Absolutely beautiful place, couldn’t fault it at all! Stunning location, easy to get to all the beaches and castles but you could have just stayed close by and had a lovely holiday. Everything in the Coach House was beautifully done and everything was thought of to make your stay perfect. Thank you, Just lovely and hope to come back soon :)
We have just got home after staying at The Retreat over the Easter Weekend 2022. WOW - It was absolutely amazing! You come through your own private gate off the road, and at the end of a short track is your beautiful cottage. The location is so private and the views around are gorgeous. On stepping inside, the smell of freshly baked bread will hit you! And the freshly made soup will be ready for you too. The kitchen and dining area are carefully thought out, and have every single kitchen utensil or gadget you could possibly require. Through some glass you can see your private swimspa jacuzzi. It is just incredible, and after a weekend of floating around in it, we feel so relaxed! Upstairs you'll find a lounge area and your bedroom, with bathroom. The mattress on the bed is SO COMFY, we slept so well. Around the corner from the cottage is a local cafe selling fits and sweet treats, which we loved! There is also an electric car charger located at Ingram Village Hall. I had communicated with Graham and Trysha by email several times before we arrived and they were incredibly helpful with answering all of my questions, and we met Graham on our way out as we left, very friendly. We would 1000% stay here again, and will be recommending a stay here to all of our friends. We will definitely be back! It is difficult to be critical when The Retreat has been so thoughtfully laid out and prepared by the owners, but if I do have anything negative to say, it would be that the tap in the kitchen dripped constantly (Graham is aware and waiting for a part so it can be fixed) and my only other issue, not related to The Retreat at all, is my car was absolutely covered in bird poo after being parked under a tree for 4 days! Bloody nature, haha.…
A really great place to spend a relaxing week which we thoroughly enjoyed. The cottage itself was incredibly comfortable and the bonus was a hot-tub immediately outside on the patio. If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen is really well equipped with everything you would ever need. The warm bread and soup on arrival in the cottage was a real treat! There are great walks from the cottage itself without having to get in the car. Access to the highest points on the Cheviots are only a two mile ride further up into the valley and the gorgeous Northumbrian beaches at Bamburgh and Druridge Bay are all within 30 minutes drive.
My husband and I have just spent a really lovely week at this property in Ingram. Fresh soup and bread on arrival together with a slow cooked stew for dinner. Our hosts seem to have thought of everything! The lodge was warm and very comfortable. Everything you need for a relaxing week. Indeed we will both really miss the hot tub and peace and quiet. The bed was so comfy and the roomy bathroom and fully equipped kitchen could not be bettered. New for 2022 are the electric bikes which made it so easy to see a bit more of the local area which is truly beautiful. Graham could not have been more helpful. We hope to be back. Sue and Tony.
Working away 4 of us stayed at a very lovely cottage. The area was very quiet and not far from amenities. There was plenty parking, neighbours were friendly. Nice place to stay while working away. Took a coupe days to get used to narrow roads around the area, made driving interesting! Proper country! Highly recommend if you’re after a warm, quiet country cottage!
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Cheviot Holiday Cottages. We chose The Retreat as it had a swim spa inside the cottage. We certainly weren't disappointed. It was such a luxury and very private. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and kitchen gadgets galore. The homeade soup and bread were very welcoming after our long journey. The location is stunning with an abundance of wildlife. We were even visited every morning and evening by a red squirrel which was a lovely sight. We would definitely return here. The hosts were lovely and welcoming too.
We’ve just returned home having spent a very relaxing week in Barley Mill and the Coach House - the earlier reviews on Tripadvisor do not exaggerate! Situated in a very peaceful area near Ingram Bridge, Cheviot Cottages appear to be remote, yet there were plenty of things to do in the area. The cottages are spotlessly clean (very important in the current climate), beautifully appointed, well-equipped and luxurious - from the comfy beds and fluffy towels to the double ended jetted bath which everyone loved! Graham and Trysha were the perfect hosts, very welcoming and happy to deal with any needs - not that there were many! They seemed to have perfected the ability to be unobtrusive, yet somehow materialise whenever you needed them! During our stay, our family had a medical emergency, during which Graham and Trysha were so supportive. I wholeheartedly recommend this destination and look forward to returning sometime in the not too distant future!…
We stayed for a week in The Retreat in June 2021 and had a delightful time. The owners really have invested in making this a truly luxurious place with everything catered for. The cottage is beautiful with the added enjoyment of the spa pool. The living room, which is a lovely and very comfortable room, has amazing views over the Cheviot Hills and the garden. The garden has the most majestic trees both at the back and front of the cottage. We sat and just enjoyed reading and watching the birds and trees everyday on the patio area. The nearby cafe is very convenient and one can access and walk into the very beautiful Cheviot Hills without having to drive there if wanted. The surrounding countryside is very special and this is such a relaxing place and area to spend time in. Graham and Trisha are great hosts as they are there if needed but very respectful of one’s privacy. We loved our stay at this unique and high spec property.…
We stayed at The Retreat Cottage and it was unbelievable. We entered to lovely music playing in each room of the cottage and a fresh loaf of bread waiting for us. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need, plus more which the wife now wants to buy for our house! The Swim Spa is amazing and relaxing with two lounge chairs to relax on with a good book. (the Bellagio fountain feature was good!) Graham was great, met us on arrival and departure and was always available If we had any questions. We're already planning our next trip!
We've just returned from a lovely week in the Gate Lodge. The cottage is set in a stunning, tranquil location and being inside the national park we could take beautiful walks through the hills (or just to the tea shop) right from the doorstep. A really luxurious retreat that felt very covid secure. Thanks Graham and Trysha, we hope to visit again soon!
