In my room now. No heating. Asked for it to be turned on when we checked in...3 hours later & "they forgot". Totally understaffed. Meal appalling. Service appalling. Feel sorry for the Eastern European staff left to man the place. Only 2 rooms in the place refurbished. Rest of the place is like Fawlty Towers!

We stayed one night in the main hotel, the room was adequate with a large ensuite and a comfy bed ,although the room and furnishings were a little dated . The food was excellent pub grub and the beer from there own micro brewery was top notch ,considering the £90 tariff I don't think you can complain .the staff were all...

Stayed two nights, one in an upstairs room overlooking the lake and one in the cottage annex. We ate in the hotel dining room on both evenings The upstairs room had an en-suite bathroom which seemed to have been recently refurbished. It had a large walk-in shower and the lavatory had a 'soft close' lid. Water pressure was just OK...

We stayed for two nights and had one of the rooms upstairs in the detached annex. It was a family room with a double and a single bed. The single bed is presumably intended for a child and although full size it had no bedside light or table. The furnishings are fairly basic, only beds, a wardrobe, bedside cabinets, a...

Great old Inn with a view that you will never tire of. The room (single) was not big but clean and with en-suite. The service (particularly Alex - the Romanian Guy) made you feel at home in the quaint bar with log fire. They also have their own brewery.....

We stopped for drinks on a cold day after walking locally.. The bar was very welcoming with a good cosy seating and an open fire. Good beer - lots of choice of locally brewed varieties. Very helpful service

We decided to book two rooms for June July but upon a drop in visit to the lakes and a curiosity trip we went to see what the rooms actually looked like. I was disappointed to see that the so called lounge area was looking straight out onto the pub carpark through full sized patio doors also the bathroom was...

While staying at the caravan park up the road, we had some friends come visit and decided to visit Brackenrigg on our way back from a day at Kendal. The pub doesn't look much from the outside, but once inside it has a lovely country pub feel about it. Log fire, wooden floors.. just cosy!! The food was delicious, portion...

My wife and I had a meal at this pub on a recent trip to The Lakes. Food was average but freshly cooked and good value. Beer and staff were awesome and the atmosphere of the pub was enjoyable. Fun night!

Perfect location for Ullswater and lakeland views along with the fells surrounding. Unfortnately the accommodation itself fell well below expectations given the price. Stayed 3 nights over easter weekend. Good points - Good location for Ullswater, Aira Force, and a good base for northern and central lakes and fells (fantastic kirkstone pass takes you straight to either Ambleside or Winderemere...
