good and cooked well, everything seemed like it was kept warm then brought out, but wasn’t hot as if it had just been cooked, only one person had a pudding, which was the crumble, thought they had sent a mini desert ! Tiny !
We wanted to find a local great Sunday lunch place but I’m afraid this isn’t it, average at best and not cheap !

Visited here for Sunday Lunch as a pre Birthday treat. Cannot fault anything here, the food was delicious, two of us had the roast beef with all the trimming and one of us had the fish dish which she pronounced excellent. Good choice of starters too, although portions quite small. We all chose the Forest Banoffi Pie which was lovely.

The staff were friendly and service was excellent, especially when I accidentally knocked my wine glass over, wine everywhere - in my dinner, all over the table etc. They replaced the whole meal and gave me a new glass of wine, was no trouble at all to them.

As they were told it was my Birthday (or nearly) they presented me with a plate of tiny little cakes with Happy Birthday written in icing across the plate - such a lovely touch!

Will certainly be recommending The Forest to my friends and am looking forward to returning to try the a la carte menu.

We had such a wonderful time at The Forest Hotel and would highly recommend it. We held a party for 50 people in the Olive Room and it was a huge success. The staff were extremely helpful, food was great, our room was very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

I’ve written several reviews about the Forest and, eulogised about it every time, but, what on earth has happened to it?
I had the traditional Sunday Roast Beef…..it wasn’t just tasteless, but chewy as well!
The Yorkshire pudding, was soggy, the gravy ( jus) was like hot water and rapeseed oil with colouring ( although in fairness hot), the roast potatoes were both cold and certainly not crispy, the romanesco, hadn’t been cooked and,it appeared to have just been dipped into hot water for a second.
Because, we were told that there was a 30 minute wait for service, Shannon, our incredibly helpful and attentive waitress brought us some sour dough bread.
It was inedible, tasteless and stale. It tasted like old rubber!
What a total disaster.
In fairness,Shannon ( who was brilliant) didn’t charge me for my roast, but, why have you gone so badly wrong?
I didn’t have the nerve to mention to her that my glass of Rioja was oxidised.
We really miss you Mike Bullard.
Why did you ever leave?
