Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

WOW! To me this had to be better than a premier lodge. So So Comfortable, and all the in room extras.. A walk in double shower to die for. I was working on the Constructionarium at the CITB establishment and very lucky to secure a room for one night. I highly recommend you book early if you are visiting the training college... 3 Course evening meal, plus a fully loaded cooked breakfast at the onsite canteen.. All in all, No faults from me... I really look forward to a return visit..

Stayed at the Birches for two nights, I have stayed many times over the last 10 years. Since my last visit a refurbishment has occurred. The rooms are now spacious, clean and fresh, loads of sockets for power a desk, tv, kettle large shower instant hot water and comfortable bed. Lights controllable from the bed too. A huge improvement to my last stay. Value for money too, very reasonably priced. Location is remote but there is a bar in the building and a restaurant service on the campus that closes early evening. Over all a pleasing comfortable and quiet stay.

We stayed here for the night as had a wedding near by. Great value for money. Nice room with comfy bed. Great size room with coffee making facilities, flat screen TV and provide all towels. Bathrooms was also night. Breakfast is served early on a Sunday morning but you can get continental and they also offer cooked breakfast. Great place for an overnight stay.

I attended a wedding function at The Birches, I was booked as the DJ so it was a working break and I stayed for 1 night. The room was very nice - spacious, modern & clean, the bathroom was huge. The staff were very nice & could not have been more helpful. I only had the evening buffet-style meal so can't comment on the wedding breakfast or main sit-down meals except to say that if the buffet was anything to go by I'm sure it was excellent. This is also what the wedding guests were saying. In my opinion the only 'negatives' were that the room had no net curtains and looked out onto the patio area of the bar so if I was not dressed I had to have the main curtains closed and switch the lights on instead of having daylight coming in. Also, the conference centre is quite remote, there's nothing nearby really to walk to (as far as I could tell) so you will need a car, or check out the public transport options. I popped to Hunstanton which was about 15 mins drive away, it was very nice but not that much there, just 'seaside' type shops. If you are looking for more of a town centre shopping experience, I gather you need to travel to Kings Lynn for this (although I didn't have time to go there myself.) I would definitely recommend The Birches for a wedding or other celebration.

We held our annual group dinner at The Birches in 2014. Everything was so good we returned again. We were not disappointed as service, excellent food, cleanliness, helpfulness of staff was very apparent again. We stayed overnight and the room was similar to last year (see my review below). Breakfast was in the self-service National Construction College restaurant (300 yards away) and was a good start to the day. The Birches is good value and definitely worth considering for a stay in this part of West Norfolk.

Stayed at The Birches for a wedding. The rooms were a great size, spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. The staff were outstanding and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast was of a very high standard, hot with plenty of choice. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay, will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Attended a wedding at The Birches at the weekend and found a real gem in the depths of Norfolk. The staff - in particular Mark - couldn't do enough for us, organising a flat for the bridal party to change in prior to the ceremony and making sure everything ran smoothly. The meal itself was outstanding - especially the desserts - and the staff very patient when dealing with people who couldn't remember what they had pre-ordered! My overnight accommodation was in a refurbished room and couldn't fault it - the tea and coffee supplies were more than adequate. Due to another event the following day, we had breakfast in the student restaurant and were slightly wary but needn't have worried. The staff made sure we had everything we needed, the food was all freshly cooked and there was plenty of it. Took me back to my student days. We didn't have time to make use of the leisure facilities but I would have no problem going back on another occasion to try them out.

We were a group (39). We wanted somewhere different in West Norfolk for an annual dinner. The Birches was selected and delivered all we expected and more. The service was just what was required, the food was excellent and Paul and his staff bent over backwards to ensure the evening was a success. For those with a Service background The Birches immediately reminds one of an Officers Mess, which it was many years ago. it is though the peaceful tranquility of the surrounding countryside which is quickly apparent. I chose to stay overnight and the re-furbished room was excellent. En-suite had a walk-in shower. Teas/coffees/milks there were a plenty, plus kettle, bottle of water, shower gel and shampoo/conditioner. A TV with all the Freeview channels. A full English breakfast next morning. Would definitely consider another stay.

What a pleasant surprise so near to home! We stayed at The Birches for a Valentines Evening Dinner & Dance. From the moment you enter the reception you are made welcome. The rooms newly refurbished are very clean, everything you could need, including 12 milks for your coffee! The hotel was very warm, which in mid Feb was very welcomed. The food was excellent, faultless Staff, very attentive, friendly & polite. For the price of £90 per couple we could not fault the entire stay. Although next time we will ask for a room on the second floor, as the guests above us decided not to sleep!! Suggestion for next time, include a glass of champagne instead of the rose, much more romantic Thank you all, was an anjoyable evening
