We needed an over night stay after attending a family funeral locally. We were welcomed at 7pm and quickly found a table for a very good dinner which was accompanied by well kept beer and a good glass of merlot! The room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful! We would definitely stay again as the staff were welcoming and friendly. The pub is very comfortable with a variety of seating areas.

My husband and I were accompanying my daughter for a 'Fly alongside a Spitfire' event at the nearby North Weald Airfield, and so managed to book our 2 rooms at The Cock Inn. The staff were very welcoming on arrival, and we were shown to our two very pleasant (and spotlessly clean) rooms, which were conveniently situated on the ground floor. Although the Inn stands on a fairly busy road, we were not aware of any traffic noise, or any other noise, either. We stayed for 2 nights, with 1 twin and 1 single occupancy room, and booked dinner for both nights. The price was very reasonable, and the portions of delicious food were large, so no criticism there! We would definitely stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone. My husband says that the ale was kept very well, and he is very particular about that. (Free parking on the Inn forecourt was a bonus too!)

We stayed here for two nights whilst attending a funeral nearby. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and very promptly sent me back my phone charger which I had left plugged in the wall.! The room was simple but clean and comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space, the unusual bonus of an iron and ironing board and large fan which was useful as it was very warm when we were there. The attached pub has retained a fair bit of its 17th century character, with beams and comfy seating. We didn't eat there but breakfast was good and ample although as vegetarians we cannot understand why people don't keep some frozen veggie sausages to hand for breakfasts! There is a pretty little garden at the back where we enjoyed a quiet coffee in the morning. We enjoyed talking with the staff who told us about the history of Sheering as a Domesday Book village. There is a bus stop nearby and I reckon it would be quite practical if you were flying from Stansted as a well-priced, comfortable and pleasant place to stay. They even said you could leave your car there for less than airport parking. I would thoroughly recommend the Cock Inn as very good value for money and a thoroughly comfy and pleasant place to stay. (The in-house cat Wilbur was very friendly too!)

Room seemed a bit bare, but the bed was super comfortable, the room needs some pictures and "something" it's a nice looking venu and the owners (i thin kthey were the owners) seemed nice.. Breakfast was Only 1 sausage and bit of bacon (plus the beans, mushrooms and tomato) but really good quality sausage (really good sausage) , if you are hungery ask for an extra sausage and bit of bacon.

If the owner reads this maybe offer a "big breakfast' option or upgrade.. If I'm paying £80 for a room an extra £5 or what ever for a big breakfast is nothing.

We booked our stay to be convenient to the M11. The pub is lovely offering a good menu although we had already eaten but enjoyed a drink. Our room was small but had everything needed and was spotlessly clean the bed was extremely comfortable there was a hospitality tray and the bathroom was a good size again spotless and had beautiful soft large towels. We had a wonderful nights sleep and in the morning we were served a lovely breakfast including fruit/cereal and a full english with quality ingredients. Our hosts were friendly and this hotel offers amazing value for money.

Stayed here for two nights midweek. There was a nice atmosphere in the pub and the food was good and reasonably priced. The rooms are in an adjoining building so there were no issues with noise coming from the bar when trying to sleep.
The room itself was clean, contained exactly what is needed and the bed was very comfortable.
The owners were very friendly and accommodating with requests for the cooked breakfast.
Overall a very pleasant stay and I would definitely return here if staying in the area again.

Just back from our first "long weekend" visit to The Cock Inn, Sheering, whilst visiting family in nearby Bishops Stortford. This came as a recommendation, and "they" were not wrong, this place ticks all the boxes from start to finish. From parking and the very warm welcome, through to an excellent bar with and open fire and character beams, and some very tasty freshly cooked affordable "Pub Food" served in their restaurant, the Hunters Chicken being an excellent choice, to spotless and well appointed accommodation with a fresh and tasty breakfast each morning to start the day. The room had all the essentials, and no unnecessary frills to bump up the price. This is a traditionally run family business where pride excels, and the service is "Spot On!", thanks for a great stay, we shall definitely return on our next visit to the area!

Just back from a lovely weekend stay at The Cock Inn with my husband. We had a wonderful stay from start to finish. The staff were all so welcoming and helpful. The pub has a very relaxed feeling about it, and we felt comfortable straight away. We ate both nights in the restaurant and the food was amazing, especially the rib eye steak and pork belly. The breakfast was so good, everything you could want, from juices, fruit, cereal and a delicious full English.
Our room was very comfortable and loved the little extras of shampoo, conditioner and shower gels - the biscuits were tasty too.
We cannot fault our stay, and will definitely be returning at some stage.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Spent a lovely night here. Was welcomed and treated wonderfully. The afternoon staff, night staff and morning staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was lovely. Never seen so much steak in a Steak and Ale pie! Great selection of drinks and food. Clean, cosy welcoming and lots of attention to detail was noticed.
Our room was perfect. Spotless, fresh and modern with everything you need, and was very quiet for a good nights sleep. The full English breakfast, included in the price, was tasty and staff from the whole stay couldn’t be more polite and helpful. We cannot wait to go back in August for a night on our way to Stansted! Highly recommend. Thank you for a great stay.
