Firstly the staff are amazing (only saw 2 of them in 4 days) and will do absolutely anything to make your stay welcoming and pleasant, they are a credit to the hotel. However........ the hotel is tired, run down and badly under staffed, the one member of staff you see each day services the front of house, cooks and serves breakfast, cooks and serves your evening meal and cleans your room. That is too much for 1 staff member to do efficiently which leaves the guests needs a little lacking.
I have got really mixed views about this hotel, the staff work hard and are fantastic, the food they serve is good quality and well cooked, breakfast is ok, it’s mainly deep fried (which I hate) but it was still ok, the sausage is cheap and the bacon is smoked but it’s still all edible but not to everyone’s taste.
The hotel is seriously run down, it’s decor is tired and the beds are not so comfortable, the mattress was soft and you could feel every spring digging in you whilst you lay on it, the pillows are flat and useless, overall the sleep at this hotel is really poor. The bathroom has mold on the tiles and the bottom off the shower screen was full of black squishy mold, I didn’t feel clean whilst using the shower which is not good at all, however the water was hot and the pressure was excellent, the shower just needs a deep clean and a proper bit of maintenance to get it up to scratch.
The furniture in the room like the tables and desk area have sticky surfaces, just needs a good clean.
I ended up booking an extra night as it was really convenient to where I was working so it wasn’t all bad. As I said I have a mixed review, the place is good value for money but you get what you pay for, I would rate this hotel a 2 star, cheap and cheerful but do not expect luxury and a clean, comfortable room as it doesn’t deliver. (Sadly)

We stayed here so we could go on the Ale Trail, 3 couples. We were a bit reluctant having read the other reviews but we had a fantastic time.
Paid for the exec room, they were clean but wouldn’t say exec, they were a bit tired. We received a friendly greeting from Dawn the receptionist/cleaner/barmaid/waitress.
We stayed in the hotel bar Fri night & Dawn absolutely made our night, she was so friendly & accommodating. We ordered take out as the chef was off with Covid. It was my hubby’s birthday, Dawn got him a mince pie & decorated a plate for him, so kind.
The next night after coming back from the Ale Trail we ordered take out to have in the bar, Dawn wasn’t working but she had decorated an area for us, such a kind thing to do. She also ordered us a taxi to get us to the train & even phoned 1/2 hour before to check they were coming.
On Sunday when we left my hubby was unwell as his diabetes was playing up, we hadn’t booked breakfast but Dawn got him a banana & offered to make him a drink.
It’s an unusual hotel, a bit quirky but we will go again as the staff are fantastic, especially Dawn.

This was a pleasantly situated hotel in a quiet backwater of a busy suburb of Leeds. The room was large with a well appointed bathroom. However, it was generally rather tired and in need of some refurbishment - cobwebs in the corner and the stairway banister was filthy. Curtains hanging off the rails in places. Comfortable enough though.
Staff were friendly and cooperative although there we some lack of communication. We ordered continental breakfast (all that was available) when we arrived but the following morning nothing had been prepared. This was rectified for the following days.
Not the best I have atayed in by any means but not the worst either.

There is a 50/50 chance (last year I booked here to) that you will be moved to their sister location 1 HOUR walk away! When this is brought up they just shrugged their shoulders and said get a taxi or a bus.

Last year this hotel was alright but I have to say about my time this year because they may turn around 3 hours before check in and say you’re being moved and you have no say.

The other room was fine until I looked in the bathroom. The vinyl was ripped and the flooring raised. The toilet seat was off and to the side (plus no toilet brush). When I told reception the guy said “it’s fine we’ve known about it for weeks. Don’t worry a plumber is coming tomorrow morning to fix the tap”. There was no issue with the tap so I have no idea what he was talking about. When I asked about a time it was like he pulled it out his bum! “11am” so I said “guess I have to be out my room by 10-11” and he kinda just agreed with me. Now the weekend is over and I am home I can say there was no plumber in my room as NOTHING changed. Someone did come in to empty the bin and put new milk, coffee and sugar out. My friend also had his bed made for him. So take that as either creepy or nice.

Last year other than the hotel needing a proper clean (it was hoovered, dusted and clean bedding just not in all the cracks). But the bathroom was alright as far as I’m aware.

TL;DR 50/50 you’ll stay here or at their sister location. This hotel is decent. The sister one is a dice roll on whether the room will be damaged or not.

This hotel took payment prior to staying although it said free cancellation within 48 hours. So. No concerns. Until I had to cancel well within their policy and surprise surprise no refund despite emailing them. Ringing them (promised a call back) no call back. Emailing them several times but not even the customer service to respond. I do not recommend this hotel I would advise anyone to avoid booking this hotel. I am disgusted with this transaction and totally dissatisfied

It was an over night stay with our young son, Mark & Tony were really friendly and great with our son too. The hotel itself isn’t a clinical trendy place, it’s cosy, clean and has comfortable beds. They even went to the trouble of doing a vegetarian full English breakfast for us which was delicious. The hotel has onsite parking and is quiet but close to the centre of Batley.

I would happily stay here again :)

Stayed two nights. On the first breakfast there was no-one around to make breakfast or on reception so having already paid I had to make do with some cereal that was left out. I mentioned this later and was told someone would contact me and I would get a refund for breakfast. They didn't and I haven't.
2nd night more people around and the paper thin walls bacame apparent.
Very rarely give a bad review but felt I had to on this one.

Other than things such as only 1 towel in the room for 2 people over 2 nights and the room not being cleaned or the tea tray not being refilled our main issue was that we messaged to confirm a spa bath room prior to booking. This was confirmed and payment was made. Due to work and travel time we arrived at 8pm. Upon entering our room there wasn’t a spa bath. I complained to the receptionist who informed us that our booking had been moved to another room without notifying us. Because it was so late we weren’t able to leave and find another hotel so we had no option but to stay. I requested a refund but the receptionist wasn’t authorised to give one instead she said she would speak to the manager first. He didn’t arrive!
The ONLY reason we booked this hotel was for the spa bath. Therefore I believe we should be given a refund so we can book elsewhere. Preferably somewhere that doesn’t change a booking behind our backs.
We have been offered a room upgrade if we stop again. We will not be stopping there ever again!
I would like my refund and after careful reading of the regulations of the consumer rights act I AM entitled to a full refund as I did not receive the service that I paid for. I would like my refund ASAP otherwise I will take this further due to principle.

Booked via Booking.com two night stay. En route (5hr journey) received message from hotel that my accommodation had been transferred to the sister hotel some 2 miles away, the whole point of staying here was that I dont drive and thus location convenient. Too late to arrange other accommodation so stuck with it!! Sister hotel absolutely appalling, management dismissive and couldnt care less attitude...NEVER AGAIN ...SHAMEFUL!!!

Very welcoming staff made our stay with an early arrival and early leave possible without any questions. Rooms were very clean and the beds real comfortable. A bit outside of town makes it a quit place to stay at.
