Detailed Reviews
We stayed for a couple of nights whilst visiting one of our daughters. The hotel is lovely to look at inside and outside, and very well presented, with plenty of space to stay socially distanced from other guests around the bar and restaurant. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks at the bar and breakfast were very good quality, however, the evening dinner was a little disappointing, especially after some locals we chatted to in the afternoon raved about it. There was nothing wrong with the meal, it was just a bit average and didn't live up to the hype. The bedroom was a great size, as was the bathroom which had large free standing both and a wet room style shower. The weather was quite warm and the lack of air con could be a problem, especially if you have a room facing the road and can't open the windows - luckily we had an inner facing room, but think we were near the kitchen air con or something as there was a constant fan noise with the window open. Overall it was good value and a nice experience, so will almost surely stay again when visiting our daughter.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch after waiting many months to book, while the hotel was closed due to Covid . We were shown to a nice table in the window, overlooking the garden on a really warm day, but the door was open beside us so there was fresh air. Tables were distanced, but no plastic screens and several guests walked through without masks on (carried in their hand instead!) Our food was served by friendly waiting staff. The menu hadn’t changed much since our last visit , well over a year ago! And it’s still good value at £16.50 for 2 courses and £18.95 for 3. My prawn cocktail was large and as good as I remembered it, as was my husbands trio of Mediterranean starter . My husbands Sea Bass (carrying a £2.50 supplement) was quite good, although the parsnip, broccoli and asparagus were very under cooked and mainly inedible. My beef stroganoff (carrying a £2 supplement) was served with a rather dry rice, a carrot and also a parsnip and broccoli, but those too were just too hard to cut or be enjoyed. There was an enormous amount of beef though which was fairly tender but a little dry and I couldn’t manage it all as there was so much! The portions weren’t small so we were unable to enjoy a dessert, but we did take tea and coffee outside on the veranda, which as it was such a nice day was most enjoyable. A relaxing lunch and good service ....so will return sometime soon.

We stayed at Elizabeth House for six nights with two other couples. From the initial enquiry to departure, all the staff were extremely pleasant and professional. This hotel prides itself on weddings and functions and is used to patrons staying one or two nights so they were slightly taken aback that we were staying six as not used to leisure breaks. We stayed in Sir Francis Drake room which is a deluxe room. Very clean, well appointed room. The bathroom was immaculate and our only comment would be is that a caddy or table to put toilet bags on would be a major improvement. Shelf space is limited without toilet bag getting wet by the sink. Our room was cleaned everyday by a lovely housekeeper. We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast rate which was exceptional value. The food is simply quite delicious with lots of choices. Portions are on the large side so we did a mix and match with some starters as the week progressed. Our only negative comment about the food is that the vegetables were far too al dente to be enjoyable. Just a few more minutes cooking would have made every meal exceptional.
The grounds are lovely to walk around and a nice outside space to sit when the weather good enough to do so. The bar area was also very pleasant to sit in for more and post dinner drinks. The hotel is very busy for dinner as is known locally as ‘the’ place to go to but the staff work extremely hard to keep everything under control especially in these times of hospitality issues. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a break away where they know the meaning of good hospitality.

The hotel is very beautiful but overall could do with spending some time on ensuring all details of the rooms are up to scratch. We booked a junior suite and on initial inspection the room looked lovely, it soon became apparent that there had been a major water leak at some point as the ceiling was highly stained and tattered. The bathroom had exceptionally loose toilet seat and the toiletries felt cheap. The breakfast was totally different (despite ordering the same thing on both days!) The quantity was halved on the second day and exceptionally poorly cooked. We won't be returning to this hotel as a result.

We stayed at St Elizabeths house for a few days with my wife ,sister and her partner and i cannot emphasise how beautiful it was. Teresa ,Andrikos and all the team were simply FANTASTIC and made us feel so welcomed. This is a hidden gem in the heart of Plympton. The reason is very simple. Excellent service, fresh flowers every day on the stair banister and displayed throughout the hotel creating a beautiful ambience, excellent food, excellent customer service with a personal human touch, staff listening and taking time to chat to you. Most importantly the rooms that both myself and my sister stayed in were first class in every way and the attention to detail is excellent. Each room is beautifully designed and have their own theme. The rooms are named after influental people who were part of Plymptom. Our room had a beautiful bathroom as well as walk in shower.
The prices of the rooms are very good. In London to get rooms of the standard we had you would be paying anything from 500 to 800 pounds plus per night in central london. This really is a hidden gem and in my opinion it was 10 out of 10. To Teresa, Andriko and all the staff i cannot thank them enough for two days of absolute bliss. This is an outstanding place of pure elegance and we will definitely be back. Thank you all for making us feel so welcomed. The photos i took were taken over the two days we were there. We will definitely be back. This really is an absolute hidden gem of a place and i am so glad we stayed there.
I would highly reccomend this hotel for weddings and events. It is truly beautiful with excellent outdoor surroundings as well. Outstanding in every way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can recommend this venue for a party. The arrangements were made months ahead and the menu choices made 2 weeks beforehand. There was a large number of choices on the menu. The service was efficient for a group of 29 in a private dining room. The food was good and served hot. A projector and screen were provided for a computer based slideshow.

Booked the private dining room for a small family celebration on a Thursday evening and chose private dining menu 2. The venue was lovely and the staff were very attentive and helpful right from the start of booking to the evening itself. I am a coeliac and have to eat a strict gluten free diet and they catered for me really well with lots of choice which I was very impressed with.
Food wise the portions were very generous (maybe a little too big for some) and most of the food was delicious. The amuse bouche was extremely tasty, the starters all seemed to go down well although slight disappointment for those who had the mackerel pate with melba toast as the Melba toast was the size of a tortilla chip. The main issue was the vegetables that came with the kleftico (which most people had) as they were extremely undercooked and definitely not al dente. The dauphinoise potato was like eating raw sliced potato and quite awful and the majority of us who had this were not able to eat the potato at all however due to the size of the kleftico itself not sure anyone would have been able to eat all the vegetables anyway. All the desserts were delicious although not all were complete ie for those who had the creme brulee some did not have the chocolate ice cream with it.
In summary, the staff were brilliant, the venue perfect, most of the food delicious but due to the missing items on some desserts and the very undercooked veges this let it down and not sure I would be in a rush to return

Late booking for a one night stay, most other places in Devon fully booked as everyone on staycations, so we were surprised to find this available at a not too expensive rate for July - so we were a little wary! How wrong were we. Whilst the room was a little tight on space in places, this was more than offset by the large size of the classy bathroom, both were well decorated, clean and very comfortable. The bonus here is the bar & restaurant service - we booked dinner bed & breakfast and the service was excellent both at dinner and at breakfast, proper waiter/waitress service, quick, efficient, and professional. The bar area is classy and very welcoming for pre-dinner drinks. If I had to describe the hotel the word I would use is ‘elegant’, and we would not hesitate to stay if we travel to this part if Devon again

Stayed here on a flying visit to meet our new grandson born at Easter.. so really special trip for us.
Having felt quite cautious about reintegrating back into the world St Elizabeth’s came up trumps and provided a reassuringly safe environment ,with plenty of space in all public areas and staff who had clearly been well trained in the “ new normal”, in the most beautiful of surroundings. Everything here is done to the highest standard, the service is friendly and professional ,the rooms are tastefully decorated with a fabulous en-suite and the food is of excellent quality. It was so lovely to talk to the owner of this family run boutique hotel and we are so pleased they are able to welcome visitors once more.

I remember our room had a safe, but don't recall seeing a fridge. Best to ring reception to confirm which rooms have fridges.
Sorry I don’t know as I went for afternoon tea.
Considering it is a hotel the prices are really reasonable and they have a great selection of beers and wines, also do great coffee and tea.
Our wedding was here. The dance floor won't be big enough for a full drum kit etc and dancing. Ask the band if they can scope it out to confirm though
Sorry do not know as we do not use Amex, a lot of business's around here do not accept them. You will need to check with St Elizabeth's
