Greeted by a friendly member of staff who was very helpful. The room was light and airy with a comfortable bed and useful additions such as a heater, ironing board and iron and a fan. The decor was a little tired but the standard of cleanliness was excellent. My husband found getting in the bath for a shower a little tricky but he is waiting for a hip replacement. I missed having a bedside table on my side of the bed but it wasn't too big a deal. As our room was on the side of the building by the main road it was a little noisy with traffic busy until late into the evening but I understand that the building is old and may not be able to have double glazing fitted. A nicely cooked breakfast awaited us in the morning and considering what we paid I would say good value for money and we would definitely use again.

I had booked to stay with a group of colleagues. The lady at reception was really helpful, check in was easy and the car park is free, if it’s full the car park across the road is also free. We had booked a table for the evening and the food was brilliant, the service was also good. At dinner the waitress asked if we would like a table set for breakfast and asked if we knew what time we would go down. All sorted. We got to breakfast in the morning and the table was ready. The juices and cereals were free to serve everything else was to order. We ordered 8 breakfasts in the morning and the waitress was quite overwhelmed by it all. There are 16 rooms in the hotel some that sleep 4 people so an order for 8 people shouldn’t be an issue. Breakfast took 50mins to arrive, it was then not correct and orders were mixed up. Due to the fact we were travelling for work we just accepted what came. It was the only let down to the stay everything else was perfect.

I have stayed or eaten here many times as it is a handy stop off between Kent and my home in Cornwall. The rooms are really comfortable and the room rate which includes a great cooked to order breakfast is very reasonable. The hotel doesn't serve food on Sunday evenings and I arrived at 4pm when the kitchen was closed but the chef made me a really nice sandwich. There is an Italian restaurant next door which is open on Sunday so I was able to eat there in the evening. However, on other evenings I can recommend the food in the hotel which is delicious and uses local ingredients.

I had the misfortune of staying here for two nights, and when I reported that the TV and the Internet connection (which I needed for a business meeting) weren't working, I was treated very poorly, and repeatedly told I had put in the wrong code, despite trying well over a dozen times, and asking another guest to try it, without success (it mysteriously started working a few hours later with the same code!); the TV was not even looked at; the shower in room 1 has such low water pressure that it is not worth using; the attitude of the staff, including one person I believed to be the manager was very poor. The lady who served breakfast decided to give me food I hadn't asked for (both days), so that went to waste; the manager had ample opportunity to address these issues with me personally, but chose not to, and just treated me like I was something on her shoe. I'm not in the habit of complaining about hotels, but for this one, I will make an exception. The problem with Trip Advisor is that the hotel now gets the right of reply, but then there is no further comeback if they fudge over the issues raised, so I am sure they will put something twee and condescending in response; it is up to you if you believe them. Oh, and their Covid policy seems to only apply to some members of staff and not others.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my brother. Both our rooms were very comfortable and fairly quiet.
Rooms had hairdryer and iron(with a small fold out Ironing board) in them which were both very handy.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the food very good(though a little over priced)
The only real negative were the showers as both were a little small. Shower taps were badly positioned making them easy to knock with your arms etc which did hurt. The shower curtains were also too close & could easily become entangled in them.

Our room - the Deluxe Suite - was full of character and extremely comfortable for our short stay in Ilchester.
This historic inn is in the centre of the village and offers a good restaurant with a varied menu.
Parking on site was a welcome bonus and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Good value for the level of comfort and the facilities on offer.

I spent one night at the Ilchester Arms Hotel while travelling with friends. On arrival we dined in the restaurant having a very welcome and satisfactory meal. The price was slightly on the higher side, but it is noticeable that many establishments have had to to raise their prices latterly to cope with inflation. The accommodation at the hotel was spotlessly clean and the bed linen was crisp and fresh. The room although not large was perfectly adequate. I have no complaints whatsoever regarding the accommodation. The breakfast the following morning was also very varied and catered to differing dietary requirements. I would be very happy to stay there again in this attractive village.

I booked the florist room to host my best friends hen do, from start to finish the team maintained communication with me to ensure every detail was considered. When I arrived they had set the room up in such a nice way- I was quite taken aback by how beautifully the table had been laid. The staff were very attentive on the night and full compliments to the chef-the food was incredible and tasted so good, it was all bought out at the same time and presented very well. Some of us stayed overnight- the rooms were lovely and the breakfast the next day was very tasty. I would highly recommend this venue. Thankyou to all the staff who contributed towards our experience :)

We only stayed in Ilchester due to visiting the Haynes Car Museum and the go-kart track during the day, but the Ilchester Arms fitted the bill perfectly! Lovely staff, quirky, oldy-woldy accommodation at a very reasonable price and oh my, the most incredible breakfast! If we are ever that way again (highly likely as Haynes and go-karts is my husband's perfect day EVERRRRRR!), we will definitely stay there again. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel as on Sundays they only serve Sunday Lunch (and we arrived around 4pm). However we did have dinner at Nuova Italia next door, which was divine (see my review on this restaurant).
