Welcome to The Kings Head Country Hotel, a very warm welcome to the family-run Kings Head Hotel. Built in the Edwardian era, the hotel combines all the traditional warmth and comfort of a long established country house hotel with sleek contemporary facilities. The hotel is located on the great estate of Royal Sandringham and close to the Houghton estate, also offering easy access to the North Norfolk Coast the Kings Head is very well worth a visit.

Delightful to return to the Kings Head. Our 1st with Sandra and her Team at the helm. Gives access to the best parts of North Norfolk. Norwich, UEA (My Alma Mater, '68-'71), Holt, Kings Lynn and Brancaster. We booked for 4 nights (Room 2), but an extra day to catch Thornham Creek @ High Tide (it was too windy!) and another to avoid travelling thru Storm Eunice stretched our stay to 6 nights. Kings Head probably best known for its superb cuisine. There is a Set Menu Monday to Thursday but A La Carte only Friday to Sunday. All excellent but the latter understandably more expensive. Special mention should be made of the excellent Coffee (my blood has a high caffeine quota). Lisa (Reception), Julie and the rest of Sandra's Team work extremely hard to make your stay most…

Very disappointing visit. Loved the look of the menu so booked again (after last visiting 10 years ago) Upon arrival it seemed very stark and cold. No one at reception desk so we walked to the bar area. It seemed quite uninviting but we got chatting to other visitors and felt a little more comfortable. When our table was ready we were told which one it was but not shown to it. Sat down to a table with no settings and no cloth and the ‘restaurant’ just felt like we were sat in our local village hall. There was no atmosphere at all, just a radio playing in the background. The table was then set whilst we were sat down, but beside us was another part of the restaurant which was in the dark and literally felt like we were waiting for bingo to start. Thankfully the food was…

We dropped in for lunch having seen this pub's garden coutyard absolutely buzzing during the summer last year - hoping... we were not disappointed: far from it. Welcomed at Reception we asked the masked receptionist about their Covid policy and she gave us reassurance we sought - showing us to the spacious bar - whilst offering that if we felt uncomfortable she would happily open the restaurant (closed off at that point) and switch on the heating for us... The bar wasn't busy (30% occupied) so we selected a table away from other diners - although the spacing was perfectly satisfactory if the next table had been/become occupied. The table service was excellent (masked waiter), the food was absolutely first class! A small detail which supported their of Covid-awareness: the…

I really want this place to succeed as the general aura is one of helpfulness and well meaning. They just need to up the game with attention to detail . The reception area is a bit lack lustre . A local person on the front desk and couldn’t tell me the best beaches !! The room had issues . No bathroom radiator and the TV was wobbly in the wall. The remote needed new batteries , the bath filled up when showering . If you want to advertise Deluxe rooms , they have to be just that . The room was quiet and the bed comfy so all good there . The food was very good. Especially the Brancaster mussels !! But again little glitches . Had to ask for salt and pepper . The table needed wiping before putting down cutlery . The waiting staff need to be able to answer customer questions with…

We stayed in Bircham over Christmas and ate at The Kings Head Country Hotel most days. We found the food to be excellent, always great quality, well cooked, well presented and good size portions! The staff were friendly and welcoming. During one of our visits the restaurant got really busy, the staff were doing everything they could to satisfy all customers. One gentleman was extremely rude and was unhappy with the wait for food, but the staff remained calm and polite, all staff handled the situation really well. We have stayed in Norfolk several times this year and know that staffing pubs, restaurants and hotels is challenging, customers need to remember we are still in the middle of a pandemic and the hospitality industry is struggling more than most. Treating people with…

Arrived for a 1 night stay on a Saturday afternoon at 1pm, no welcome on arrival just a lady sitting behind the desks who looked like she didn’t want to be there. Told her we wanted to check in to be told rooms won’t be ready until 2pm she pointed towards the bar area and said we could have a drink whilst we wait or come back at 2pm. She did show us to the bar. We booked in for lunch during our stay, food and serve was really good, though some dishes on the menu are expensive for example supreme of chicken with vegetables & potatoes was £24! Drink are also expensive, large white wine & a soda & lime was £11. As I agree with previous reviews, the whole bar area dining room lacks atmosphere. Bedrooms are dated but clean and have everything you need. When we went down for…

We spent one night here. The staff were very hard-working, breakfast was excellent with a very good choice, and we had a spacious bathroom. However, other than the bathroom, our room (room 9) was rather disappointing. Its view is of the fire escape and the house next door, it was a hot as anything (even with a fan provided and the window open) and, as other people have commented, was dated. The furniture is sort of faded silvered gilt and mirrored surfaces. There isn’t much space around the bed and a 7am beer delivery beneath the window, which was open because of the heat, woke us up. Strangely, there are no bedside lights so the lighting is solely from ceiling and wall spots and very bright. The dining-room was rather canteen-like. It was the most expensive place we stayed in…

My partner and I recently stayed in this hotel for two nights. Our room was lovely and the bathroom had everything we needed. The breakfast which was included in the price was absolutely delicious. We both had the full english the first morning and I had the eggs benedict the second morning. Everything was perfectly cooked the ladies waitressing were lovely. The bar is very extensive and impressive. Checking in and out with quick and easy. We do have a few negatives but they wouldn't deter us from returning.... the evening meal we had their the first night was disappointing. This was a surprise when the breakfasts were so amazing. Also the restaurant and bar area were lacking in atmosphere. There was no character which was real shame. The restaurant was a bit like a…

Looked forward to staying in this attractive looking hotel for out wedding anniversary, but on arrival we found it to be a soulless place, devoid of any kind of atmosphere. What was once obviously a lovely period building, had been turned into a boutique styled hotel. The room was large with a good view over the fields & a lovely seating area outside. The bed was large but had a grubby quilt cover on it covering a thin, cheap looking quilt. The cover was changed for us when we highlighted this. The dining room felt like a canteen, which was off putting. The food was at best average & over priced. Some of the staff were clearly inexperienced...which is the sign of the times, due to covid unfortunately. But the quality of the food was the hardest to swallow sadly. I asked for…
