The A-board outside announces that there is a special restaurant deal on Wednesdays - 2 courses for £20.
We had booked in advance for a Wednesday in April and even though the A-board still announced the offer, apparently that ended last week.

Stayed here March 2024 for a single night as a couple with two dogs.
Beautiful hotel, arrived out of hours but still greeted by very helpful staff. Room was enormous (Room 1) and unbelievably comfortable. Breakfast and service were sensational, really felt like we were being spoiled. Everything is clean and tidy, you can tell there is pride in the establishment
Would absolutely return here, and will.

This was a meal with friends Wednesday lunchtime for Norfolk Restaurant Week. We walked into a beautifully decorated bar and comfortable seating area but the shame was there were very few people so it seemed rather quiet. This is the only negative. The service was good and we were seated in the bar area which was ideal. The food was as good as we could have expected and we enjoyed a three course meal prepared very well. I would definitely return.

Sadly the website of this hotel does not portray what you see on arrival. The front facade is very pretty but parking at rear you enter the building through what can only be described as a motorway motel reception, very disappointing 1st impression.
Our room was meant to be a superior double, though large it hadn't been upgraded since the 80's and the sofa was so stained it should be put in a skip.
The sitting area downstairs pictured on the website completely lacks any character or ambiance with stark brilliant white lighting it was horrible.
The food was ok but nothing to write home about.
For £145 b&b these owners need to look at the lavenham Swan, the Oundle Talbot etc where we pay the same price for 100% better, decor, rooms and food and service.
Truly disappointing.

Check in was simple and straightforward with all the covid requirements covered. Our room 10 overlooked the car park and fields beyond, it was generously sized with an extra large bed, soft chairs, desk and dressing table. We spent a pleasant time in the very comfortable bar waiting for a friend to arrive for dinner. The menu is varied with I'm sure somethig for everyone. The scallops to start were plump, cooked perfectly and served on a crackling base with sauce - most enjoyable. Main course duck again cooked perfectly with crispy skin accompanied by fresh vegetablesand sauce. Breakfast, the menu was wide ranging with something for everybody's taste. The egs royale were superb and can be thoroughly recommended as can the English breakfast with quality sausage and real bacon. The village store over the road prvides papaers and has a wide range of produce as well as being the local coffee shop.
Great Bircham is a perfect base for visits to North Norfolk and the Kings Head highly thought of.

Having stayed at this hotel a few years ago we were looking forward to returning. Post Covid and with new owners it was not quite the same. We had booked a superior room, we were given room 9, but were surprised at how little space there was between the bed and the walls. The bath/shower required a young and athletic occupant as it was so high, it was not a safe design.
Their Covid practice was not to enter the room post guest arrival. This meant that the bed was not made, the towels were not replaced, the coffees etc were not replenished and the rubbish bins were not emptied. I did collect fresh towels from reception. Luckily this is not standard practice for other hotels we have recently visited where you could request staff did not enter your room if you wished.
The restaurant staff, although pleasant, were totally disorganised with either great delays in service or three people asking the same question within a few minutes.
The quality of the food was disappointing and not good value whereas it had been outstanding during our previous visit. This is all a pity as the building is attractive and well positioned.

We stayed for 2 nights with our friends. We both had excellent rooms, so comfy, cosy and nice decor. We were welcomed by Lisa who had been so helpful prior to our visit and all the time we were staying. Nothing too much trouble from all staff, must mention Joseph and Jeff who are 2 brilliant staff. Always smiling, happy and professional, great asset to the hotel. We ate on our first night in restaurant, having a set pre Christmas menu, the food was amazing, chefs making sure my food was gluten-free, thanks to Paul, Ross and Steve. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, tasty and well presented. Nice to see Sandra at breakfasts. Good choice for breakfast and all cooked fresh. The hotel lounge is cosy, decorated nicely for Christmas with a lovely fire. Can't wait to see you all again soon. Thank you everyone

Following an issue with accommodation we had booked elsewhere for a break we ended up needing to book an alternative at short notice having already arrived in Norfolk. Kieran at the Kings Head was very helpful booking us a room, suggested somewhere we would be able to get some dinner en route and waited for us to arrive beyond the end of his shift.
The staff in the morning were also friendly and served us a good breakfast.
Overall good value for money and we appreciate the service we received.

Looked forward to staying in this attractive looking hotel for out wedding anniversary, but on arrival we found it to be a soulless place, devoid of any kind of atmosphere. What was once obviously a lovely period building, had been turned into a boutique styled hotel. The room was large with a good view over the fields & a lovely seating area outside. The bed was large but had a grubby quilt cover on it covering a thin, cheap looking quilt. The cover was changed for us when we highlighted this. The dining room felt like a canteen, which was off putting. The food was at best average & over priced. Some of the staff were clearly inexperienced...which is the sign of the times, due to covid unfortunately. But the quality of the food was the hardest to swallow sadly. I asked for smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for breakfast. The egg was like rubber, which I am sure was cooked on a a greasy hot plate & burnt underneath, then placed on one slice of toast, for the oil to soak through to complete it's appeal. We ordered the chicken supreme for dinner the night before & was served a chicken Sunday roast, minus the Yorkshire pudding. The chicken was tough. We highlighted this to the waiter, but was met with an awkward smile & a sorry & that was it. Other complaints from other guests that night were evident, but we were unsure of exact details. Our trip to Salthouse & Sandringham church, were the saving grace from our weekend being ruined. We certainly won't be returning to the Kings Arms. It needs to up it's game.

I am so pleased to report that my husband and I have just enjoyed a lovely lunch at the King’s Head in Bircham. The bar area is so welcoming and so tastefully decorated. The fire was roaring and the whole establishment felt warm and inviting.
We were served for both drinks and food by the wonderful Joseph. His professionalism was outstanding and he was a pleasure to converse with. The vegetarian food that we opted for was absolutely lovely - compliments to the chef.
We will return…very soon.
Thank you to everyone involved! An amazing job!

I don't believe there is any accommodation on the ground floor.
If you are asking for disabled access purposes, there is good quality self-catering accommodation nearby at Church Farm Barns (Norfolk Disabled-friendly Cottages) only about 1 mile away
