Welcome to The Kings Head Country Hotel, a very warm welcome to the family-run Kings Head Hotel. Built in the Edwardian era, the hotel combines all the traditional warmth and comfort of a long established country house hotel with sleek contemporary facilities. The hotel is located on the great estate of Royal Sandringham and close to the Houghton estate, also offering easy access to the North Norfolk Coast the Kings Head is very well worth a visit.

We booked in as part of a car club for an overnight stay before heading to sandringham the next day for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. We booked room 1 (deluxe) with double aspect windows, a sofa and three armchairs and massive bed. The staff are so friendly, with the receptionist actually taking us up to our room, instead ot just giving directions. The hotel interior is clean and tastfuly decorated, the toilets also. But the highlight was the evening meal. There were nine couples in our group and everyone enjoyed their various meals. My wife (along with a few others) chose the Cromer crab salad, some the fish pie, but for me the starter of Tempura batterd prawns with chilli jam was superb, followed by a delicious but massive main of duck breast, duck leg confit and duck…

An excellent well presented and well run country house hotel, set in a lovely rural village setting in West Norfolk, ideally located for the Sandringham estate, King's Lynn and the North Norfolk coast. Great breakfast included and an extensive menu of well cooled and presented food also available.

This hotel used to be incredible both in its interior design and it’s culinary expertise it was a place to be seen and so popular. We have not visited for a while and was excited to be going back. I was quite shocked to begin with it looked closed there were hardly any vehicles there. On stepping in the once delicious sumptuous decor has been replaced by items that looked like they were bought from The Range. It looks cheap and bare completely uninspired. It was empty and quite depressing. It once competed with bathe Hoste it now has Travel lodge as its main competition Very sad as the building and the residents of Bircham deserves better

We met friends here for two nights. The hotel is very clean and well furnished with a modern feel to it. We ate both evenings and we all found the food of a high standard. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to visit Sandringham (we didn’t). An ideal location for long walks in the countryside or by the coast. One thing that could be improved would be the breakfast menu. Lots of choice if you want a hot meal but I think it would have been nice to have a table set out with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt etc. You could ask for cereal but it was a bit formal for first thing in the morning. Also a lot of people can’t tolerate orange juice and this was all that was offered. However, even with the above comment I would…

I have stayed here twice over the last six weeks with my partner. Please do not take any notice of the ‘ negative reviews’ so untrue. We love this place and feel so looked after. Rob ‘IS ‘ lovely and a very good Manager. He really looked after us; together with this team al young and just eager to please visitors. I just don’t understand the negative reviews! I suppose some people think the Hotel is run just for them! Don’t listen to the put downs. it’s truly very nice. We have always had a fantastic room & service too! Will look forward to returning very soon. It’s a really friendly Pub/Hotel. We will be back very soon.

I wasn’t going to write a review & just put my awful experience down to bad luck, but seeing the response to my friends previous reviews I feel I need to, especially as the person responding from the hotel was not even there during our stay. After a long day walking I had to have a cold shower. I get it, things break down but an apology wouldn’t go a miss. We were asked to come down for dinner at 8:15pm and no earlier as we were a large party (of 7!), to go to the bar area (smart!) where our order would be taken. We arrived there on the dot (I was ravenous!) We took a corner table out of the way next to a lovely young couple who I said , oh no I think we’re about to spoil your quiet evening and they replied no problem, you’ll add some atmosphere! We ordered cocktails & our…

Stayed Saturday 24th April as part of a walking group and will not be coming back nor will I recommend this hotel to anyone. Disappointment at every turn. - no hot water - raw desserts - one and a half wait for breakfast - inedible kippers Querying the length of time our breakfast was taking with a very rude Manageress I was told that we asked too many questions and that it was our fault that breakfast was taking so long! At no time was any effort made to apologise for the delay. Worse still, broadcasted across the dining room we were told “our sort were not welcome here”. Shocked, we quietly left the breakfast table and left the hotel.

Feel we have no choice but to respond to your review. Your party was booked in for 8.15pm to dine in our restaurant, your last guests arrived at 8.35pm fortunately the two bookings after yours came early so was able to slot them in first otherwise some guests would of had a long wait. Guests dining in our restaurant requested after eating their meal if they could move into the lounge as complained of the noise from your table. For no hot water a fault appeared on the thermostat we informed the plumber who came out that evening and repaired the fault. The raw dessert was a brownie in question there are two types of brownie one baked through the other a gooey centre which is what we serve and the chef actually explained this to one of your party that this was cooked and not a raw dessert. Breakfast is served at 8.30 am on a Sunday but some of your party chose to come down early. You ordered cereal or porridge then asked when was your main course going to be served, as for your first course it is highly rude to clear dishes away when one of your party was still eating her porridge. You state the kippers were inedible although you ate one and we assured you these were fresh kippers which are very popular. Guests actually remarked how sorry they were for our staff and one table asked if they were being entertained again by your table for breakfast next morning, we assured them that you were only booked in for the one night.

We've just spent a very enjoyable weekend break at the Kings Head with our small dog and can thoroughly recommend this small privately-owned hotel. Well located for the North Norfolk beaches (eg 20 min drive to Brancaster) and sights, although nearby Houghton Hall had not yet opened for the season. Good bar and restaurant/food (we ate in the bar on our first evening) and tasty breakfast (especially the smoked fish, a local specialty). Very comfortable and clean room. The staff were efficient, friendly and attentive, just right, and the hotel had a really good feel to it. Also with a west-facing terrace and garden, although too cold for us just yet. Well worth the competitive price.

Stayed 1 night DBB as part of a group of 7 ladies walking on Saturday 24th April. Lack of hot water on Saturday night , Key for bedroom door broke, no spares. Food at dinner was mainly from the freezer, dessert menu was Cheese board , Ice cream or Brownie . Asked for Brownie warm , it was raw and totally inedible . Breakfast was a disaster , took over 1 1/2 hours !!!! Exceptionally rude manageress. Understand there is a lack of staff, but please do not speak to people the way you did to us . Really sorry we had settled bill before breakfast to save us time . Simple things could be fixed . My advice is please do not stay here . No wonder they could accommodate us fairly last minute .

We have responded to a member of your party now responding to your review. Firstly explained regarding the hot water. The key worked perfectly when we handed this over to yourselves. All our food is fresh produce, our dessert menu was Cheeseboard, Mixed Berry Eton Mess, Lemon Posset with a Berry Compote, Raspberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Brownie with Salter Caramel Ice Cream and a selection of ice creams and sorbets. You was being rude and was stating in the restaurant not to stay at our hotel the Manager said we don't need people like yourselves, but did apologise at the table and again at reception. Explained on the review to your other member of the party regarding breakfast, you actually booked on the 14th April and took the last bedrooms available.

One night stay taking advantage of beautiful weather. £135 inc breakfast with an additional charge to bring a dog. Beautiful characterful building with a lovely garden and terrace but feel the downstairs rooms should reflect the character of a grand Edwardian building and agree with other reviews of it lacking character. Lovely location in a very pretty village with a vintage little store opposite and very convenient as a base to visit the north Norfolk coast. Brancaster is very close and has a lovely beach. The room we stayed in was spacious, nice bathroom with comp toiletries and a large comfy bed. Had evening meal and only one vegetarian option but they accommodated me with my request and my husband enjoyed his meal albeit a little overpriced. Breakfast was very good. Enjoyed…
