Stayed for one night to attend a friend's birthday in Consett. First impressions were good...staff and customers greeted us when we walked in. Roaring fire was well tended and food was still being served at 3pm. Landlord offered tastes of all the real ales on tap. We had a meal which was ample hot and tasty. There was a heating...

We have just spent the night at the Punch Bowl and what a lovely stay we have had. When we arrived we were shown to our room , which was small but very clean and well equipt with tea coffee hot chocolate and biscuits. The bathroom was well designed with even a bath robe to use. We had our evening...

My mum and dad normally love this place and we reserved a table for my Grandad's birthday, they gave the pub the benefit of the doubt today I however can't. The waitresses were miserable and tasks ask of them seemed a chore the atmosphere was shocking ,the food was...

If you go about 4-5pm on a Sunday you can choose either Sunday lunch or normal menu. I don't like Sunday lunches my family think this is one of the best they have had. Nice inside apart from toilets could do with some refreshing!

We stayed locally and were recommended to dine at the Punch Bowl Inn. Reading some of the reviews we were a little concerned what the evening would provide. Some older reports were not favorable but later ones were commendable. However, upon arrival, we talked with the proprietor and determined he had recently bought out the inn in the last nine...

This place is a little out the way but totally worth it. The food is always fantastic, I've been a number of times and never had a bad meal. Family friendly and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The manager in particular was very understanding when a member of our party was late to arrive. I would highly recommend...

We called for a Saturday lunch and by gum we were not disappointed. It was beautiful. A real friendly inn with lots of cyclists and visitors as we were. We will be returning soon someone recommended the steak pie for our next visit.
