Everything about Fairyhill was perfect from the moment we first viewed it. The venue is beautifully decorated with stylish touches and finishes throughout- the roaring fires also made for the perfect winter wedding venue! The food was top quality and all the guests commented on how delicious the wedding breakfast was! Finally, the staff were incredible and couldn’t do enough to make the day special. They really made sure everything was spot on and nothing was too much trouble. If you are looking for the perfect place for your wedding then Fairyhill is it without a doubt!

We were guests at a wedding and we were so impressed with Fairyhill. The moment we arrived, with a warm welcome and assistance with parking set this venue on a high bench mark.

The ambiance and attention to detail were incredible and the function room was pure heaven. The ceremony was beautifully set up with pretty chairs and the views into the trees gave a special feel.

The food has got rank amongst the best meals we have ever enjoyed, particularly at a wedding. The presentation, the taste, the quality, all absolutely first class and quite a feat when they were delivering food simultaneously to 100 guests. Service professionally done and could not be faulted in any way.

The charming nature of all the individual rooms in the original older part of the building provided a great escape and different vibe to the rest of the venue. Every corner had lights and extra details.

It was a pleasure to enjoy Fairyhill and I can’t speak too highly of it. Anyone lucky enough to attend a wedding there has something rather special to look forward to.

We celebrated our daughter's wedding here at Fairyhill at the beginning of October and what a fabulous experience it was. The staff were so welcoming, impeccably organised and nothing was too much trouble for Jo and her team. The 'K' room certainly delivered a 'wow' factor which made the ceremony and reception a breathtaking experience. This beautifully spacious room in a stunning setting was complimented by numerous lounges which provided a relaxing atmosphere for those guests who wanted to take advantage of a short break from the festivities. The quality of the food was excellent throughout our stay and was delivered in a timely and efficient manner. It was indeed a memorable day and to quote our daughter and her husband , "It was a solid 10/10 experience!"

Came here for a wedding, didn’t stay but was at the reception. The hors d’oeuvre weren’t great and we were only offered any of them about twice. Before the starters, there was an amuse bouche which we are pretty certain had fish in which wasn’t advised when they gave it to us which is concerning as I am allergic to fish (I didn’t eat it just in case luckily). The vegetarian main was flavourless and dry and it’s ridiculous in this day and age to have only one option that is a far cry from the other guest’s meals. Also noticed that the tables at the wedding didn’t all receive their food at the same time with some tables waiting about half an hour after others for their course. The bar was decently priced and the bar staff were so so friendly and worked so hard so hats off to them.

I have been to two weddings at this stunning venue, one was my own daughters. i am sorry to say that on both occasions the evening buffets were massively disappointing and looked like the contents had been purchased from was from Asda's value range. After the promises made when booking this venue this was extremely disappointing. Maybe the venue thinks nobody will notice in the evening after a day of drinking and celebrating but it certainly does not live up to it's boasts and promises. If you are thinking of booking here please get assurances of food standards for your evening buffets and check exactly what you are going to receive. A dry burger bun with some cheap patty in it is certainly not 5 star in my book. I felt truly embarrassed in front of our guests, I did not complain as I did not want to spoil the day and make a fuss and thought that maybe it was a blip but after attending my nieces wedding to find that her buffet was equally low standard Don't let them cheap out on you when you are spending such large amounts on your special days.

Booked lodge 10 people 8 blankets , heating didn’t work well over priced for the quality of room and space.

Next day stayed in the venue
No snacks available
Site team very reluctant to use the aircon
Room had no toilet paper
No curtains in room.

My advice is to check
All small print in paper work and make sure everything is working and intact before settling your suitcases in.

Lovely venue but no attention to detail

I attended a wedding and stayed over night here at the weekend. The venue was stunning and we had a great day celebrating with our friends. The food was absolutely incredible, especially the lamb. The silver service was also very impressive. The only things that let it down was on the room-side. Our room didn't have an en-suite so we had to wait to use the bathroom with other guests (For the price of the room, I would've expected there to be a private bathroom). There also seemed to be a lot of noise throughout the night (bumping and crashing) not sure if this was other guests in neighboring rooms or the pipes but it woke me a couple of times. Finally, the WiFi was extremely disappointing. It only worked in the lounge of the hotel so we couldn't get any at all in the room and whilst taking photos throughout the day in the main Garden Room, which was a shame. This didn't take away from our friends' beautiful wedding day though, which Fairyhill organised to perfection.

Response from FairyhillTeam2, General Manager at Fairyhill
Responded 29 Jan 2020
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are delighted you had a fabulous time! We absolutely love what we do and it was wonderful to meet all the friends and family of our lovely couple. I have to agree with your thoughts on the food and in particular the lamb - it is an incredible dish. We have a fantastic team of Chefs and all our dishes are created on site using local products. I take on board your comments about the room you stayed in. It sounds like you stayed in the apartment. It is a two bedrooms apartment with a shared bathroom. Usually friends who know each other or family members stay in these rooms. That said, we will make doubly sure our couples are fully aware of this when they are allocating the bedrooms. There is always an element of noise during the wedding celebrations but I will investigate it all the same. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and for the lovely feedback about the day itself. It was wonderful. Warmest wishes Jo-Anne Purnell-Rees

From the very first time I saw Fairyhill I knew if I ever got married it would be top of the list of venues for me. After getting engaged late 2019 we booked a visit and this was solidified. The service we received at every stage was just incredible, especially in the midst of covid postponements. Everything about fairyhill is just top class, the food, the attention to detail, the accommodation, the setting…there is nothing I can fault (and I’m a perfectionist). Having a background in events I was worried I’d spend my day dealing with issues and event managing my own wedding. I can safely say I did absolutely nothing of the sort and the fairyhill team took care of every last detail and more. Thank you to Shakira, Greg, Jo and all of the amazing fairyhill team for giving us the most perfect day of our dreams. I can only hope we can return as guests!! Mr and Mrs Betteridge.

My wife and I attended a wedding at Fairy hill, the venue and food were excellent to be fair, however, I felt badly let down as the place was freezing cold, despite asking for the heating to be turned on. They leave the doors open and it blows through like a wind tunnel. Some of the guests including my mother ate the meal with their coats on which really is unacceptable. To cap it all the room we had also had faulty heating and a blocked toilet. I complained and heard nothing from the venue manager and still haven’t, I did however get a response from the head office who claimed the manager would be in touch. After a few weeks of waiting I complained again and was told the manager was on annual leave ???. We paid £152 for the nights stay and was eventually given £50 back as a gesture of goodwill which personally, I don’t think comes close to what we should have had for the inconvenience. Both the day and night was ruined. I would not return to this venue and strongly advise anyone thinking of booking to think twice.

When we booked our wedding with Fairyhill we were sold the dream however we quickly realised that unfortunately it’s a case of being on a conveyor belt of weddings, which lacks personal touch, care and attention. This was made apparent to us when our wedding was booked on a date that wasn’t actually available, this meant we had to contact all suppliers to re arrange and also notify all guests of a new date. Eventually we decided to cancel our wedding with over 1 years notice which meant we were entitled to everything we had paid back minus a £2k cancellation fee, this was clearly stated in their Terms and conditions. Despite this, wedding planner Greg informed us they would be keeping all of the money we had paid. We challenged this by highlighting their own t&c’s, sending numerous emails and making many phone calls only to be told every time that Greg or Rachel were in meetings and a message would be passed to them to call us back. We never got called back and our emails also remained unanswered. This went on for several weeks. Eventually we sought advice from trading standards and the citizens advice bureau who informed us Fairyhill were in breach of their contract and we were entitled to a full refund, they helped us write a formal letter detailing this. We sent this to Greg and the Fairyhill team on the 4th of July 2022 and within an hour Greg was phoning us apologising and advising we would receive a refund within 30-60 days. Fast forward 60+ days and we still hadn’t received our refund. We sent an email to them which remained unanswered so yet again we had to contact the citizens advice bureau. The citizens advice bureau told us that we should now take Fairyhill to court and again helped us write a formal letter, I sent this letter yesterday and today received our refund minus the £2k cancellation fee. For such a well established, expensive and popular wedding company to treat us this way shows the regard they have for people, all they really seem to care about is making money. Our money was a drop in the ocean to them but still they made it very difficult for us. There was no thought for our circumstances or of how the stress of being continuously ignored would have affected us, and me as I was heavily pregnant at the time. I’m sharing this review to make others aware of how we were treated and to hopefully prevent anyone else from experiencing anything similar.

Hi, I haven't been to a wedding in Fairy Hill, just in Oldwalls, its sister venue, which was lovely. Fairy Hill is a much nicer venue in my opinion.
