Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you like thatched cottages, Country Gardens and being made a fuss of, this is your place! Nothing was too much trouble for Debbie and Dave, they were so welcoming and friendly. The room was beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. The little touches were lovely, a small carafe of port, tea and coffee and a few sweet treats! We had a very comfortable night and breakfast the next morning was delicious. Debbie was so attentive, we felt thoroughly spoilt! Would definitely recommend. We visited Duxford and Ely on our trip.

I cannot praise the owners enough for this amazing experience! Right from check in they were so welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble through the whole of our stay. The room they rent is a beautiful space above a double garage, it has all the mod cons you’d need including , tv and a hair dryer. The bed is incredibly comfortable , I’ve not slept so well in a very long time. You also get the use of a huge , well tendered and interesting garden, I think David’s pride and joy, apart from the rogue walnut trees thanks to the squirrels ( look for the hidden pond 😉) The owners live in the main cottage ( it’s out of this world cute)but provide breakfast in their separate dining area, the spread they provide is not only extremely delicious ( we had a cooked breakfast) they also supply a lovely fruit yogurt compote, tea, coffee, orange juice and water and cereal if required . The breakfast table was laid in a lovely traditional way which we loved. Debbie has a laundry room to iron if needed. The little touches of the chocolate and the evening tipple with beautiful crystal glasses were especially cute not to mention the lovely cup cakes and macaroons . Our whole stay was perfect and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again, thank you Debbie and David, you really do go above beyond to make your guest feel welcome and valued.

Everything about the cottage and our stay was excellent. We arrived later than we had said but this wasn't an issue. Room was up a flight of external (wooden) stairs above a garage. No noise from house, garage, road or surrounding houses. Decor in our room was lovely. Lots of nice 'extras' provided (various types of tea and coffee, chocolate, sweets etc.). Breakfast was in the cottage. Had a choice for breakfast and we went for a full English. Plenty of toast, cereals, tea, coffee etc. was also provided. Lady owner very nice, approachable, helpful. If we decide to stay in this area again will definitely stay here and would recommend anyone looking for somewhere to stay in this area to stay here.

We cannot rate this B&B highly enough. The accommodation is top class and the hosts are without doubt the friendliest we have come across. The breakfast, too, exceeded expectations. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome and would 100% recommend this cottage. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

This is our 2nd stay with Debbie and David We had a 3 night stay and and they made us very welcome. We had a lovely room , which was self contained with en-suite facilities. and all very comfortable . It was nice to have the daily chocolate, and port. Debbie cooked us a very nice breakfast every morning. They also helped with maps and places to visit. Will definitely book again when visiting the area.

Chequer Cottage is a 1st class B and B with the friendlist of hosts Debbie and David. Located in a quiet rural location good for walks that provide lovely views of the surrounding countryside, a ten minute walk offers a half hourly bus service to Cambridge and Haverhill. If using the car Cambridge, Newmarket, Duxford and the surrounding area are within easy reach. If looking for a peaceful rural break with nice hosts, a lovely room, splendid breakest and extras that make it special you will find it here. We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at Chequer Cottage which we highly recommend thank you Debbie and David.

Beautiful quiet location. Warm friendly welcome. Immaculate room with little special touches. Hosts were extremely helpful and our stay was perfect. This is a fantastic location for venturing into Cambridge. We used park and ride. We also walked to the local pub and enjoyed a lovely evening meal. Our breakfast was served in the main house and was fabulous. Highly recommend this gorgeous little B&B . Thank you so much.

AMAZING FIND! We stayed here due to going to a friends wedding nearby and was astounded by the styling of the room, attention to detail and customer service! The owners were kind e ought to leave some cake in the room which tasted delicious and were very accommodating and helpful. We will definitely be going back to stay for a few days long as a mini staycation and would definitely recommend

What a wonderful find. It is so nice to write a review and put nothing but positive comments. It is no coincidence as David and Debbie clearly work very hard to make sure your stay is faultless. My wife and I really appreciated their attention to detail. All the usual things you would expect were in place, eg comfortable bed, spotless cleanliness, super breakfast, great location etc, etc. However, the little touches set this place apart from the competition, eg small carafe of port, extensive list of local pubs/restaurants, offer a fresh milk rather than UHT packets, exquisite biscuits.

Me and my fiancee stayed for one night on 01/08 and were really impressed by how Debbie and David, the owners, had managed to incorporate covid-19 measures in to the room without them being intrusive. Gone are the face cloths and bathrobes, but towels remain, all of the tourist info previously supplied has had to be removed, but a complimentary carafe of port still remains!! You will have to strip the bed and bag the bedclothes and towels when you leave, but, trust me, this isn't going to have much of an effect on your stay. Breakfast, for the time being, is Continetal and, weather permitting, can be taken in the garden. We have stayed here before and look forward to our stay next month.
