We do our very best to ensure that everyone is comfortably accommodated and made most welcome. The Cottage is to be found in the village of Birchanger which lies between a large ancient wood and the farmland of the peaceful Stort Valley. It is a quiet village despite its proximity to Stansted Airport, M11 and Bishop's Stortford. A friendly bed and breakfast guest house with 14 bedrooms ranging from single, double and twin en-suite and only a short journey time of 10 minutes makes it ideal Stansted Airport accommodation.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What can I say except you definitely won't be disappointed if you stay here! I couldn't find anything to fault. The guest house is very clean & breakfast is 1st class. I was in room 10 at the very top & can say it was well looked after. Towels were soft & plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable too. The hosts were friendly & couldn't do enough for you. I used Associated Taxis during my 3 night stay & they were either early or on time & even have their own app so you don't have to ring them if you don't want to. Perfect location for those visiting Arthur Findlay College. There is a nice pub 15 mins walk from the Guest house called Three Willows.

Needed overnight accommodation while dropping student at London university over the Queens funeral weekend. London hotels jacked price up on a daily basis, week prior to date we needed. Found this gem 40 minutes from Stratford. Pre-planned to arrive late. Lovely cottage and warm welcome. Room was perfect. Nice comfortable bed. Very quiet. Full English Breakfast was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.

This is an absolute find. This cottage has history oozing from its walls. You step through the door and turn left and step into the past. A beautiful oak panelled 'lounge'. We walked through the maze of corridors and up the our spacious dual aspect room - gorgeous. The garden needs to be explored.....along the back of the verdant garden you'll meet the 'ladies' whose eggs grace your Full English breakfast plate. The gothic windows are obvious clues to the back story of this former rectory. Perfectly located to visit London or local places of interest or the perfect stop over when flying out of the nearby Stansted airport. No need to stay in a soulless 'box' when you can enhance your time away by enjoying the home comforts offered by The Cottage. Wonderful place, we'll definitely return.

Clean rooms, friendly people , quiet surroundings, a good shower, and a great breakfast. Would I stay again? I definitely will be back when on business in the local area. The local pub is about a 15 minute walk. But it’s a pleasant walk.

Was a very good and hassle free stay - albeit only for one good night's sleep and a really good breakfast. It does what it says on the label - and does it exceptionally well. Full marks to owners and staff (though I suspect they are the same people)

Looked around Stanstead for a reasonabke place to use for our departures and arrivals. The reviews for The Cottage stood out. Arrivals happen after 1630 and you ring the bell as the front door is kept locked. If you book directly, a full breakfast is included. Booking through a service like Expedia just includes a Continental breakfast, though a full breakfast can be purchased. Our room was perfect with coffee for the early morning. Breakfast is served by 0700. The sitting room on the ground floor was wonderful as was the garden. A 15 minute walk brings you to the Three Willows pub for dinner. All very enjoyable.

Made to feel very welcome, excellent clean facilities with large well equipped rooms and one of the best breakfasts of any hotel we have stayed in. Will stay here again if the need arises. Other B&B's should aim to be like this.
